The whole new arc seems to be exspecially text heavy.
I like that tho, you get the most out of the chapter.
Some interviews i read by ppl who draw comics mentioned that it does take some balls to just make a drawed out fighting scene over several panels with no text, because people begin to complain that barely anything happened in one issue, which leads to the rather nonsensial 'talking smack while fighting' thing.
But i have always felt like the problem is vice versa in the manga business. To just let some people fight seems to be the easiest way to 'not break anything' in a fighting manga and also the thing people do want to see.Or at least many mangaka seem to think that.
Transitions usually have a bad reputation because they are a drag if there is no effort put into them.
They usually mean that people go from a to b and the chapter ends in a cliffhanger with some evil guy appearing.
I have no doubt that with other mangaka who do not have the sweet time togashi has and who have to think very carefully about how much content they can write without writing themselves into a corner or contridicting themselves would have had to draw this chapter out and let the cliffhanger point come at the moment kurapica met oito.
Some more talking drawn over some more pages, some more biske being annoiying, maybe filler page more of kurapica walking to oito's place and you're done for the week.
I think if more mangakas had months or even years of time of thinking ahead about how they want to write an arc or several arcs, we would get more manga with a very high quality, even in the shonen business.
On the other hand, before the second half of the chimera ant arc, togashi's hiatusses were usually 2-6 weeks, so he is still kinda amazing for pulling off the stuff that was going on in those arcs without many breaks (it were insanely many pauses for the manga business, but compared to the time between comic issues in the west it was nothing at all).
All in all, i am really glad the chapters are as filled with dialogie as they are tho.
I think it would be hard to take to wait years and years and then get 50%+ nonplotmoving panels.
