Hitsugaya VS Gaara

(yes I'm dead serious when I say I have no idea where else to post this!)

I'm guessing there's enough people here who have read both Bleach and Naruto for there to be an interesting discussion on this subject. Don't just rage about how it could never happen!

Hitsugaya Toshiro:

Strongest of all ice element zanpakutō in Soul Society
Controls Water/Ice
Bankai allows him to freeze/shatter any enemy he stabs.
Can use his spiritual energy to fly (or w/e his flying trick is, who cares He can fly!)

Gaara of the Desert:

Controls Sand
Shield of sand auto-blocks any attack/Layer of sand protects his skin
Can crush opponents using sand
Uses sand to fly

The impossibilities of an actual fight ever happening aside, who do you think would win?

For the sake of the fight, this is the Kazekage Gaara, calm and collected, Before the one-tailed beast is extracted from him. Hitsugaya does NOT have his power 'limited' as often happens to SS captain who go to the human world. (so they're pretty much both at full power)

As far as their reason for fighting each other, you'll have to use your imagination, but they will be fighting to at least somehow incapacitate, if not kill, the other.

Where the battle would theoretically take place has been decided (by me) as...A sandy beach by the ocean!



Be sure to include your reasoning for the potential win/lose/draw!

Depending how this goes, there's a few other match-ups I'd like to post (I'm sure we could go on forever about Naruto VS Ichigo)

Gaara had absolutely no chance here. Hitsuguya is many times faster than the characters who have speed blitzed Gaara successfully. Plus he could just beat him with a single kidou spell.

^have to go with her, naruto speed compared to bleach speed isn't comparable, Hitsu as much as I dislike him would beat the holy hell out of gaara.

even if gaara sand spheres hitsu could probably just freeze him with a slash of his bankai.

there's just to many factors in the bleach/naruto verses that makes it so 2 characters can't really fight on par.

Hmm...why does Hitsuguya even need his shikai? He can end this by just flash stepping next to Gaara and impaling him. I guess if he doesnt want to end the fight in such a boring way and if he has those basic kidous that even Rukia has (we assume he has) then he can just point at Gaara and blast him with blue fire or bind him and move in for the kill. And yeah, I like Gaara better but he doesnt even have a 1% chance here. Only way Hitsuguya might need to use a shikai or a bankai is if Gaara starts the fight encased in a giant ball of sand.

Water and Ice beats Sand anytime, so it's obviously gonna be Hitsugaya.

I see many here are basing Hitsugaya's PWN on speed, which I agree with. Going on that, I think a better matchup for Hitsugaya would be Raikage. I'm pretty sure Raikage can break out of Sennen Hyorou with a lariat.

Naruto levels of power isnt as high as Bleach levels of powers

Though If this was a fair elemental fight , Hitsugaya will still win .......However if this takes place in a desert or the moist areas the results may vary (Gaara having the advantage in the desert and Hitsu having the advantage in moist area's (see:harribel and replacement- sixth espada fight)

My impression was that the overall power level used in bleach was of a grander scale of that used in naruto. Seriously, just so that the captains could fight it was nessesary to create an alternate KT while when we saw the kages fight the fight could mostly be contained in a single room (however large it was). Hitsugaya would just shunpo, tear the ultimate defense to shreds, shunpo back, have a drink, shunpo in again and stab gaara before the guy even knows his defense was actually broken.

Also, hitsugaya is kind of a ghost, would gaara even see him lol.

As thing stand I would argue that currently the VCs are at the level of kage level individuals.

That auto-guard of gaaras could create interesting counter opportunities for gaara if toshiros unaware, gaara could just substitution jutsu then go for the offensive version of the attack he used to protect the Hidden Sand, his orb of sand would give him the thinking time to come up with a strategy too. The whole thing about different scales of power in the mangas factors in, but if gaara can draw him away from the water his chances increase exponentially as he'll have all the advantages what with soil being everywhere

Speed is his only setback but if his sand could adjust to push gaara out of harms way instead of just blocking id give it to gaara

I don't think gaara can draw hitsugaya away from water for two reasons. First of all hitsugaya can use all the water of the atmosphere at his whim. Basically gaara has to force hitsugaya of the atmosphere to succeed at that. The second reason is that even if there is no water nearby or the atmosphere, hitsugaya still can use his attacks, he doesn't necessarily have to have enormous amounts of water at hand because he can control the weather to get all the water he wants. Gaara would lose regardless of whether he fights in the driest desert of the world or the biggest ocean. Considering how hitsugaya's ice works when he uses the true power of his zampakuto, odds are little by little every bit of sand thrown at him would eventually end up covered in ice and the moment a single snowflake touches gaara he loses. Personally, I don't think hitsugaya would even need to release even if in a desert....

