Ok guys i've just read the manga till the last chapter. Here are some things that bothering me and i want some explain about them:

1- So apparently Meruem the ant king died .. seriously?? i mean his death has drama and all but come on .. i wanted to see him die in a fight not like that! by dying that way that means he's the strongest in the series unless someone beat him.

2- Whats with the hax ability that Alluka possess .. it ruined the series! there are plenty of ways to save Gon instead of this ridiculous plot.

Why have I the impression to read a fan complaining because he was a Meruem fan? Yeah, I was sad and wanted to see him more too but Meruem had to die, he was too strong and awesome. With his major CD and all, who could hate a guy like that?(there are but they are not numerous). I can see Meruem coming back though, it's not only because I am a fanboy but that reincarnation stuff with Koala is weird. Even if he comes back, he wouldn't be as strong as before, it's not a problem since he is an awesome character. To reincarnate you must have regrets, but he died happy, he found what he wanted. However, he stated he would want to live as an human after he recovered memory so...

Now with Alluka, her ability was hax for me at first but not now, as Souhail said it's based on equivalence, Killua is the only exception. And no, there was no other realistic mean to save Gon after his fight, if he had just been healed by an exorcist after that I would have been really disappointed. It shows that Gon's resolve was exceptionally strong. Remember also that Alluka is an enigma even for his family. Maybe she is related to the Dark Continent, Illumi seems to have more information than the others.

I liked Mereum's death. It was...ironic and human. Well, his character seemed to be headed that way because of Komugi. I don't know, I can't explain it. I just liked it and it made me feel sorry for him...that he was born in the way that he was. Seriously, not every single enemy has to die in a fight. That's cliche for a shounen series...in this case, Mereum's death wasn't cliche and generic.

That aside, nice poster. I saw another poster for the movie hanging up at Shinjo station (I had to catch the train to Shinjo for work one day last week). It had our main four and Hisoka, but since I was in a hurry to get to where I had to go, I didn't really check out the info. I'm not sure if it was one of many posters for the upcoming film, or either something about the actual series.

yeah I still hold on to the Palace Invasion chapters as the most awesome series of drawings and storytelling ever in any manga I've ever read. Strategy, second per second, gorgeous art, perfect timing and paneling to tell an intense series of events that required a lot of smarts and focus from the characters, not just simply powering up and smashing the enemy.

This may be a dumb question, but why have broadcasts at 1AM during the week? I'm curious about the time change, but it's going to hurt ratings since won't most people be asleep at the that time? XD

Hell, most broadcasts in the US aren't at 1AM, and Primetime usually ends around 10, with some exceptions. :| I dunno, I look at the broadcast times for some of these anime and I'm like "Who the hell is going to watch this at this hour? Very hardcore fans?"

Late hours anime is not that weird in Japan. Sure, it's not going to get a bigger audience, but it still will get quite a good one (mostly people who is otakuish enough to wait for the show)
But if I recall correctly, old chapters may be broadcasted again meanwhile (like, last weeks ones) in more normal hours. I remember watching old HxH 2011 episodes in Japan at 7ish pm and not on sundays. ( I saw the ones with Kuroro and Paku when Gon and Killua had already fought Binolt)

Generally in Japan DVD/Blu Ray sales are what rule the roost with the exception of Shounen shows where manga sales and ratings make more of a difference. American shows on the other hand are more about ratings which is why a lot of the big budget stuff doesn't run at ungodly hours. Physical media is more like an afterthought unless it's like one of those super old re-releases or a movie that ran in theaters. That's not to say DVD's and blu rays don't matter here, they're just not as important.

The super late night times are as you said for hardcore fans, but since generally only the sales of blurays and DVD's matter, the TV space is more like an advertisement for the physical media. Most of the stuff on that late is targeted to the older audiences who would go out and buy physical stuff anyway so it makes more sense that it's not accessible to children (for the most part). Kids might have enough pocket change to buy a manga based on their favorite primetime shounen anime, but probably don't have enough (and don't care enough) to buy it on DVD. That's why you generally don't see stuff like HXH or Naruto on sales charts animewise despite them remaining on the air. In this regard, it is actually a little worrying that HXH is getting this treatment since it's blurays and DVD's don't really sell that well and the manga isn't currently running, but since there really isn't that much to animate I guess it's not worth worrying about too much.

The way you put it makes sense. The thought of Hunter ending in a year or so is pretty sad, but it's had a nice run. Though seeing how fillers have affected other long running shounen shows, I would much rather see it end at chapter 339. Hopefully by then the manga will start up, and we'll eventually get a second season when there's more material.

Nothing of the sort that streams TV shows online which can remedy the plausible lack of viewership HxH may be facing in the near future!?!?!

Also i really argue with other animators who think blu rays have to sell a lot.
Who the hell have a blu ray nowday? My mac doesn't even have any disk drive... Neither my ipad nor iphone... But these old timers have a lot to learn... Stupid directors I hate them.

DVDs are more common but you can find episodes with better quality on the net anyway so...

Ps3? i sold mine years ago... Last played game uncharted 3, now my laptop has a lot more power than the consoles... Although I'm old now so i hardly play... Not getting a ps4 because most games will be on pc too...


Laser disks are a relic and that's a fact.... And ps3's are too 7 years old relic...

They put the anime on itunes and do some publicity boom... Sales grows..

Just to add At college from ages to 19 to 21 most of the guys i asked they didn't have ps3.
But most have cellphone or a handheld console. I'm from japan btw...

All the episodes are available on NTV's VOD immediately following the broadcast.

There are also rental DVDs of the series which aren't too far behind the broadcast.

People who care about owning media have BD players. I have a PS3 and a BD drive in my computer.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, kenosecon. It's pretty easy to get HxH if you really want it.

only my ipad mac retina, iphone, android tablet... touch pc... none of those have any laser disk.

young people here don't have any of those... no ps3 no pc with blu ray.
not even in college the workstation class computers have blu ray.
I'm talking about the best universities here in japan... where I used to work till last year.

the Idea is to sell the anime to all the people not only to those "who really want it".

The mentioned PS3 users have blueray and i am fairly sure that many japanese have blue ray players in their home.

After all, Blue ray aint new, anyone who buys a dvd player gets a blue ray player nowadays.

They probably thought along the lines: Well, we cannot demand a high price for downloading the episodes and the hardcore fans are going to get the blue ray anyway, so pretty it up with some artwork and sell it overprized, and here we go.
If they'd just made it downloadable for a cheaper prize, ir probably, after their estimate wouldn't have given em as much cash as this solution.
