I'm so sad there's only two (1 1/2) seasons of Happy Endings. Such an awesome show...

I watched the pilot of 30 Rock but it really failed for me. The quality of the episode didn't help either, but I'll try to give it a try. I tend to find pilots rather average on an overall basis. Modern Family's pilot was okay.

Oh, Arrested Development has a 9,4(!!) on IMDB! I'm definitely checking it out.

Louie is sort of like a slice-of-life comedy series. It's pretty nuanced and dark. But it's one of my favorite shows.

Woot.

I'm the same way with pilots. Community's pilot was a big let-down for me, for example, but I ended up loving the show. I actually never saw the Modern Family pilot, so I don't know how it compares to the rest of the series. I started watching when it was a few episodes into the first season already. Can't remember the 30 Rock pilot, but I thought I liked it. That whole style just might not be your cup of tea, which is fine.

Arrested Development has a huge cult following, so I'm not surprised it's rated so highly on IMDB. It's a brilliant show... a little weird at times, but always hilarious. Pretty much every character on there is insane.

I'm going to have to check out Louie. Dark comedy, slice of life.... sounds like something I'd enjoy.

It's only natural really, as shows tend to get better and better the more they run as the crew get to know each other better and the characters are more exploited. Until the shows hit their peaks and start going downwards that is. Even so I find it strange that I so rarely am left with an impression of "this show looks really good", or just "wow!".

If we go over on more serious shows, take Dexter for example. I'm not sure if you follow it or not, but the pilot was so weird. Well Dexter himself was super weird and inhuman in season 1 to begin with. But that pilot was such a hit or miss, and many are.

A show that had a great pilot though was HIMYM. Basically just because Barney was hilarious from the first episode and totally won the show from the start.

@Nuno - I've actually never even seen the HIMYM pilot. ^^; I didn't start watching the show until after Lily and Marshall were already married (looking at the wikipedia season summaries, looks like I started somewhere in season 3). I should really go back and watch those first two seasons sometime. But I think it might be a little weird to see Robin and Ted as a couple. They've had their sweet moments here and there since, but I don't know...

I think I just wrote one just for fun and to see what it would be like to do it. I never planned on doing it regularly. And it was waaaay back... even before I joined the staff, I believe.

It was a mix of good and crappy. The crappy part was that I had to work Saturday and Sunday while sick (I even called in sick to work on Friday due to having a fever, which is very rare for me). But I did go out and try to have a relaxing dinner last night with some friends, which was really fun. And then today, I went to a low-key barbecue. The food was great and so was the company. I just wish it had been a little cooler outside. It's been sweltering here the last two days. When I walked out of work yesterday at 5pm, the heat just smacked me in the face. I spent all day in air conditioning, so I had no idea it was soooo hot. I checked my phone to see what the temp was, and it said 97 degrees. I think it was about the same today, too. Feels like August, not May.

Well my weekend was kind of like that minus the meeting with friends w/ dinner part. I wanted to say minus friends with benefits part but that would been to ecchi . I had work for another company on Friday / Saturday - Monday. Could not go on Friday because I already had work that day and Saturday I didn't feel like going so I canceled - did get some shopping done on the weekends though - just groceries and things.

The weather's been horrible here too - I think today was about 90 here and I though I had it bad when I got out the A/C and took a step outside. Well being outside today was kind of a pain .

There was a bit of an issue at work too but I think I'll save that for the confession thread.

Maybe not, if you have to work outside in it all day long. But I can't stand that feeling of being inside in 90+ degree weather with no air conditioning. It's suffocating. And I never feel like I'm completely clean, even right after a shower. I always feel just a little sticky. Fans and open windows help, but they really just blow the hot air around. Maybe I'm just weak or spoiled, but I need air conditioning.

Yeah, I can see that somewhat. Although I would disagree about Barney, since he's so identifiable with certain lines or phrases.

I like all of the other characters, too, but I think I'd have to say Ted is my least favorite character. I know he's supposed to be the "nice guy" or the "good guy" or whatever, but most of the time he's just pretty bland.

So happy to be watching Happy Endings, got a few episodes of season 2 left, and I'm sure I'll go back and watch the whole thing again. It's awesome. Brad is my idol they are all such good characters, even Jane and Alex.

I've seen it all!!!(But the video above is not available in my country) I think I may have posted that video somewhere or just seen it. It was hilarious though; "I won't sue if I poo" classic Brad. I just love his swagger, the whole time I see him on screen, I'm like " I gotta get myself a suit combo like that for work " lol

After him though I think either Penny or Max would be my next favourite characters, but they are all so funny. Ahhhhh Good rec, definitely gonna pass it on
