That is very sad. They shouldn't have made that kind of joke, it's ridiculous. I would support the otaku to ban the anime as some sort of action although banning the anime wouldn't make Ichiki happy in any other way. This can't be paid back, not even if he got a position as a VA some time in the future. Poor him.

Definitely taking it a bit too far but well, that has nothing to do with the anime you may disrespect the person behind this but always respect the original work. It's not like it was made by him alone.

I do not know. I only know that the seiyuu are being criticized harshly for what they did and it is possible that they won't get many job offers after this.

I am happy that they support Ichiki-san, but the way they do it is a bit over the top, I say.

Kokoro Connect Staff Issues Statements on Performer's Treatment

On Sunday, the official website for the Kokoro Connect anime issued a statement regarding the treatment of voice actor Mitsuhiro Ichiki at a June 24 advanced screening of the series. Ichiki had auditioned for a character who was not in Sadanatsu Anda's original light novel series, and he was invited to the streamed event, purportedly as a surprise voice cast member.

At the event, the staff and cast informed Ichiki that he would act as the Head of Public Relations for the series, and not as part of the voice cast. The staff and cast revealed to Ichiki that his audition process was fake, in what the news source Netlab reported as a "Candid Camera-style project." (This part of the event can be seen in the event's Ustream archive at the 1:06 mark.)

While Ichiki accepted the position of Public Relations Head, criticism of the event (and the ensuing laughter and teasing he received from other participants) began appearing on online forums. The criticism eventually led an overwhelming flow of comments to the blogs and Twitter accounts of people directly and indirectly involved with the event. That prompted the official statement, signed by "The Entire Staff of Kokoro Connect," which apologizes for "insufficient consideration regarding performers" leading to "widespread discomfort and misunderstanding."

I'm under high pressure, and when I say high, it means really high.

I have lots of work already but my lecturer mercilessly just gives me more work. I'm honored that he trusts me, but still... I just can't keep track on what I'm supposed to do anymore. Everyday, I always look tired, even at the morning when I still just wake up. Moreover, the last three weeks were spent on getting mad at people. A little provocation and I'll snap. My friends who eventually become the target of my anger are quite confused as to why I lost to anger easily these days. Even I am confused, but I guess I'm just losing patience.

That sounds really stressful, I suppose you can't talk to your lecturer about it can you?

Being fair is hard for human. Well, I also heard that Ichiki himself doesn't hold more grudge over this (which I doubt, since it should have scarred him for life), or at least he doesn't want the problem to become bigger.
I just hope that people will learn a great lesson from this.

Thinking about it again, that's what Ichiki should do, I think. It must be very painful, but it's not something which can be paid back as I said. So I can only hope that he is given the biggest heart God could ever give and let him move on somehow in life. He deserves that.

And those who play the prank, well... One day they will have to pay for it.

I probably would be a bit angry/sad and most likely wouldn't work on anything that director is involved with but besides that oh well. After all the ruckus it caught something like this will probably never happen again, at least for a very long time.

I try to see it from his perspective and as harsh as it may be it's just too much when saying "the biggest heart God could ever give" and "let him move on somehow in life" (sorry vio XD). There are millions of people who have it way worse compared to him so what hearts do these people must have? Giant-sized maybe?

This is such an exaggeration that it actually sounds silly when you think of these people.

But seriously, part of my mantra is to not make a big deal out of anything...good or bad. So that's probably sucky and might be traumatic but this sort of fanboy nerd-rage over it...mistakes are made everyday. Ones which have much bigger consequence than something like this. People need to get off 2ch every once in a while.
