LOL, I cant believe there is a Osama thread, ahhh thats hilarious. If you have seen Farenhieght 911, then you would believe like I do that Bush played a part in the 9/11 crashes. I voted for Bush, twice, and really regret it. What happen to the USA man, this was the best country in the world and now everyone hates them

Oh my. You've been suckered by a lying filmmaker, my friend. Its not good to be so gullible, the man takes advantage of that and makes money off of you. Try not to drink the Kool Aide too.

Back on Topic, why is it that we still haven't caught him?

@redcometfm, have you seen the movie. Some stuff is pointless but all he does is speak facts in the movie. I didn't care what he thought about the facts that was given or what he thought was a connection but the facts themselves is what made me start thinking. I know he threw in some stuff just to make more money but the facts were still true. Theres actually a part 2 coming out. If you haven't seen the first one then watch it.

How do you know they're true, these "facts"? Because some filmmaker who has a talent for spinning things (vague things) told you so? Come on, man, think. I hope you're smarter than that.

If anything, go out and read some articles and books on these matters, you'll discover a lot you didn't know. 9/11 Commission Report would be a good start.

Miyi, I hate to call upon you again as support but I know you've definitely got things to add to this and about Michael Moore.

who says they are facts, the internet, who is telling u they arent. True, Its mostly speculation but the people he names and what they have done is fact. I think you misunderstood me, Im not calling whatever Michael Moore said fact, whatever he thought could be a connection was his thought, it makes sense but it is not fact. He just layed a bunch of stuff on the table and it made others and me start thinking outside the box. But when I was talking about facts I didnt mean everything Michael Moore thought in the movie.

You didnt answer my question, did you see the movie, cause you were just a kid when it came out. If you didnt, watch it and then do some research and you will see that it makes sense. And I did read most of the commision report, it's just too much to read

I study history, and I've seen Fahrenheit 9/11. I can tell you that after examining closely the facts, and how Michael Moore carefully distorted how these "facts" were presented in his films, all I have to say about Michael Moore is he is telling only "half-truths". If you put some of his allegations in the film in the larger context, you'll see where he is spinning things.

He can express himself, I don't care...that's his right. What I think of him, though, is that he is dishonest, and lack credibility. I cannot take Michael Moore seriously any more than I can take Wikipedia seriously.

I personally believe that there's no need to search for someone who has probably died by now. All of this hullabaloo over there is so freggin annoying. My thoughts? 9/11 was an inside job so we could get at the oil. C'mon, we're American, and the majority of us are greedy.

The news you watch on tv is propaganda, the information you read on the internet may be BS. Really how can you be sure of the truth. Books may be written by haters, who are one-sided who base their thoughts on false information. Everyone is a victim of propaganda, even if you believe it or not.

Exactly what's on wikipedia may be BS for all you know. The only realy way to know the truth is through self/actual experience.

So basically, US president "orders" British troupes to save his butt - nice title. Makes him -30% more popular over here >.>

Hey, at least Bush is doing something "productive" while a lame duck.
Jupp, he surely can't leave his seat without giving the way free to officially crash into another country to hunt for the main villain. To bad that this isn't a manga with a good plot. But well, nothing less expected from this man, he'll probably leaves with a bang (in either Iran or Pakistan, depends on the media interest).

Well then dont bitch about America thinking its the world's police because other countries are too stupid to be productive and contribute a little bit. You can complain all you want about Bush, but what the hell has your country's leader done for the fight on terrorism?

This kind of POV annoys the hell out of me because its so naive, so defeatist.

we're worried enough as it is with his un-popularity here at home..but leadership, as you know, has never been about a popularity contest.

officially crash into another country to hunt for the main villain.
There's already an American presence in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, we don't have to crash into their country, because we don't have to. Both Afghanistan and Pakistan are aware of this...they are in fact cooperating with American forces to combat al-Qaida and the Taliban, ever since 2001.

read THIS. It's a long read. (and don't worry that it's by the New York Times. I've read it, and it's ok).

In a nutshell, the New York Times piece summarized the situation as: we haven't caught bin Laden because of our preoccupation with Iraq, and repeated indecisiveness on the part of senior officials in Washington, and in-fighting between several intelligence agencies, as to how to capture bin Laden, and/or his officers.

There's been a covert mission planned since late last year, and the Democratic Congress approved it. The problem is that the administration has been reluctant thus far to give the greenlight.

...

Now that Iraq is getting more stable, we have Iran to worry about, so we can't really catch a break. It's clearly a distraction to the mission of capturing bin Laden. The best we can hope for at this time is to keep a close eye on both Iran and al-Qaida, which some experts claim, have "reconstituted" itself in the tribal areas of Pakistan. I doubt Bush will be able to capture or even find bin Laden, but that will be a task most likely to be handed to the next administration.

We have a fragile alliance with Pakistan. I think it is preferable that we have their cooperation, than not. Obama once stated, that he'll bomb Pakistan "with or without permission", if intelligence said bin Laden is hiding there. The consequence of such drastic action would result in engaging in a war with Pakistan (a country with a nuclear weapon, might I add)....which is yet another reason why not to vote for Obama.

You'd think Obama is a pacifist, but in his rhetoric, he's even more scarier than Bush, at times.

[EDIT]

I have a slightly different take than the NY Times' oversimplified view of the matter. New York Times claims we haven't caught bin Laden because we were "distracted" in Iraq. Not necessarily..

Neo-neocon puts it brilliantly:

Ah, but what about Pakistan? Yes indeed, al Qaeda is still there, hiding out in the tribal areas. But the war in Iraq has not kept us from doing anything about that; the political niceties involved in dealing with our “ally” Pakistan have.
With the assassination of Bhenazir Bhutto last year, Pakistan is currently undergoing difficult times, domestically. They haven't been able to fully utilize their energy into fighting terrorism, and so in many ways, we have been handicapped. As much as we want to go after bin Laden, we are trying not to aggravate Pakistan's struggling domestic politics. In other words, we're trying to be as least intrusive as we can, while at the same time, Pakistan is doing their best to cooperate, as it would be in their best interest, to capture bin Laden, more than anything.

this "dumb idiot"..is he by any chance, Bill Clinton? He virtually ignored/underestimated bin Laden throughout his presidency, even after bin Laden officially declared war on the USA, and orchestrated multiple terrorist attacks on US "non-combatants" and US embassies, etc.
