I am looking for a translations proofreader to check over my translated works so that there aren't any errors in them.

I mainly translated Kinnikuman, a wrestling manga with multiple series where the original has been sporadically fan translated and the sequel series, Nisei, was licensed and brought over by Viz Media. It's relatively unknown in the west. I myself am translating the 2011 revival series and the 4 volume Shonen Jump Nisei series 'All Out Choujin Assault', and would like someone to ensure I don't make any mistakes in translating.

You can see all my works here. http://herculesfactory.tumblr.com/main_catalog

My translation style is mostly influenced by the style 4kids took with the dub, wherein the wacky setting of superhero wrestling leagues is played up and every wrestler has different speech patterns and mannerisms, which helps with the already noticeable mannerisms there. I also try to avoid the annoying practices of typical fan translators, as in I translate or leave out honorifics (san, kun, chan, senpai etc) and find ways to make Japanese jokes or sayings work in English since that's what translation entails.

As for a skill level, a decent grasp on Japanese grammar and language would be satisfactory.

The job would go like this: I translate a chapter of a volume and send you the translated chapter and script to check over and point out any mistakes. We can either check together over a chat or email each other the changes, though I prefer the former for efficiency. This would be unpaid work.

To enquire further, email me at [email protected].
