Not sure honestly, early impressions seem to suggest she's Fischl 2.0. Which is by no means bad, but might not set the world on fire either. Rumors are that Ayato will be an on-field Hydro DPS, and waifu factor aside I think that sounds more interesting. Without taking glitter into account I have more than enough for a hard pity, but I'm still on the 50/50 so I might skip Yae.
And on a different note. Why do you supposed they decided to make the Traveler so terrible? I'm been messing around with him for the first time in a while while farming up Miko supplies and he is just terrible. All 3 versions.
The anemo version is ok as long as the burst actually effects enemies. But for heavier targets, which is most enemies you'd want it to work on, it just does nothing. It's great against trash and farming the veridescent set domain but that's about it. All they need to do to fix it is a hold Q to make the tornado stay in one place gimmick.
The geo version is just so clunky. Damage and utility is actually pretty ok but playing it is not is a fun experience. You waste so much time aiming rocks. All they need to do to fix that is make it so when a rock springs up under enemies it sends them flying instead of having them stand on it.
The electro version... yikes. I don't know.
You'd think there should be at least one version that would be at least moderately good right?
Probably for the same reason Aloy is underwhelming, the price of being free. But then you have to add in the extra layer of the Traveler attuning to any element. Flexibility over effectiveness. As for the different versions we have now, I'd probably rank Geo first, then Electro, and then Anemo as far usefulness goes. As far as what's the most fun to play? For me the only answer is Anemo really. But he can kind of be anti-synergistic with a lot of other units due to the Burst sending enemies away from you. So far I'd say that the running theme with the different Traveler iterations is that they're ghetto versions of that Element's Archon.
Geo - he used to be the budget option if people didn't have Zhongli but wanted a Geo support for resonance. Since the indirect buffs to Albedo and the additions of Gorou and Yunjin, he might have lost his niche perhaps. But I think he's easily the most useful of the 3 personally. His burst can deal decent damage, both abilities count as a construct, usefulness as a battery, and and he can grant crit rate.
Electro - Just a good Electro battery. Offers really nothing outside of that, but he can be an okay substitute for Fischl if you use Beidou for instance. His ability to grant recharge is reminiscence of Raiden but obviously the damage output isn't even in the same universe.
Anemo - Decent damage but really no reason to ever use him over Sucrose. Like I mentioned before, his Burst is troll as fuck - shitter version of Venti's. Probably the most power-creeped of the 3 by other units in the game. There's just too many really good anemo options. So if you have any one of them (besides Xiao), there's literally no reason to use him.
