Yes, do spam meCould spam you a whole list.![]()
Is there any type of series you enjoy the most?
I'm starting to feel shounen should have like a post ending restraining order on their mangaka. I wonder if that's a like a midlife crisis thing for them? Trying to relive the glory days.Like most of the post shonen sequels, agreed, it's like the sequel just can't decide in which girl or aspect focus, the unnecessary drama and angst it's too forced as well, even for something like the Inuyasha series that was pretty dark.
I know right? They should just ask us! We know who should go with whom. It's just common sense.Mangakas always creating the wrong couples at the end of shonens!![]()

It went pretty well, thanksWe talked about this on slack but still I hope it goes well! Also it's so great you will be near Sky now, hopefully you guys will hang out more now?![]()
Still need to unpack some stuff bc I went to visit my family over Christmas haha, but will finish the rest once I return on the 27th. And meeting more often with Sky is ofc the plan
Hmm hard for me to compare the two bc it's been way too long since I watched the old Higu anime, and we seem to agree about the new anime and his representation there. He's a good guy, but he doesn't particularly stand out for me or anything. For now I just hope the anime will improve a bit more haha. It's a shame, I always liked Keiichi as a main lead (in his arcs) a lot, even a bit more than Battler himself if you ask me, even if I like him too. I still managed to enjoy him in this anime despite everything, but you're right about his lack of... character.
Absolutely agreed. I imagine the author just wanted to try something different this time, instead of making it a more simple remake, but I think he's wrong saying that this is a good entry point for newbies too. The mystery is good indeed, but the gore and horror aspects are a huge part of what made Higurashi so special and famous, so taking most of that away makes it stand out way less if you ask me....Currently I'm still following the series anyways, I'm not a big fan of it, but it's worth watching and not these series that you feel it's a waste of time.
I feel that they didn't do much justice to the gore, but not even really to the horror parts in general, they are doing a fine job with the building of the whole mystery though, especially when it comes to Rika. It feels that they really want to focus on these parts, more than the spooky side, which is fine by me because I love the complicated universes of Higurashi and Umineko, but this arc in particular was so good at doing horror (especially Rena and her creepy eyes) that it's quite a shame.
Are you still following it?
I want to know what they've planned with this story, and where it's going. For now it seems like each arc is changing more and more compared to the original, so that makes it more interesting already. And ofc I won't give up hope for some Umineko cameo or connection hahaI mean, generic doesn't equal bad. Most series don't really reinvent the wheel tbh. What matters to me is that a series is entertaining and mb put it's own little spin on the usual tropes and stuff. There's a good reason why some things are used again and again, namely that they just work that well with a huge audience.Jujutsu it's a series I was thinking to read. Like Kimetsu, it's something that suprirses me how popular it became, and the design of the series and characters look pretty cool actually. There are of course a lot of reviews that call it generic, but KnY was as well but I loved the characters, so I think I will give it a try. ^^
Didn't know you've played DanganronpaLoved Danganronpa a lot, if it's the same author, I will check it out as well!![]()
All three games? Or did you only watch the anime?
Thanks!New set now, but still loving both, the amount of great Hinata fanarts around it's great~
Think I will try and make some Noya or Kuroo, or even Yachi set in the future.
Honestly these post-time skip fanarts give me life, I loved Kageyama and Hinata together, also Yachi...![]()
I think I never asked how you felt about the ending, there were people who didn't like it. I personally really liked it, though I do agree that it was quite rushed and they didn't show too much about everything overall post time skip, like you said.
Wanted to see more of other characters, I know Hinata and Kageyama's relationship was the focus, but all Karasuno always had it's time to shine and just showing a quick panel of them and telling what they were doing for living... dunno, really wanted to see a bit more.
I'm sure Furudate will do some extra chapters probaby, or tha anime will add scenes to the adaptation, they will take their time to the last season but as long as they make it well it's worth waiting ^^ (though I do want to see it soon like you hahaha).
But I was satisfied with what Furudate did with the end, is what I wanted to say, even though the stuff after the timeskip could've went on longer for sure. Seeing the Olympics would've been great tbh, and without Corona it would've timed amazingly with the actual real life Olympics lol.Actually tried Tonikaku, the first episode back then. But the animation seemed really barebones... Couldn't really get into itAbout the new anime, I miss a lot the animation of the first seasons, especially the ones of the matches. This one is generic, it's definetly not terrible compared to stuff like Higurashi, or even Tonikaku. Still loving the soundtrack and the voices, and this is where the manga became even more epic with this arc, so overall I have to say I'm still loving to watch the episodes.
Not a fan of the adaptation either, but at least they're respecting the events of the manga. Compared to Higurashi, Hanako-kun, Tonikaku or the new Inuyasha series, HQ! is the adaptation so far I'm enjoying the most.

