So, was the part with Mizuken in the manga or not?

Wow great ep. I appreciated the call back to Gon unknowingly using Zetsu when hunting Hisoka, that was great. Also loved the bits with Kurapika, it feels canon, which is something filler scenes usually do not feel like. I enjoyed Kurapika's encounter with Mizuken and their chemistry, they play off eachother quite well. Would like to see more of them together, but probably won't for a while. Next episode is Kastro! He looks great, interesting colour choice, he has a yellow cape this time around.

But I am a little bit disappointed in this episode. It lacked animation. I actually prefer the 1999 version here because you
actually see Gon dodging the tops. Here it's all just still images. C'mon Madhouse you can do better than this!

Also they didn't show Gon bleeding from the head after he got by one of the tops.
It's not too a big deal here but I just hope that Hisoka vs Kastro still retains the violence at least somewhat.

All I can say is I just hope they weren't putting their all into this episode because they are trying to make Hisoka vs Kastro awesome.

Seriously though, I want to see some actual animation in a fight! If I wanted still images I read the manga.

Also still no Kite but that was to be expected.

This was a good episode. The fight it self was animated better in the 1999 series like mrsticky said. Though the music during the fight was awesome!

I like how madhouse included how Kurapika met his nen master. The next episode looks good, and I'm seriously! praying that the full Hisoka vs Kastro fight is shown and is greatly animated. If not I'm going to be insanely pissed off lol.

Maybe holding the budget for Kastro vs. Hisoka and Hisoka vs. Gon?
I do think the fight was animated well enough though for something that really isn't much of a fight to begin with haha.

Yeah, I am worried about future fights. It feels like they are going to half ass the fighting scenes.

To be honest, I was disappointed in the still images. (It reminds me of...that anime adaption I dare not speak the name of...) While I'm in a gripe mood, I also can seriously tell by now the staff here has their preferences in the acursed "shipping" If you catch my dirft. Seriously Killua was in a chair in the manga, Its not really that big a deal, but eh, thought I'd toss it out there.

But all around I found it to be a great episode. aside from the still images, I liked the other animations used in the fight, especially when gon was flying out of the arena. My favorite scenes though were in the second half where wing had that conversation with killua and realized he may be training monsters. Kurapika's intro to nen and his teacher was also nicely done here. The one time filler is useful is when it expands on something, and while I doubt some of the intro to his teacher was in the manga, I liked it. I Honestly felt that in the manga the guy was something of a boss, but he's only shown through those flashbacks. I doubt we'll see anymore of him other than the flashbacks, but it was a nice establishing momment.

I'd give this ep a 8.5. Not exactly nine material but I do think it deserves better than a 8, as it was still a damn good episode (besides I still liked the fight overall.)

All right next week kastro appears, and now that he is, we should all get ready for some contraversy. Its been a long while since the gon vs. honzo incident, but now this is really going to cause water to boil. While I doubt it'll cause as much debate as york shin when it eventually comes (which I know it will) This one has edge because I'll bet money, that wether the result is good or bad, theres STILL going to be a argument over SOMETHING.

Well, geuss I'll step off my soap box for now. Time to watch OP, Lupin, make some mots and maybe get some sleep

Mizuken is going to show up later as well, since we haven't seen him teach Kurapika yet.

I really don't think the animation was as bad as you guys are making it out to be. Not every fight can feature sakuga animation haha. Gon vs. Gido had just the right amount in my opinion. You had the awesome looking spots of Gon sent flying out of the ring as well as the well animated movements of the tops. The moments of still animation serve their purpose, which is to highlight Gon's recklessness. The look on his face as he dodges tells all, if it was incredible fast motion that moment would be lost. Besides I'd rather the budget of that fight go to more important battles such as Hisoka vs. Kastro and Gon vs. Hisoka.

@futurefrog Yeah, I agree besides the still shots the fight wasn't bad. Though... I'm seriously worried about Hisoka vs Kastro. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how that fight turns out.

We know one thing for certain, we will at least be getting to see the fight. The showed a part of the fight near where Hisoka loses his arm. Kastro looks great as well. I'm excited more than anything. Part of what I am enjoying so much about this new series is seeing how the source material will be adapted and I am most excited to see Hisoka vs. Kastro, a battle that was not animated in the old series. I think we all have been waiting for this since day one of this series. Next week will tell us a lot about the future of the series.

I'm sure they are saving budget for that fight. The still images in this episode at least served the purpose of highlighting Gon's reckless nature. So it's not really a problem it would be a problem in Hisoka vs. Kastro though a fight that should be well animated. I'm not worried though.

One of my favorite things about this episode was Killua and Wings conversation. I'm also pretty confident Kurapika's training will all be kept in the flashback during the Uvogin fight, just like in the manga.

Mizuken vs Kurapika was freaking hype. This episode was win to me, 9/10! The animation was still good, just not the best (I'd give it over a 9 if it was better). I really really hope we get a full episode of Hisoka vs Kastro even if its edited I just hope they make it a big deal.

I'm sure others enjoyed it too, but I love having the Nen explanation of the episode. I hope we keep at in the opening for a while longer. It'll probably help new fans familiarize themselves with Nen faster. Just a nice little touch.

Spoiler: Episode 30

Another great episode.

The episode covered chapters 50 and 51

The Heavens Arena intro got changed to an introduction about Nen.

Gon vs Gedo fight was done well. At least we get to see Gon get beaten up unlike his fight with Hanzo.

Confirmed: Gon used Zetso when he was stalking Hisoka

The comedic scenes were kept as they were, including Killua the Liar Cat.

I liked it when the music stopped at this point.

Nice little details here

I liked the soundtrack here as well and saw it fitting the spiritual atmosphere.

But the highlight of this episode was Kurapika's filler scenes and how he met his Nen master Mizuken which wasn't shown in the manga as far as I know.

Deleted Scenes:

The first when a random spectator next to Killua was making fun of Gon's stupid move which results in sending him flying by Killua.

The second is Gon thinking about his aunt Mito, Ging and yet again, Kite. I guess the staff really want to save him for the last minute.

It sucked seeing the fight cut off blood and it certainly reduced my hopes for the upcoming one.
