I saw the movie by mistake... in the beginning it wasn't so bad. but then it just became disgusting. whenever I remember it I feel like vomiting :S
it kinda made me hate anime a little...

You got to have the stomach to love it though. :S As a literary work is awesome and overall artsy, but to love it ... wow.

Considering that manga and this adaptation are ten years apart I do not believe it is quite honest to the original ...

I read this one a couple years ago. The gross out power of this manga is astounding, it left me with a weak stomach everytime I read several chapters. It didn't get easier to handle the more I read either because it just keeps. getting. worse.

Call it art or whatever but one thing is for sure, it has a strong effect.

Didn't really feel affected by it. Maybe I have a strong stomach?
Anyway, fun read. Trashy horror by Ito. Thumbs up. Though the movie looks awful. Don't understand why they made Kaori the main...

And that The Sad Tale of the Principal Post one-shot was hilarious. Short and sweet.

Kudos for keeping it together Googlez, your tougher than me. I guess manga like this really gets to me when I start to imagine it as a real life situation. The stuff with the girlfriend was the absolute worst..the bloating and all the tubes going in to orifices..yeesh, it was nasty.

I didn't find Gyo nearly as enjoyable as Uzumaki, but I still thought it was better than Tomie. Junji Ito's oneshots tend to be his best work, I think. However, I do like his humorous auto-biographical take on living with cats for the first time.
