Yes, CrudeCross summed it up pretty well. The tone felt overall lighter then Yorknew and earlier arcs (because of the jarring and sudden color changes) But what I really disliked was the lazy animation, I chalk some of it up to early 2000's smaller budget animation just wasn't where it is today. It just feels crude compared to the first OVA's animation, just look at the Greed Island Final first opening animation. It's one of the worst pieces of animation I've ever seen. In terms of censorship there wasn't a ton, but some things were left out. I have friends who seem generally less enthused about GI as an arc due to seeing the OVA's first, whereas most of my friends who read the manga primarily love the arc. I think a lot of its due to how spotty the production values seemed in contrast to the 1999 series.
I remember 1999 and the first OVA fondly with nostalgia (its my favorite anime for a long time) but not so much Greed Island, so no matter what Madhouse does (unless they censor Bomber vs Gon) its going to be so much better for me simply by being animated better.