hahaTbh watching Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night UBW and Kimetsu no Yaiba around the same times wasn't good for me, Ufotable really did make me have high expectatives for everything else.![]()
Yeah it's true that ufotable usually has some really great animation, not many can live up to that. On that note, I recommend Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan by ufotable, it's only a short series but very fun
(my case with Bel and Sam
)
I think I need to spam you my waifu list right? Trying to finish it here, erasing picks all the time.Yes, do spam me
Recently I've very much enjoyed reading Berserk, and Spy X Family if that helps
Definetly feels like that, maybe they feel they can't make a new good series like the one they have made? One more time I praise Takahashi and Arakawa for ending their popular series like FMA or Inuyasha and move on, they just write new stuff that are good quality (ignoring the sequel of Inuyasha of course).I'm starting to feel shounen should have like a post ending restraining order on their mangaka. I wonder if that's a like a midlife crisis thing for them? Trying to relive the glory days.
Authors should start using popularity polls again for source.I know right? They should just ask us! We know who should go with whom. It's just common sense.
Letter from Loui:
Name a more iconic pairing than long posts and revo haha
Hmm if I watched the new anime instead of the old one, and never checked the mangas, I think I wouldn't paticulary really like Keiichi.Hmm hard for me to compare the two bc it's been way too long since I watched the old Higu anime, and we seem to agree about the new anime and his representation there. He's a good guy, but he doesn't particularly stand out for me or anything. For now I just hope the anime will improve a bit more haha.
Exactly, right? It was also always pretty brutal when it came to battles and harsh moments, it was a great gore when it came not being shy about anything, how they made the contrast between the cheerful moments and the horror ones.Absolutely agreed. I imagine the author just wanted to try something different this time, instead of making it a more simple remake, but I think he's wrong saying that this is a good entry point for newbies too. The mystery is good indeed, but the gore and horror aspects are a huge part of what made Higurashi so special and famous, so taking most of that away makes it stand out way less if you ask me....
But ofc I'm still following it, and definitely will until the endI want to know what they've planned with this story, and where it's going. For now it seems like each arc is changing more and more compared to the original, so that makes it more interesting already. And ofc I won't give up hope for some Umineko cameo or connection haha
Totally agreed, that happens to me with romances or slices of life too. The thing is to avoid being too cliché, outside of that anime/manga usually uses a similar format depending on what they are. And tbh, almost every anime series uses the whole "demons" topic, it's fun to see how they are used in the plots.I mean, generic doesn't equal bad. Most series don't really reinvent the wheel tbh. What matters to me is that a series is entertaining and mb put it's own little spin on the usual tropes and stuff. There's a good reason why some things are used again and again, namely that they just work that well with a huge audience.
About Jujutsu, so you plan to read the manga instead of watching the anime? I'll probably pick up the manga once the anime is done.
Watched the animes, but played the first one.Didn't know you've played DanganronpaAll three games? Or did you only watch the anime?
And yeah, it's from the same author. It's a really fun show, even it doesn't quite reach Danganronpa.
Spoiler
Yes, saw in MAL that you did.Actually tried Tonikaku, the first episode back then. But the animation seemed really barebones... Couldn't really get into it![]()
Yes! And despite the quality dropping quite a bit in this season, I'm sure the anime staff will do a great job with the final match from the manga, just like season 1 and 2.And yeah, I'm with you on the HQ adaptation. Not perfect at this point, but still a very good one. Many series would consider themselves lucky to get that treatment. Maybe they'll save the truly good animation and stuff for the next match haha, just like how the match vs Shiratorizawa was especially amazing. One can dream![]()
Ah I know that one, so many adorable Saber moments there.hahaYeah it's true that ufotable usually has some really great animation, not many can live up to that. On that note, I recommend Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan by ufotable, it's only a short series but very fun

Depends on if they're trash or notou will call all of them trash, aren't you?![]()
Hahaha but thank you.Still trying to decide who goes to the list and who to HMs.
Or Gotouge. I know that's a bit of odd pick considering how I feel like I criticize that epilogue a lot. But there is something to be said for a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. We need more of that in our lives.Definetly feels like that, maybe they feel they can't make a new good series like the one they have made? One more time I praise Takahashi and Arakawa for ending their popular series like FMA or Inuyasha and move on, they just write new stuff that are good quality (ignoring the sequel of Inuyasha of course).
Whatever method of witchcraft they're using to decide it now isn't doing a great job. That's for sure.Authors should start using popularity polls again for source.

