I was browsing over a multitude of posts at the Naruto 453 Discussion/454 Prediction thread debating whether Minato's Hiraishin is speed or plain S/T jutsu, whether Minato's base speed could keep with Raikage's speed while his Raiton Armor is on, etc. When a thought came to me.
Minato and Raikage (and now, even Naruto) are considered speed demons. Probably not just reflex speed demons but also blitz speed demons. Agreed? Naruto, with his recent RS powerup, surprised Tsunade by keeping up with the Raikage, who proclaims that with the Fourth dead, he is the fastest shinobi alive. Now: How is it possible for the Raikage keep up with or keep an eye against counter-attacks even without the sharingan?
In the Kakashi Gaiden, Minato tells Kakashi that the chidori is a dangerous jutsu and it is also noted in that part of the manga that it is, at the same time, an incomplete jutsu. For the chidori to be completely effective, one must move extremely fast towards the enemy more so because of the piercing nature of the jutsu. However, according to the Fourth himself, attacking this way puts oneself in great risk since it is hard to see any possible counter- attacks. He further emphasizes his point by forbidding Kakashi to ever using the jutsu.
Only when Rin transplants Obito's sharingan to Kakashi did the chidori became complete.
Now, look at the bottom panels on the left which shows the raikage anticipating where Minato would appear by looking at the hirashin kunais:

(Sorry, first time to post something like this and i cant seem to find the way on how to make the manga page appear automatically here. Again, pardon for the hassle. Anyway.)
Even though the kunai's were stationary, i think he was pretty confident that he can catch Minato if he were to appear in any of those kunai's. So, it is safe to say that his eyes can pretty much keep up with what is happening around him especially taking into consideration that he is still in motion while looking at the kunais. If that's the case, how does he do it without the sharingan and even more so with his astounding speed. Doesn't this go against what was shown in the kakashi gaiden? And remember, Raikage's speed is superior to Kakashi then and even now.
Thoughts?
