Hi~

I need some help with a line from Nurarihyon no Mago ch144 and would really appreciate any help anyone can give me. I've been done with the whole chapter for 2 days but it's just this line that's been bugging me so I can't post it until I get it as right as it can be

Here's the line: 本気になれんよ　もっと　来るもん　見ねぇとさ

Right now I have it translated as: I can't paint seriously. More might come to me if you don't look

I really can't seem to wrap my finger around it even after mulling over it for 2 days, so any help would be much, much appreciated

It means:
I don't feel like putting my full efforts unless/until I see more of what's on the way.

* 本気になれんよ part of your translation is fine.

You just got confused over the "見ねぇとさ" part.
* 見ねぇとさ＝見ないと unless I see, until I see

Since I haven't followed the story for a while, I don't know what he is expecting (to come), so I would avoid adding "to me" after "come."

来る
has a colloquial definition which means, exciting or stimulative.
That is why there are dots on the right side of 来る and the furigana (ruby) is in katakana クる rather than a more expected くる。

Thus it may be translated as;
I don't feel like doing it wholeheartedly. I need to see something more exciting.

e.g.
この酒は胃に来るね
Means, this liquor is hard on the stomach.

It's a bit difficult to explain. I hope you understand.

It sure does have the colloquial meaning you mentioned. ぐっとくる　and the past tense ｷﾀｰ are another examples of KURU.

Honestly, I did not pay any attention to the Katakana-ruby part for Ku when I glanced at it, so go with owari01 unless other interpretation fits better. Usually I tend to use that colloquial form with some other word right before it like 「もっと、こう来る」or 「胃に来る」like in his example and not the word by itself so I did not read it that way first, but Katakana makes me think that what owari01 described fits very well here.

When you see a yomigana, Kanji still carries the real meaning of the speech. It is your choice to deliver only the yomigana part of the meaning, or also add the meaning of the kanji.
