ive always wondered about that. why dont artist have like 5 assisstants to help them out just in case? and why dont they have at least 5-10 chapters finished ahead of jump just in case someone gets sick?

Not exactly, we are not really in a situation where there are no justifications. The Jump is giving justifications for these absences and they will announce it when the date will be decided.
You made a good point. I dont understand why Jump didnt prepare itself better for the return of HxH. The Togashi way of working is well known, so why didnt they prolonged the former hiatus and prepared some sort of backup. They could've waited Togashi finished a Tankobon and then started with the serialization. This way, in the event of "a problem" with Togashi (which is, by now, almost a certainty), the magazine could just slow the pace down and release a chapter every 2 weeks.
