It would have helped if the anime was not on-going. With this, manga fans can't help but think about it. We don't want the anime to end either.

I'm sure most don't want unnecessary filler eps either. Due to the hiatus I'm sure for you anime watchers the anime is catching up fast to the manga, especially given how fast-paced the newer version is compared to the 1999 version.

I sometimes wonder that though. Do you think Togashi will turn around, say it's completed, and say
the Beyond Netero stuff never happened?
Chapter 339 would be a good ending spot, although that still leaves plot points that haven't been completed. Though in a way, YYH also had a weird stopping point and a rushed ending (although for different reasons). I wonder if he'll pull a similar rushed and/ or open ended conclusion to Hunter.

No I don't think so, but I do think that HUnter x HUnter will resolve without perfect conclusion to every plot thread. I don't think we will ever see Kurpika kill all of the Troupe, but instead give up on the revenge. I also think we will simply see Leorio become a doctor. Gon will continue to adventure the world and Killua will do the same with Alluka. I think in the world of adventurers that is Hunter x Hunter, the story will always go on even after it stops being told. It will live on forever in our hearts and in our minds.

I think the ending is not near, as Togashi has repeatedly said there will be 4 more arcs. I believe that he is considering the Kurapika chapters as a return already, so by that mark it has been about 8 months since the Kurapika backstory chapters. It is okay to keep waiting, because the longer he waits the more we know he is cooking up something genius for the Outside World arc.

If Togashi wants to end the story he can just make next chapter about a kid asking Grandpa Gon what was the Dark Continent like, and Grandpa Gon will be like 'that's a long story' and it'd be effectively the same as ending at chapter 339.

Gon should die and go to the spirit world and become a spirit detective.

That is... that is... that is Wolf's Rain, right!? Awesome anime! :zomg

I agree. It's great to see other artists and animators as Hunter fans. That is is a great drawing of Killua, and I'm assuming it's GI Killua based on the hands (or he could be wearing fingerless gloves for the hell of it). I love that look of determination in his eyes. :wtf

I wonder if gon and killua will ever go through puberty..... Its been a whole 3 manga years and so far not even a pimple from them. It seems like its about time something changes in their appearance right? How awesome would it be if next time killua appears he looks more like silva? Seriously, gon and killua have virtually not changed since they were 12 and now they are 14 or 15.... I hope alluka dies, I don't want a manga with just gon and not killua. Hopefully the taking care of alluka thing is not permanent.

Over here, I think Ging knows that Gon has a friend called Killua who can use Alluka to save Gon. He knew it ALL!

http://www.mangahere.com/manga/hunter_x_hunter/v29/c334/16.html
Overall I am inclined to thinking gin knew killua had a method to heal gon but gin himself knew nothing of alluka. That would imply ging was keeping tabs on gon and killua to some degree. It wouldn't be so difficult for gin, the guy is massively influential and can do outright absurd stuff with a mere computer (like changing that guys name and luck). So basically ging would have looked into the situation a bit, notice killua seemed to have a plan and trusted killua with it. Then again it might have been not so much trust as it could have been ging not having a better plan to remove an unfathomable nen from gon.

One of the more interesting things about the more recent arc are how pariston and gin seem to be designed to be polar opposites.

On one hand you have ging. He is scruffy looking, he gets bored easily.... As far as hunting goes he cares about making his prey go the way he wants. He has comrades even if quite a few people hate him. On the other hand you have pariston. He is tidy, he is relentless.... Quite a few people love him apparently but at the same time he has no actual comrades. As far as hunting goes he cares for the trolling, he cares about getting what he wants. Weird part is that even though those two are polar opposites they were not antagonists per say.

The reason why Ging knows Gon won't die is because he has the batphone and called up Togashi to know how the story is going to resolve. Pariston knows this too which is why he was able to plan accordingly.

