Hisoka againnst Pariston, in a fight or even better, a mind game.

They're for me the best villains in all mangas for a while, for their cunning, for the intelect, for everything. I would like to read the others members opinions and situations about what would happen inf the had a strugle.

Well they are both cunning and really good at mind games but Hisoka has one main disadvantage.

We don't exactly know what Pariston really wants except that he does things for the fun of it. Hisoka is the same but we know that what he wants is fight against strong opponents, there is something about him that is predictable and that could work against him, he wouldn't do anything that would cost him a good fight. Plus he likes so much fighting with what he considers worthy people that he gets too fixated on them. We can see this at the scene where Hisoka and Illumi met for the first time at this new arc. Illumi told him that he was so fixated on Kuroro that he completely missed on the ants and a chance to fight them and Netero. Hisoka even said that he wasn't good at setting his priorities and he suggested that Illumi be his manager:amuse

Pariston could use that to his advantage in many ways while he himself, from what we've seen this far, doesn't really have anything that someone could use against him, so my vote goes to him. It would be a close call though:)

Based off of feats: Hisoka.

Based off of hype: Pariston.

Pariston is a triple star Hunter and while it's not necessarily due to strength having strength can possibly help in getting a triple star rating.

Difficult to say whitout at least having a glimpse on Pariston's nen capabilities. So I go with the hard to predict option =]
Though, I might add that I don't see this battle happening in the manga, mainly because I have this idea that Hisoka praises more fighting type guys over manipulative ones when choosing with whom to fight <_<

(I am new to this forum by the way, nice to be here! I used to post on a now disappeared forum (nxg) before the hiatuses a looong time ago, i really missed that! Hxh is the best for discussing!:^_^)

What's funny is that Hisoka and Pariston have lots in common. Like Ging and Pariston, Hisoka is also one of those characters who's goal is very fluctuating, depending on what situation brings him the most pleasure.

I'd just say that Hisoka is 100% battle oriented, that gives him the upper hand on pretty much anyone in a fight.

If it's purely a mind battle without fists, god knows what would happen, but Hisoka is pretty extreme and efficient in those situations too. He was in a very bad spot when the predictions were made in York Shin, but fooled everyone including Kuroro and turned the situation to his advantage. That situation kinda reminds me of how Pariston manipulated the zodiacs and the hunters. They both played the riskiest cards with confidence.

There can be no real outcome to this debate.

We know very little about Pariston's fighting ability - I assume he is a strong fighter for three reasons

1. Triple Star Hunter - there are limits to how much mind games you can play, you still have to fight occasionally.
2. He felt being healed from a long distance away.
3. He is being introduced as a Core Character Cast (aside from 4 protagonist in the Manga) - Like Kuroro/Zeno's Family/Ging/Hisoka/Notero - they all have one thing in common, they are very strong.

We will have to wait and see what Pariston is capable of in fighting skills - but the manga is long due for a serious fight scene of Human vs Human (They are much more interesting fights than ants, because the ants were born to be strong)

Fighting Skills: Hisoka

Mind Games: Pariston

Hisoka isn't cunning, he just likes to play with his food before eating.
Pariston on the other hand, is much more twisted (since he doesn't lift a finger by himself). Being a 3 star hunter doesn't mean anyhting in fighting terms, just that he accomplished a lot of stuff, but since he felt Alluka's aura from a distance, we can at least conclude that he's a pretty skilled Nen user (which, again, doesn't mean he's a strong fighter).

Hisoka's pretty quick witted, seems to me what he likes the most is mind games..his whole personnality is about getting off fooling strong and intelligent people like Kuroro, he showed that during york shin arc plenty enough...even his abilities are a reflection of that, they're adaptable but not straightforward weapons.

He's just not a politician, if he was to get other people do his killings that wouldn't make any sense

You know...at first I thought Pariston would be Transformation because He is similar to Hisoka. Then I thought He was manipulation because that seems his main characteristic...Now I think He's Emission based. He doesn't lie, He just hides the truth and picks his words awfully fast and clever. I'm basing myself on Hisoka Nen Test, of course.

And I can't possibly know. Pariston maybe too much hype, but you don't become a Zodiac because you're just smart. After all they're the playing mates of Netero.

Thanks for pointing that out...All of the Zodiac's are capable battle wise because they were playing mates of The late Hunter President and are 3star hunters. Pretty sure each have frightening and unique Nen abilities. Partison is almost Ging's equal it seems as neither of them dress to their Zodiac sign.....Now I think it would honestly take a skilled 2star hunter or an apt 3star hunter to defeat Hisoka...And until Partison is shown kicking some ass we can't say...I vote Equal at the moment.

Hisoka is Chrollo's level while I think Pariston/Ging are closer to Netero's level. We don't know how strong Pariston is, but if he is playing Ging's archenemy, we could assume he as skilled as. Furthermore, both of them seem way more skilled than the rest of the Zodiacs.
Hisoka and Chrollo's skills put them on a tier they could fight one on one against any of the Chimera Ants Royal Guards, but their power output showed in the Heavens Arena put them way below Netero's level.
Ging is presented closer to Netero's in terms of power level, so Pariston should be. In terms of intellect and cunning, Hisoka is only good at hunting, fighting and surviving, he was tricked by Chrollo in many ways, way below Pariston in those aspects.