I didn't mean it like that
Yeah, good point there. Manga and novels often give much more insight into the MC, anime tends to ignore a lot of that.Hmm if I watched the new anime instead of the old one, and never checked the mangas, I think I wouldn't paticulary really like Keiichi.
I think he was one of the first main characters I ever saw (Higu was one of my first animes... imagine the impression), so I always liked him very much.

That was the best part about it for sure! And that's pretty much missing from the anime so far, sadly. The only time it happened it was a bit too ridiculous for my taste (you know, the Rena/Keiichi showdown).Exactly, right? It was also always pretty brutal when it came to battles and harsh moments, it was a great gore when it came not being shy about anything, how they made the contrast between the cheerful moments and the horror ones.
Haha ofc I saw it :3 I only hope it isn't just a red herring...Hahaha same, I mean, we gotta see how they manage to conclude the process they're making in this one, I think that's how we will be able to say if they did a good job or not, Higu/Umi is alwways full of plot twists after all. And so far there was a Umineko cameo! In the opening, I think you saw too?
Aurora's smiling shadow.
So you never played 2? Then I guess you got yourself spoiled pretty hard with the Danganronpa 3 animeWatched the animes, but played the first one.
So glad to see you like it too! Do you have favorites?
Hmm will still give it a try, looks pretty interesting.
I very much recommend Danganronpa V3 though (the game), it's great and a good conclusion to the whole series.Yes, exactly! I think the main problem with WSJ manga is that once you have a set date for when your series is supposed to end, you just have to make it work somehow. Like, when your series is supposed to end on January 1st for example, you just have to make it work, timing and all that. You can't just go and say "Oops, I need another chapter or two.", at least that's my impression from what I've read and heard.I teared up with the ending, especially that last page, it was a bit rushed but it covered everything HQ needed.
The Kageyama vs Hinata was great, I loved the conclusion too with Bokuto there. Also the fact that most characters didn't keep with sports but still supported and loved it, was so realistic, that's a part of Haikyuu I adore as well.
Loved the Brazil arc a LOT too, and it seems to be an unpopular opinion in the fandom.
I can only highlight what you said about the realistic part, that's what I loved about Haikyuu too.lol oh you stalker~ :3Yes, saw in MAL that you did.
It's a series people either love or dislike, I dropped it many times in the past, so I don't blame you.
Good choice! It's a short series anway, so it's perfect for some quick and quality respite.Ah I know that one, so many adorable Saber moments there.
Will give it a try soon, a good break from all the serious and dark plots I'm checking from Fate.
I still get goosebumps thinking back about that last part of the Nekoma match, likeSince you love Nekoma, I think I know which battle you mean, tbh was one of my favorites.![]()

I remember saying in the last chapter thread, that despite the flaws of the epilogue, Gotouge remained faithful to her characters and plot points to the end, even the ones where she screwed up but she accepeted these writing mistakes and kept going instead of messing up more with even more messy plot twists.Or Gotouge. I know that's a bit of odd pick considering how I feel like I criticize that epilogue a lot. But there is something to be said for a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. We need more of that in our lives.
I can see us like thisInstead of the Kishimoto model of a beginning, a middle, a part where you stretch it out, a part where you lose all inspiration, a part where you forget what the series was even about originally, a part when you cynically "end" it with a to be continued so you can keep profiting from it, a part where you pay another author to do it so you can wash your hands of it, a part where that author burns out and you come back to pick up the pieces only to discover you can't write anymore.... what was I talking about?![]()
:
Sometimes I feel they want to ruin endings with intentions, like, it does give them a benefit we will never know about.Whatever method of witchcraft they're using to decide it now isn't doing a great job. That's for sure.
Yes you guys are awesomecute badge![]()

Yes, Wisteria is a general theme and important plot on Kimetsu in general ^^revo-nyan I think these are the flowers that are always in Kanao fanarts?
I didn't mean it like thatIt's tiring sometimes, but also fun!