There's literally no reason why Ging would know Gon wouldn't die. He doesn't have a predictive ability like Neon. He can't possibly know about a carefully guarded secret of the Z family, and even if he magically knew he most certainly won't know the "Killua gets wishes for free" clause. That is, even if he somehow knew about Alluka he'd be under the assumption that healing Gon would require repaying 3 massively difficult tasks. Besides, if he somehow knew that then that means his action was to avoid seeing Gon and his friends so that he wouldn't be part of the mass number of people that dies if they failed to repay for Alluka's power.

HXH is filled with guys who happen to believe in things exactly the same way as Togashi wanted things and then look like they're prescient. Ging is simply irresponsible as a father, who happened to be lucky enough that Killua bailed him out so that his son didn't just die while he was away, and then shamelessly act as if he knew that was going to happen all along. This is why discussing anything with HXH is difficult because at least half of the cast are shameless/unreliable narrators and cannot be trusted on anything they say regarding anything in the world of HXH.

hahaha when you say Ging is irresponsible, I totally agree.

At first I was disappointed at how he turned out, but, if you think about it, his character has been very consistent, up to the very world tree arc when he had a one on one with Gon. He accepted that he never really wanted to be a father in the first place, and Gon just happened- and even admitted that he won't even try to make up for whatever cutesy fathery stuff he failed at with Gon.

And I guess him sticking up for that, even with a straight face telling that to his son- is not admirable. But I like how Togashi stuck with that hate-able character and didn't succumb to the pressure- I mean, Ging had been popular all along, and his buildup so goddang mysterious and awesome. Then all of a sudden he's this guy who people hates and the kind who shuns responsibility, etc. etc. If it were other writers they probably downplayed his assholeness- but here I was able to say "wow, Ging is really an asshole!" And that's what's awesome about Togashi.

Ging is obviously meant to be a super jerk. It's actually very ironic that Gon apparently always looked up to his father who basically abandoned him the moment he was born, while Killua never trusted Silva who always supported his son 100%. In fact, Killua thought it was okay to share his unlimited wish power with Gon, a guy who blew him off multiple times, and still never told his father the secret (even though Silva probably figured it out by then, Killua really should at least call him up and confess that he's been withholding crucial information about Alluka's power all along).

The problem is that because Togashi has his back, the manga portrays him as if he's prescient. It's the same way how Gon does his crazy stunts and always gets bailed out because he literally can't die, and then Gon has the nerve to come around and tell Killua he's too passive. If there's no Togashi behind their backs, Gon probably would've died a long time ago (though Killua would be fine, since his sense of self-preservation is very strong, as long as he didn't get killed due to Gon). Instead of Morel running in at the election saying Gon is back, most likely it'd be like "Mr. Ging, your son is dead". Or maybe Ging goes back to GI one day and Razor told him some kid who claimed to be his son showed up and he blew his head off with a dodgeball because Ging told him to go all out. I mean Togashi didn't even take a relatively safe path like say have Ging consult someone with a power similar to Neon's and was told Gon will be okay. It's a huge slap in the face to Silva, who has always been portrayed as part of 'the enemy' by Killua, even though he's pretty much the role model for a father.

Well, there is a reason ging is so hated among hunters lol. Him being an ass is not much of the issue here, the issue is whether he has a god damn clue as to what he is doing. We do know it was mito who took gon away from ging (although considering how influential ging is it makes sense he would actually have let mito take gon). So based on what we have seen..... the manga does show us ging having a god damn clue as to what he is going. We don't know why or how he has the clue but the fact of the matter is that he does. He for whatever reason thought mito would do a good job raising gon and she did. He thought gon would get to the game and beat razor and he did. He thought killua would be able to save gon somehow and by trusting him the best case scenario came about.

As for silva, I don't think he has ever been shown to be an enemy. Illumi is more in that department and has been mentioned to be the source of killua's twistedness and issues. In turn silva has always been shown to be something of an ally to killua. He was the one who allowed killua to leave the zoldick house, he was the one who allowed killua to take alluka even though he had more than reasonable expectations that everyone they have ever come in close contact with would die.

