I haven't noticed that!

I always thought Nanika is a Dark Continent thing and for some reason, I did not tie it directly with Nen.
For me, it could be that it's either Nanika as wish-granting or the ability to host such a being.

I guess Maruem was always naturally Emission but his power as Ant king was to absorb new powers and so he is kind of a specialist / Emitter. Which would explain the absurd power boost in the abilities he absorbed, maybe. Since they were all emission based. (The explosive beam attack and Spiritual Message were technically ranged).

Machi is Transmuter with a strong affinity towards Enhancement. She isn't a Specialist.

I need to think a bit more about all of this but Meruem is only in the Emitter category here. Unlike Pitou and other Specialists.

It could easily have been a trait of a Chimera Ant king.

It's also "Meruem". Although seeing the English "Meeleem" in a pic from the exhibition gave me a good laugh.

When skimmed through tweets from people who went to exhibition I noticed that Togashi using Naoko Takeuchi paper for Meruem last moments chapter. Is he out of paper at that time. lol.

I think the only perplexing stuff here is Meruem being an emitter.

Maybe because of the monstrous amount of aura? I can only think in that regard, as like Admiral Teach it makes little sense to me. Although Aura Synthesis specifies mostly increasing aura size, so maybe it's a proper emitter ability and you can "steal abilities" from every Hatsu type in different approaches.

I wonder if Emission has divisions like Manipulation for controlling techniques.

Personally I am more perplexed by Youpi's case because of my views on Shapeshifiting + that blur between Nen Ability and racial traits.

I find it funny how as an Emitter Meruem lacked a ranged attack initially, because if he had one he would have defeated Netero in no time.

The Aura Synthesis I saw it as Enhancement personally(saw it as Specialization before because I was a simpleton and also just ate stuff on wikis etc). In the end he just grew stronger by eating people. It's worth noting that he only got Pouf and Youpi's abilities even though he must have eaten the flesh of many other Nen Users.

His final ability fits Emission very well. Huge range with his En, can teleport to the places within its range, scatter the Nen particles to gather data etc.

There should be subdivisions for every Nen Category. Tyson's Nen Beast was said to be a Diffusive Levy Type Emitter but maybe it's not specific to Emission like Counter Type.
