By the way, Alluka is confirmed a male, at least in the anime adaptation.

Unless Togashi says it himself that really is the same as me or you saying he's a guy. It also doesn't really change the fact that Killua refers to it as a girl on several occasions, and it talks like a girl too. I'm wary to call this a confirmation, just more of an educated guess based on previous material. Alluka is still '???' until proven otherwise.

Yeah, I would have accepted this if Killua had not called Alluka a girl but he did. He is not stupid and knows her more than anyone.

I've covered almost 150 chapters in a little over 24 hours and I'm pretty hooked on Killua's and Gon's bromance so far! Though somehow I feel like I'm setting myself up for a world of hurt in the future... I honestly didn't expect this series to be so violent and dark. That and Kurapika kept on raising the death flag to me throughout the auction/spider arc. Leorio reminds me of another character... idk if it's the design or something else... Vash the Stampede, maybe?
But geez, there's so much text! This is probably the first series I've read where I can't keep the attack explanations straight in my head... I'll just keep rolling with it, haha.
Also, everytime Hisoka get's "excited" over something, there's always a huge glare/white spot/spotlight over his crotch area. Given that he usually get's "excited" over Gon, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or foreshadowing. Either way, I'm always both creeped out and can't stop laughing.

Also, with the return of the manga, and apparently a plot twist in the recent episodes, it's becoming harder and harder to avoid spoilers >.>'
I guess I'll have to stay away from my usual haunts for a while...

well I'm glad you enjoyed it. And i don't think there is going to be any "hurting" as far as the Killua-Gon bromance is heading. They've built such a solid foundation that when I would have to think of any scenario, either they stay or they separate, wouldn't matter because you kind of know that their hearts are one. hehe.

And Hisoka's excitement, yeah, um, I think he's a unique character, something that other shounen writers would dare not tread. Props to Togashi for really having fleshed out such characters that cannot exist anywhere else if it were not for his artistic license.

True, but Killua doesn't refer to Alluka as 'My bro who likes dresses.' he specifically refers to Alluka as a 'girl' (quotation marks included.), and while it's not confirmation at all, Alluka uses 'Atashi' which is a feminine pronoun.

That being said, Killua does use quotation marks when talking about Alluka's gender, so maybe he's just convinced himself he has a sister. Who really knows. I'm still trying to figure out in vain what Pitou is.

Although, I would find it most appeasing, personally, if Pitou counts as "male" (I read somewhere that most Japanese people interpret domestic cats as being effeminate, when fictionally characterized.), and Alluka as "female".

It's just...you know...aren't there enough fodderized char's who are female?

^ I wouldn't consider Pitou fodder just because she (I prefer she for Pitou) was treated like fodder by Gon lol. Pitou was easily one of the strongest characters in the entire series, and I feel she is stronger than both Pouf and Youpi. She just chose a REALLY bad first hunter to kill.... Kite, lol.

I always got the sense that Youpi was the strongest Royal Guard physically, while Pitou and Pouf played supportive roles (Pitou has speed and En, Pouf has abilities that are not directly tied to combat).

It's kind of hard to judge Pitou's strength. His/Her fight with Kite took place off screen, so we don't know if he put up a fight against him/her, or if he was defeated quickly. And of course, in her second fight Gon overpowered Pitou so much, we can't really call their situation a fight.

I believe the Royal Guards were balanced in a rather obvious fashion(at least I think it was obvious).

Youpi = Strongest, least intelligent.

Pouf = Smartest, weakest.

Pitou = Stronger than Pouf, Weaker than Youpi. Smarter than Youpi, less intelligent than Pouf.

The King transcends all of them though. In brains and brawn.

It's really fun not knowing a character's power scale or something, like other shonen mangas.
Like we know Chrollo hisoka feitan pitou youpi and pouf are all strong but we can't really say for certain how strong they are..

It makes the story and fights unpredictable which is awesome, also every fight kinda uses tricks/experience and logic which makes the power scale sometimes not that important if one of the fighters is good at one of those things.

Man... I bet Hisoka would have had the boner of a life time seeing Adult Gon. This entire time Hisoka has said " Oooooooh Gon... I cant wait until you have blossomed/matured/ripened/aged to a point I can fight and kill you.

I'm sure Hisoka would have gotten absolutely wrecked by Adult Gon, but you never know XD.... Feitan would have released one hell of a pain packer after getting hit by Adult Gon if that ever would have happened. I know thats dumb and Gon only reached that state because of his trauma over Kite and Pitou, but just sayin.

I think Hisokas measurement wasnt for strength but for his desire to fight this person. Since we know he is always looking fo people with huge potential to fight agains in the future. And we do know that he would like to fight Illumi very much.

I caught up. I think I would've been pretty satisfied if the series ended before the current arc start, but honestly there are still tooo many unanswered questions and the Kurapika extras were just rubbing salt in the wound. Which is interesting, because it still seems that the current arc is going in a whole different direction and not circling back to continue with Chrollo/Ryodan/Kurapika.

Was there any explanation for the hiatuses? Because to me in seemed Togashi took them right before major plot developments or arcs. Which i think is understandable given how well designed the events/world and characters are.

Alluka and Nanika are absolutely adorbs, and so are Killua and Gon. Though I noticed that the Zoldycks said something like "We don't know where she came from" a couple of times in regards to Alluka, and i think her OP-ness might have something to do with the new world. Given how hung up Illumi is on her, I don't think her story is finished yet.

There were cases where he had taken hiatuses out of illness reasons. And we know that he uses hiatusses to redraw all the scribbled chapters for the volume releases.
And then we know that he was kind of lazy and just used his hiatusses to play dragon quest or something like that.

I always forget to mention this...but as I've mentioned a long while back, for work, I sometimes have to go to Shinjo. Since Togashi is from there, of course some HxH stuff will be acknowledged. They still keep the movie 1 poster up at Shinjo station....