Kinda reminds me of my talk of Danmachi with Jamms, and how different Bell is sometimes from the anime.Yeah, good point there. Manga and novels often give much more insight into the MC, anime tends to ignore a lot of that.
That, and we always tend to hold our first few favourites in especially high regard haha.
But I have to say Higu as one of your first anime must've been quite the experience![]()

Yeah, they are either too serious or too rushed kinda ridiculous in some parts, it's a bit inconsistent @.@That was the best part about it for sure! And that's pretty much missing from the anime so far, sadly. The only time it happened it was a bit too ridiculous for my taste (you know, the Rena/Keiichi showdown).
Never, but saw videos about the playing. So you never played 2? Then I guess you got yourself spoiled pretty hard with the Danganronpa 3 animeI very much recommend Danganronpa V3 though (the game), it's great and a good conclusion to the whole series.
Favourites would be Nagito, Chiaki, Junko, Kirigiri, Kuzuryu, Kaito, Maki, and Shuichi. Last three are from V3, so you better don't look them up if you want to avoid spoilers haha.
(pretty sad yes).
Mangakas's mistakes can be made from the many limitations their magazines give them, agreed, but I still think HQ! did an awesome job with what it had left. ^^Yes, exactly! I think the main problem with WSJ manga is that once you have a set date for when your series is supposed to end, you just have to make it work somehow. Like, when your series is supposed to end on January 1st for example, you just have to make it work, timing and all that. You can't just go and say "Oops, I need another chapter or two.", at least that's my impression from what I've read and heard.
A good example actually would be the last chapter of Kimetsu, right? The author added a lot of content in the volume release she wasn't allowed to add during the last chap in the magazine.
But enough of that lol. Sure it was a bit rushed, but I was still satisfied and teared up a little tooI can only highlight what you said about the realistic part, that's what I loved about Haikyuu too.
Brazil arc was good to me, but didn't LOVE it. Can see why some people weren't big fans, but I think it was good and necessary.
Ooh I remember~really

I still get goosebumps thinking back about that last part of the Nekoma match, like
They better do that part justiceHinata making Kenma enjoy this match to the fullest, with him going all out for the first time![]()

Now that you mention it. The authors of Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, KnY.I remember saying in the last chapter thread, that despite the flaws of the epilogue, Gotouge remained faithful to her characters and plot points to the end, even the ones where she screwed up but she accepeted these writing mistakes and kept going instead of messing up more with even more messy plot twists.
This also came from someone who had been following Nakaba Suzuki's writing for years, and checking mangas like Naruto or other shonens. In the end, KnY had a writer who kept her same style and ended the series when it had to end. Kinda funny how all the shonen mangakas we are praising are womens.
I mean, that's going to be me for sure but I hope you can move past it. Clearly, I never will.I can see us like this:

Haha, they get so annoyed at their fans they're just like "Take this you bastards!"Sometimes I feel they want to ruin endings with intentions, like, it does give them a benefit we will never know about.

I remember reading a popular review for the FMA manga in MAL, and it ended with "isn't it ironic how two of the best shonens were written by womens?" (aka Inuyasha and FMA).Now that you mention it. The authors of Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, KnY.
Fun fact: ichtys author and artist of Superior also had that in common. To go with my theme for the week.
Started to get into Naruto on the last year before it ended, never checked or really cared about the series honestly but the manga was cool and I started to like some characters very much, including the NaruSaku pairing. I was extremely late to the party, but to me it was pretty obvious that if Naruto and Sakura were to end up with someone it was going to be with each other.I mean, that's going to be me for sure but I hope you can move past it. Clearly, I never will.
I feel that they watch the readers's reactions from the office and have a good laugh.Haha, they get so annoyed at their fans they're just like "Take this you bastards!"![]()

I still remember when someone PMed me one morning when the raws of the final chapter were out. For a long hours I thought these NaruHina and SasuSaku pages were fanmade by some fan artist, I was in a denial state for a day. Thank god I only cared about Naruto for a year.

Oh it's ending is "spectacular". You should get @Lady pompom to describe it for you sometime. It's so amazing. More so than you could ever imagine.I feel that they watch the readers's reactions from the office and have a good laugh.
Never saw Noblesse but gonna see the anime since many said it adapted the best part of the series.

Not only that but they decided to put in some things that do not make sense until very later in the plot while not explaining other stuff that could have been helpful @Jammin yes,--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