I think the Chrollo vs. Hisoka fight demonstrated that Hisoka does get too focused on one opponent. He wasn't paying attention to anything else going on in that fight except for the tactics being used against him and Chrollo- even though he knew Chrollo's bodyguards would be around, if not interfering. I know the Spiders said that if they couldn't hold their own in a fight against an opponent their comrades wouldn't step in to help them, but that didn't stop Shalnark from telling Uvogin how to get rid of the leeches after the immediate conflict was over against the Mafia's goons back in the Yorknew arc. Technically he should have just left Uvo to work it out if they were that strict about it. They also don't always follow everything that Chrollo has ordered, so take what they say with a grain of salt at the very least. I think Hisoka started killing the spiders off after the fight because he realized Chrollo, or the spiders (even if they were ordered not to interfere) had not let him have his 1 vs 1.

Can Hisoka outsmart Pariston? I think given enough prep work, absolutely. He has a habit of exposing important information about his opponents' plans to characters who he has a near equal desire to fight, or at least some interest in keeping alive. If he gained enough dirt on Pariston, he could throw some serious monkey wrenches into Pariston's endgame, especially if he wants to fight Ging instead of letting Pariston have all the fun. On the other hand, Pariston is someone I regard as having more access and fewer restrictions than Hisoka does in terms of getting resources, and that's not going to work out in Hisoka's favor. I can practically hear Pariston mocking Hisoka. "By the way, a little bird told me you enjoy fighting particularly strong opponents. How does about a thousand of them sound to you? I hope you enjoy yourself." lf Hisoka really wants a chance against Pariston, he's likely going to have to drop the more overt battle tactics (element of surprise excluded).

All the Zodiacs are supposed to be very strong, I think Ging was the strongest of the group but I don't really get that impressio from Pariston. He doesn't see himself as someone strong(doesn't matter considering his personality). He is probably powerful but I don't think he is at Ging's level, I see him making up for that with guile, they are the only ex-Zodiacs who hid their abilities from the others. Their clash won't be that straightforward.

Hisoka and Chrollo have no chance against any of the Royal Guards and it's the same for the Zodiacs right now. Hisoka, Chrollo, Illumi, Silva and Zeno are definitely at the level of the Zodiacs.

In a fight, considering his portrayal and the lack of feats, I think Hisoka would win. Mind game? It depends on the situation but Pariston most often than not I guess? Hisoka is more like Gon with his craftiness. If it's about who is smarter I think it's Pariston.

While Hisoka was ranking the Zodiacs, he gave me the impression he was not that that amused with what he was seeing.
Between Pouf, Pitou and Youpi, I think Pouf could be certainly matched by a Nen user with a good manipulation / transformation / materialization hatsu.
Pitou main feature is speed and in my opinion could be matched by Hisoka or Chrollo as Kaito gave a good fight to it.
Youpi on the other hand seems to much strong and resilient and being able to fight at distance, it makes to hard for a single Nen user to face it.

I don't think so, after the fight pitou showed a lot of bruises, that was togashi saying "yeah, that was quite a fight" but then he makes pitou into a tank, surviving direct hits from the king (with intents to kill her) and netero's hand witout a scratch.
You might think that kaito was an amazing fighter but I think togashi didn't know how powerful pitou would become when he drew that panel.
I mean, kaito doesn't land a single hit against pitou after we know her feats

What do you guys think about this line? I don't think he has a reason to lie there, maybe he can fight, who knows..

Hisoka was not amused by the average level of Hunters and thought the Zodiacs should be his next targets. The three RGs have too much aura and good physical abilities. What Kaito did was off-screen and she was probably testing her abilities, all of them can take Meruem's hit without dying, their aura is massive etc. Hisoka and Chrollo are outmatched.

What do you guys think about this line? I don't think he has a reason to lie there, maybe he can fight, who knows..

I really want to know what are the limits of observation skills to gauge your opponent's level. When Hisoka did this, I assumed he was gauging their aura output and still do, even those with lower marks could be stronger than the others when you include their fighting style and more importantly their Hatsu but recently we goy Yurikof who can learn a lot more than that and the extent of Ging's talent is unknown. I do believe that he is underestimating Pariston but I am not sure Marione is the strongest here, how strong is Marione in the first place? That's also unknown. Pariston is still hiding his ability.

I think hisoka's reading is very vague. He is reading opponents by the looks of them and maybe initial aura, based on his experience (wich is a lot)
It's like when you become pretty good in a game or sport, you see some guy do 2 or 3 movements and you can already tell if you are better, sometimes it's true, but you'll never know until you try. He'll always find himself winning in his mind and that cockyness killed him already.
Also his observation could be way off, challenging netero was a bad call from him, he doesn't stand a chance there.

Maybe Hisoka is right 80% of the time but I'll trust Morel here in this matter