Ging is irresponsible but the problem is that like Gon, since Togashi has his back you end up having a guy doing totally crazy things that actually tells other they're dumb for not being as crazy as they are. For example Ging claims he has a plan to deal with Pariston, and Pariston later said that he envisioned the final race down to just him and Ging. Now hold on a second. How does Ging possibly get the votes to be second place? There are probably more people who hate him than people who hate Pariston. Is he going to come out and say, "I am Ging and you should vote for me because I am the top 5 aura user of the world?" Is he going to somehow bribe/beg/threaten enough people to get enough votes? So Ging says he's not out to stop Pariston from winning the election, but then what is his plan exactly? If Leorio never showed up, how would Ging possibly get enough votes to be more than a footnote in the election? For that matter, the whole notion of him getting him by Leorio on purpose is dumb. It'd imply he somehow has thought about the entire chain of events that will happen if Leorio hit him, even though Leorio at this point is a complete nobody with no credentials of any kind.

No, Ging probably already bought HXH volume 32 and knew how the events will turn out (and so does Pariston) which is why he is prescient. The thing is it didn't have to be like this. Ging is probably supposed to be a wildcard character like Gon. That is he does totally crazy things that shakes things up and messes up everyone's plan but not necessarily in a good or a bad way. He's not a 'everything is going according to my plan' kind of guy, and yet the series tries to portray him as one.

For Silva, I consider that relationship between him and Killua to be adversarial (from Killua's point of view) simply because Killua never told him the truth of Alluka's power. That is, despite everything Silva did is reasonable and behind his son, Killua never shared his secret with his father but was quite willing to tell Gon, a guy he met for about an year who is constantly getting him killed and is always expecting Killua go clean up Gon's mess. That is, Killua totally trust a guy that a normal person would seriously question as a good friend with his infinite wish powers, but he can't possibly tell his father the same thing. So I do believe Killua considers Silva as an enemy, simply because he trusts Gon and he's one of the least trustworthy guys around and certainly nowhere near Silva.

The leorio situation was not something ging accounted for from what I gather. Its like everything else gin has had a hand on in the manga, he left it for someone else. He did not plan to meet leorio but when he did meet he thought, this guy could potentially make things difficult for pariston. And that is exactly what happened. Leorio was merely the means for gin to not really have to do anything at all. Now, how gin would have gotten votes if he had cared to do it is an entirely different matter. Who knows... Gin is quite a character in that regard, he seems to be able to get what he wants out of people when he wants something from them. So for all we know he could have swayed the non pariston voters to vote for him. Even pariston thought gin was going to defeat him. Leorio got sympathy from voters for punching gin in the jaw, it is not that far fetched an idea that gin could have done something to get votes from such a group of random oddballs.

He didn't tell silva anything because he thought he would see alluka as a thing to be used. I don't think that necessarily puts silva as an adversarial force to killua. And to be fair, its because of silva that killua and alluka are free right now. Silva does not condone the way illumi or miluki think as far as we have seen or at least he is not too happy about that.

Ging is about as elitist as it gets, so I don't see how he could possibly get the votes from Teradin's faction. If he needs to resort to unsavory tactics it's already heavily implied that he's nowhere as good as Pariston when it comes to these things. He's extremely unpopular amongst Hunters and I don't see what he can possibly do to turn things around.

The precautions Killua has toward Silva is not unreasonable, but what's unreasonable is his tendency to just tell about him having the dragonballs to guys he just met. He told Morel about the ability (without the infinite wishes part), and he told Gon the infinite wishes. If he's willing to talk to guys he barely just met about how he has the dragonballs with him, that implies he must have a rather low opinion of his father to not even attempt to resolve things by negotiation. Keep in mind Killua lied to his father to get access to Alluka. That is, from Silva's point of view he presumably believes Killua will go in and wish for Gon to be cured from there (since he doesn't know Alluka has to be able to touch the person to heal) so it'd be done from a position where he can at least try to salvage things, and Killua took advantage of that and resolved it by force instead. Now it'd be okay if you want to say Killua is just paranoid or even just selfish, but of course then we know he called Morel later and told him the dragonballs are coming.