You see heres were the power scale factors, cos that using the atmosphere rot just sounds good to describe power in a shonen, but if toshiro was that badass id expect more wreck caught by him in Bleach. If hallibel gets outta toshiros ultimate attack(which he struggles to control) i see gaara using his basic ninja sense to completely cover himself with sand & just break out of the obelisk. From there Only sneaky ninjas tricks are gonna pull gaara out of this

In that filler arc with the Shukaku in the original Naruto anime series, the fillains used some sort of chakra-enhanced water jutsu so that Gaara was unable to control his sand. I know, it's FILLER but it's the closest we have to Gaara actually fighting a water user.
Gaara's sand abilities have a weakness in terms of actual speed. If the opponent is faster than the sand shield can keep up, the technique is practically useless. However, being as this rendition of Gaara is pre-RG arc Shippuden Gaara, he probably improved his sand's speed to keep up with faster opponents. At least we know he can innovate just as much as Hitsugaya can.
Where the battle takes place also plays a role into this fight. (i.e. Gaara having the advantage on home turf- Village in the Sands, with a lot of sand to control and little humidity/water in the atmosphere for Hitsu to control). However, since the battlefield is automatically a sandy beach, none of that homefield advantage takes any real relevance.
Both Gaara and Hitsugaya will have an advantage on the sandy beach; Gaara being able to control all of the sand there and Hitsugaya has enough water in the atmosphere and surrounding area to likewise manipulate. In terms of a battle like this, the one who pulls off a killing move the quickest will probably have the real advantage.
Gaara is the one with the least inhibitions to kill; his sand technique is practically designed to kill your opponent. Hitsugaya may have a sword that can control ice but unless the ice has the ability to resist the crushing forces of Gaara's sand, it won't stand a chance.
Both Hitsugaya and Gaara have access to greater power; the former has a Bankai while the latter has the access of a Biju's power (at this time). Hitsugaya's Bankai may be compressed on his person but regardless I don't think he can stand a chance against a 100 meter tall sand demon. Then again, since this is Shippuden Gaara, he probably won't release the beast. In fact, Gaara will most likely resist the beast's temptations of their full strength. Gaara probably won't transform into full or even partial Jinchuriki form; Gaara will never really fight at full power. It's really difficult coming up with a real definite winner out of this situation. I'll pick Gaara because he has the potential to use bigger and badder techniques than Hitsugaya does.

He kinda destroyed Harribel with that tech with minimal effort. 'Struggle to control'? He hardly did crap, that entire fight was laid back. Granted Tenso Jurrin is something he might lose control of in bankai, but that kind of situation would just make the utter rapage that happened rape everything around even harder.

Garra's sand shield just encasing him the whole time sounds nice and everything, but frankly the thing is not impenetrable, Deidara proved that, though granted he had to do so with a halfway point, and I heavily doubt it's completely immune to being chiped away and destroyed by ice and water.

Even the Bijuu being released, which will give Hitsugaya problems no doubt, isn't as nice as it sounds given Garra's just going to be a big fat target on it.

Gaara is one of my favorite naruto characters, but hitsu definitely win. the power scales on Bleach are too high compared to naruto. They are death gods for goodness sakes while in naruto they are just human ninjas

Normal people can't see shinigami so hitsu has even more advantages than he needs. I agree with whoever said that power levels between the two are just too big. The only character I can see being strong enough to put up a fight against a shinigami would be Rikudou Sennin but we don't know enough about his abilities to have a fictional fight involving him.

For the Bleach sight thing, frankly the automatic assumption that both people can be seen is a given, and even if it weren't, you could make a damn good case that chakra users could 'see' the supernatural anyway by meshing the mechanics.

My first thought was that a beach would be the perfect place for this fight.

Then again, since Hitsugaya's ice supply is practically unlimited, he'd probably win no matter where they fought. Not to mention he has speed and kidou.

Hm, It's seems this battle is won already. I doubt Gaara (B.A. as he is) will be be able to catch up, especially since this was moved to the bleach section lol.

There are a few other NvB fights that I would like to post, but it seems I'll have to choose non-captain levels from the bleach universe. As was pointed out. (Power-creep has turned them all into beasts!)

At least the thread worked as intended.

I like the characters in Naruto as well as the fights in Naruto BUT the captains in Bleach will PWN any and all characters in Naruto with speed, strength and endurance alone....Bleach characters > Naruto characters...They are too fast, too strong, they can fly, they are invisible, their threshold for pain is MUCH higher than the characters in Naruto, their reiatsu alone will protect them from most jutsu that can be used on them like what happened between Kenpachi and Ichigo etc...There are too many reason why Hitsu will PWN Gaara and anyone else in Naruto besides fire users..
