How would Carrot fit here? Momo I admit wouldn't fit entirely as he can't fight too well right now, and Kinemon definitely wouldn't fit.
Which is exactly where Carrot or even Kinemon is lacking. All SHs have their quirk which adds to their personality. Jinbe is a bit of an exception, but I think he brings maturity to the crew which, now that stakes are higher, will fit in with the crew's growth.

I don't even think that Jinbe will be very prominent, but is more likely to be on the background like Robin.

In theory there isn't that much story left at least. The battle against kaido is going to last a decent while as far as i can tell but it does look like we are past a point where a new character can get its own story arc in order to join the strawhats. if someone joins my final wager would be a scabbard who aims to see oden's vision to fruition. Kinemon would still make the most sense to me given the time he has been with luffy along with the fact that he has pretty good chemistry with the crew in general (I would argue even much better than jinbe).
This as well. It's the final part of the journey. No more Thriller Bark or Water 7 arcs (I think) but the plot coming towards an end, which would make it strange to introduce a new character.

Throughout the series there have been mentions (both in and outside of the Manga) that there would be 10 crew mates, but to me it would make sense to now leave it as it is.

If not, I just hope Oda does the new nakama justice by giving her/him a reason to join and ensuring the chemistry is there and he/s complements the crew. Carrot, Momo and Kinemon don't fit, Vivi and Bon-chan do.

The reason why Jinbe fits perfectly is because he has a strong bonding moment with Luffy, which is when he saves Luffy from killing himself after Marineford. (Still one of my favorite chapters by the way).

This is also what all the other characters lack. Carrot had good chances during WCI but it didn't happen, and she has been absent from most of Wano Arc so far. The scabbards also lack these moments, the best candidate here would be Kin'emon, but he is kind of Momonosuke's adoptive dad now.

I think as it currently looks like, the only possible candidate is Vivi, who is technically already a member. That would depend on how the Levely plotline plays out, but it could play out with WG assassins forcing her to seek protection.
My point was more about.... chemistry if you will. sure, jinbe has bonded a crapton with luffy (which is meh for me) but what about the other crewmembers? To me it feels like jinbe's character has to be changed rather substantially to actually fit in with the crew. Which... could happen but wouldn't do jinbe's character any favors. Other characters that have been considered like kinemon or carrot don't need any character changes to have chemistry with the rest of the crew for instance.

Robin didn't even bond with Luffy, but now she's an invaluable member who complements the crew in some ways. Jinbei can fit in with the crew, especially with Robin and Nami as the mature ones. Plus, there's still a lot about Jinbei that may not have been shown yet, as the circumstances were often under serious conditions, and Jinbei seems normal enough to act serious.

Robin has excellent chemistry with the whole crew.

but did she when she first joined? Jinbei doesn't even have to change to have great chemistry with the crew, he seems laidback enough, willing to fight, and mature enough to hang with all of them.

Jinbe doesn't really need to change. He's a chill dude, who's overly formal despite all the crazy stuff that happens around him.

Dude pulled out a thing of saki and offered it to be Big Mom as his formal resignation from her crew in the middle of them fighting. That's some prime real estate for chemistry with the Strawhats.

His maturity is the main issue. The strawhats are not clowns but on the other hand they all have some weird ass personality quirks. Jinbe might be a fishman but compared to pretty much all the other strawhats he is sane.

But how is that a bad thing? Robin is sane other than being dark, Nami is sane other than her greediness, and Chopper is sane but immature/kidlike. Usopp is also immature but still sane enough to avoid dangerous things. Jinbei will probably have his own quirk.

Beyond Jinbe, any discussion regarding future nakama can be had HERE. Cheers.

yeah, since the Sabody, it's been far too much screen time for other people, and too little time for the Strawhats. If I could meet Oda that's what I'd tell him, I miss the SH's being the focus and their growth.

Jinbe is a good addition, i think the crew is or should be complete with him. He is strong, serves a purpose as helmsman, has lots of experience. I don't want him taking away focus from someone like Usop or Franky or Nami, but if his screentime comes at the expense of someone like Law or Kid, I'm happy (more SH's, less Super Novas!)

I think this is probably the most sensible comment to make - quality instead of quantity.

We have still only very superficially seen the results of most of the SH crew's progress after two years of training.

So if it stops with Jinbe and goes back to focus on the crew, that'd be perfect
