In a Nutshell: School. Work. Gym

So I'm Cypress, but you can call me Riiko if you want. I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California, and I am seventeen years-old going into my senior year in high school. Although, because I go to an early college high school, I don't take high classes anymore, but classes at the community college my school is located in. I am very serious about school! I obviously like anime and manga and all that good stuff, so I'm excited to join MH. I'm just a hoping some groups are looking for a translator x__x;. I have been learning Japanese for five years now, and I am currently tutoring and TAing a third and fourth-year Japanese class. If you all ever need some help in Japanese, feel free to PM me!

Anyway, I love animals, and I work as a kennel technician (a fancy name for an assistant) at a veterinary clinic. I'll confess that I'm a bit of a health freak too. I love cooking, working out, yoga, and hiking. I'm also a vegetarian and trying-to-be-but-failing vegan. However, please don't think that I'm dogmatic and want to shove my morals down your throat, because I really don't care what you eat XD! As long as you understand what you put into yourself, who am I to dictate :3?

As for music, I love pretty much anything: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, English, I listen to all of that. I want to learn Korean one day, and I am about to enroll in a Chinese class this semester ! So excited!

Haha! I have sooooo many friends that hate Chinese too. They're mostly from Hong Kong :3. (I go to a school with 70% Chinese students) Me? SLIM?! Well... not too much unfortunately ;___;. Us vegetarians still can, and will, eat ice cream. For me especially, I love frozen yogurt and coconut desserts.

My favorite artist is by far Nishikawa Takanori (T.M.Revolution), and he has been for the longest time. I also really like FLOW (got to see them in concert twice now), LM.C (also saw them live), Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Shocking Lemon, Porno Graffitti, Nightmare, GLACIER, and a couple other bands.

My favorite anime... oh that's hard. I guess I would have to choose Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, BECK, Durarara!, Eureka Seven, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, Cowboy Bebop, and Gad Guard. As for manga, definitely everything by Minekura Kazuya, Get Backers, Death Note (I know that one is really popular nowadays), and many many more XD!

My number one tip would be to find your motivation. I really don't think anime and manga is strong enough. As long as you can find how you want to use Japanese in your future career, learning becomes practical, rather than a chore.

Haha! Well, I don't like sports too much, but I really enjoy tennis and badminton. As silly as the latter sounds, that sport can get really intense! I wish I was better at sports D:.

Oh thanks! I'll have to look through there once I can get some of my translations approved.

I actually plan on becoming a veterinarian once I get to graduate school. I have loved animals since I was a kid and I am an utter nerd when it comes to science, so combining those brings me to the veterinary field. I would like specialize hopefully in exotic animals (reptiles and birds), since they fascinate me the most.

I actually have not read that many manhwas! I read one called Chocolate, but that was so long ago! I should really look into some!

Wow, you seem to be fond of learning languages. Do you? My mom made me go to a Chinese course before, but it failed. XD For Japanese and Korean, I only know some because of watching anime and drama. ^^' From those three languages, which one do you like the most? And what other languages do you want to learn? ^^
