Usually Hunter x Hunter returns around the time new series begin serialization in Jump. There are two new series starting in September and no word of HxH, and October seems pretty unlikely seeing as it's only been a month since those new series started, so I'd say November (maybe).

Well, he was on a roll last time, let's hope he kept it.
But to be realistic:
I think he will do 20 chapters, and if we are lucky before next year.

He seemed to be on his limit last time , with the last chapters being sketchy and all.

Judging by how much story he is capable of fitting into 20 chapters, I could see him making a lot of progress with 20 chapters. Look at the most recent run for example, he did 30 chapters, ended one arc, began another, ended that arc and began yet another one. None of this felt rushed either. Togashi is a master of story telling and I look forward to what he brings us next.

Togashi's storytelling has this minimalist feel, where he only uses the barest words/expressions/panels/pages to convey a story. And it works because he still doesn't miss the details he wants to show us.

Exactly, he says so much with so little. He can just do a close up of Killua's expression and it tells us more than 20 panels of dialogue ever could. Another example of Togashi's incredible story telling ability is the chapter 'Gyro'. In one chapter he builds an entire history or both a country and a character, not only that but he builds said character up to be a big bad in the future as well as foreshadows future events regarding this character that before this chapter did not even exist. In one chapter he did all that. ONE CHAPTER.

Think of chapter 339. Look at how much he accomplishes in that one chapter. There is a pay off for nearly every major plot point in the entire series thus far there and set up for even bigger things to come. I don't need to think twice to say that Togashi is a genius mangaka. There is a reason that he is a member of the three T's. Tezuka, Tatsumi and Togashi. All 3 created very different manga in different genres and different styles, but all 3 are considered geniuses. There is a reason Togashi gets away with his hiatuses, he is manga royalty in Japan. Not even Oda could get away with what he does.

A little off-topic, but i'm really curious now: Who are those other 2 on the three T's you are talking about futurefrog? Or, to be more precise, which mangas they made for example? o.õ?

One chapter I think that had a pretty big impact for me was Chapter 311.
For over 10 volumes we were led to believe that nothing could be worse
than Meryem. We even wondered how Gyro could possibly be worse
When Meryem was this bloodthirsty insanely strong monster.
But then Togashi pulls out the mirror and we see the real monster.

"The rose held poison".

I love that line. It just seems poetic.
And how we see the explosion immediately after
the wine glasses clink. It's a great effect.

The sad part is how true 311 is.
We may not have the Rose Bomb
(no I do not thin it is a nuke. I'm quite
sure radiation sickness is not itself contagious)
but we have the mindset to build it.

It's amazing how much Togashi can say with so few words.

and how much nothing other authors can say in volumes. :teehee

Some people say 4 Ts to include Toriyama, but I see it more referred to as 3 Ts.
Here is the wiki of Tezuka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osamu_Tezuka
Here is the wiki of Tatsumi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshihiro_Tatsumi

Tezuka and Tatsumi were the geniuses of the first manga generation. Works like Astro Boy, Apollo's Song, Push Man and A Drifting Life, came from the minds of these geniuses.

Togashi and Toriyama are considered the innovators of the new wave (a wave that still continues today). Toriyama is often left out of the list though due to a number of reasons. Mostly that he didnt innovate or that his works weren't 'genius'. But it's up to you to decide really.

Togashi in my personal opinion is a true innovator of manga, he took a medium and turned it on it's head. He has done creative new things with manga on a consistent basis and has told incredible stories, with incredibly deep messages. Even his one-shots he did back in the 80s are incredible (although difficult to find).

Your 100% on the money. Togashi really has an amazing mind for manga. Kishimoto is lucky to have had him as his sensei.

One of my other favourite chapters is the one in which we see the woman breast feeding. I can't recall the chapter number off the top of my head. But he shows us a lot about the darkness of humanity within that chapter, that whole chapter reminded me of the entire Chapter Black story arc in YYH. As a matter of fact, Chimera Ants arc has a similar message to Chapter Black. Chapter Black message = Humans and Demons arent that different. Chimera Ants message = Humans and Beasts/Monsters arent that different.

I sometimes wonder if Togashi is somewhat projecting YYH into Hunter since he ended it prematurely. There are similar themes and similar character qualities that keep popping up. Then again, it could just be because both series were made by him.

It seems like he likes playing with certain themes: moral ambiguity, humans aren't that different from demons/beasts, light and shadow, corrupting innocence, the list goes on.

Togashi certainly has a unique way of telling his stories. Heavy exposition, facial expressions, poetic words. And he doesn't dumb any of this down. He lets the readers get their own impressions of the situation. Togashi may not have any many chapters as the other big WSJ manga out there, but his chapters are very heavy. What Togashi achieves in 30 chapters is the equivalent of like 60-100 chapters in Bleach.

Yeah, Togashi is a genius.

Yeah Astro Boy was made by Osamu Tezuka.
But he made a LOT more than just Astro Boy.

But yeah...Osamu Tezuka is more or less the Stan Lee of manga.
He's called the "godfather of manga" and for good reason.

Do yourself a favor and read some Tezuka. :verily

Yeah, Togashi is a genius.
Some difference between Togashi and Kubo is that Togashi only draws as much as he needs while Kubo only draws as much as he wants.
Togashi I think is more focused on the story than he is on the art. That's not to say Togashi isn't focused on the art. But story comes first.
Kubo is more focused on the art...specifically character art. Kubo focuses a lot on the emotions of characters and tries to provide a cinematic
feel to his manga. While I think Hunter x Hunter tries to stay low key most of the time. Bleach tries to make everything dramatic.
Togashi has a lot in so few chapters because he has a LOT he wants to tell. Kubo doesn't have much to tell. But he has much to show.
While I think HxH has better developed characters. Bleach I think seems to be more character driven. Almost all of Part 1 of Bleach
happens because of Aizen being who he is. However I think the Fullbring Arc really shows Kubo's storytelling in action. Kubo seems
to not be so concerned with the details of the plot (something that disappoints me) and is more about the "emotions" of the battle.

^As for Tezuka's work, I'll give it try. Phoenix does look interesting, but I'm probably reading Astro Boy first (Pluto is on my manga queue; heard they are somehow connected). Gotta look to where I can read it online, though (manga distribution, in certain parts of Brazil, can be quite non-existant; gets worse when you have no money for that ^^'). Thanks again for the replys guys.
As for the way Togashi writes his stories, heck, just gotta say Chimera Ants (the second part in particular) for that. Few publications I read come even close to the deepness (and not to say awesomeness) of the plot and storyline shown in this saga.
