just watched ep 85 of the anime. I was kind of disappointed at how Pitou was fleshed out. Because I remember reading the manga and Pitou creeped the bejeesus out of me. That particular sequence of events where Pitou perched on top of the mountain, released her ginormous and irregular En, and when she flexed her muscles, was supposedly kind of grotesque. But I didn't feel it while watching the anime.

Surprisingly though, when I described to my boyfriend (who didn't read the manga but is totally fanboy mode about the anime right now) the feelings I had while reading this part in the manga, he said that's what he exactly felt while watching the anime.

So maybe it's just me, or that if it's the manga, I was reading at my own pace and therefore could focus on certain panels that caught my attention, whereas in anime you kind of take it how the animators pace it.


How did it feel for you guys?

It lacked the sequence of Pitou touching them with his En, Pitou is male btw XD

It looked overall ok and Pitou's character is quite distinct

Pitou is male because Togashi likes to troll his fans. This is despite the fact that Pitou was compared to a 'mother' when he was guarding Komugi. If you want to be canonically correct, Pitou is male. If you want to go with what your eye sees, Pitou is most definitely female.

So you mean incredibly well?
One Piece has absolutely fantastic artwork and has more detail as a weekly series than most monthly series. What you don't like is the art-style. The art itself is great.

I like hxh thousands times more than OP but you have to agree with me that Togashi is a lazy bum of hell. Oda almost got himself killed before thinking on entering a 2 week hiatus lol

Yes. That's the point. Togashi is lazy and he can be better than Oda in many things. I'm not saying that Oda sucks. But, I rather prefer Toga-Sensei.

Yeah I agree, but one of these things is not the art. I still cant forgive him for using tracing...

Oda and Togashi should switch places. Oda's clearly not talented enough to have a coherent, large worldview and Togashi has no endurnace to continue drawing in the said world.

Wow, I cant believe you just said that Oda isnt talented enough, specially comparing him with Togashi. You could be right, I am interested in your reasoning for it. Could you please elaborate

One Piece basically has a plot that goes like:

1. Straw Hats go to an island.
2. Some kind of injustice happens there.
3. Straw Hats beat up the bad guys
4. Straw Hats party.
5. Go back to #1.

Now there's nothing particularly wrong with having a simplistic plot, except if you look at the interview with Oda or OP's random feeble attempts to have some kind of major overarching story roughly once every 10 volumes, the plot in theory isn't supposed to be that simple. There's the whole will of D, the ancient weapons, the lost story, and whatever the heck One Piece is actually supposed to be. After something like 70 volumes about all you know about the will of D is that guys that have D in their middle initial are special. This isn't foreshadowing or plot building. It's simply a complete inability to pace the story, and possibly he might not even know what the heck will of D is supposed to be. But, that doesn't mean Oda is bad. Not every person who can draw is supposed to be good at coming up with a large overarching story. Oda needs someone who can outline stuff like 'take about 5 volumes to talk about this and then next 5 volumes on that". That's why he'd work fine in HXH where there's plenty of material to work on and everything is already neatly paced.

On the opposite end Togashi, who has a hard time drawing 10 chapters a year, would do way better in a world like OP where there's no rigid restriction. Whenever he gets tired of drawing he can just have the Straw Hats completely annihilated due to one of the random dumb decisions made by Luffy (Togashi is pretty much merciless even on his main characters) and it wouldn't even be the craziest thing he has done.

Oh please stop. If thats your say Oda isnt talented enough, you shouldnt be saying that Togashi is any better. How many plots that had so much potential just got forgotten, like the Dark sonata, and I didnt even start talking about Leorio...
We learned about the Dark Continent but we barely know anything about the current one, besides NGL, York Shin and some other places
Besides, yeah togashi kills characters. But they are mostly useless ones or like Kaito, ends up coming back. Very few authors really kill their protagonist, mostly because its almost impossible to have a main objective that way, or at least it will make the history unnecessarily dark. Imagine if Oda killed luffy, or Togashi killed Gon...
