You just need enough endurance and to hit him often enough. Oda said in an SBS that Marco can't heal indefinitely and that there are limits to his powers.
Oda said there are limitations but he didn't say which. We don't know if his powers go at the cost of stamina like Law's.
I think the limitation is that he can't regenerate if he's wiped out with one blow.

I think that would be it. Have a high enough damage output that he'd be killed in one attack. :)

What I wonder is , Had Marco the one who got in front to save luffy from Akainu's punch... would he have survived that punch which Ace didn't .....

Almost certainly. The primary justification for the severe damage was some natural superiority of Akainu's DF over Ace's. Even if Akainu had managed to inflict anywhere near the same amount of damage, Marco's DF's ability is regeneration, he would've healed and kept going.

Not to mention we did see Marco intercepting a magma-punch from Akainu when he protected Luffy, and it didn't do anything to him.

I'm pretty sure Marco could of taken Akainu in a 1 on 1 . Needless to say if Marco would of blacked out after Ace died instead of being a leader and moving the Whitebeards out of Akainu way, he would of kicked Akainu ass . I just don't understand how could Akainu withstand ALL of Whitebeards attack ? Not only that Whitebeard was burned by Akainu , how could Marco block Akainu with Haki but WB couldn't ?

Yeah, actually that’s one OP DF … Ace said his Vital organs were burnt…. Now I wonder in case of Marco if the punch would had gone through the heart, could he had regenerated in that case as well ….

I will not be sure about that … it was a one on one fight with WB and what Marco blocked was one punch , which was also not thrown on him…and that was also not with ease like shanks did… …. In one on one fight it’s all about putting the punch just where the guard is down .. and obviously we have already seen now that Akainu took the Gura gura powers head on and still got back on feet in a short period of time… he is a beast for sure … and seeing his endurance , it’s not just his DF that makes him a beast…

I think people seem to underestimate Akainu and the Admirals in general. Akainu took Marco's haki kick and Vista's sword powered with haki to the neck!!! he shrugged it off as a little nuisance IIRC he said something of that kind.
Blackbeard with 2 DF's and his whole crew ran away when they saw Akainu was on that Marineship they wanted for themselves.
Personally I believe the Admirals and Yonkou(Marco included since he was named in the same breath as them by the Gorosei) are on the same tier which means a fight could end both ways with no one overwhelming the other.

If such damage had finished him off instantaneously, then it'd be over, however, I imagine that as long as Marco is capable of activating his DF abilities he's going to be fine.

He survived getting half of his brain blown apart by Kizaru, so I doubt destroying his heart would make any difference.

This DF is cheated. It's a Zoan (best strength/resistance) with Logia properties except the fact taht if he would get hurt with haki power or because of Kairouskei, he can still heal after, unlike Aokiji, Monet etc. Teach should have taken this DF. And Phénix + Brook's Yomi Yomi no Mi = invulnerability + immortality.

I recall Doffy easily control Diamond Jozu (third division captain) with his parasite string. It basically states that Jozu got defeated by Doffy almost instantly.

Marco honestly isn't much better than Jozu in my opinion. To be able to take on the admirals, you basically need to be at least Sabo or Rayleigh's level. Even Rayleigh wouldn't be able to take on the admirals in the long run due to lack of stamina/endurance (same goes to WB).

Marco isn't exactly top dog, I'd he is at most at the level of Jesus Burgus, if not worse. Ace back then didn't even know how to use Haki, he was even worse. He's no where near Sabo's level (by far the strongest one of the trio at the moment), considering Ace had difficulties stopping Smoker 2 years ago..

So you think Sabo could play with Marco like he played with Burgess? Do you really think Oda would show everything Top Tier characters are capable off at the middle of the manga? He is basically in the same position as Rayleigh and has an OP af DF
We weren't properly introduced to Haki back then so Oda couldn't use it the way he uses Haki right now.
I can't imagine Oda had even thought of Haki back then when Ace thought Smoker but that's speculation of course.

DD didn't take control of Jozu, he halted his movements by getting him tangled in strings like he did sanji at green bitt. Incase you forgot, BB told his entire crew (before the addition of level 6 inmates) to stand down from Ace stating they were no match for him. Marco is above ace and can also use haki. In this 2 years, he definitely got stronger and he is also managing the WB pirates. The gorosei also acknowledged him as one of the potentials to stop BB. Marco at burgess level? That's laughable. He is easily above. Easily. Don't also forget his OP DF that let's him regenerate. He had no problems taking on kizaru alone and only lost when he got concerned about WB and turned his attention away only to get sea-stone handcuffs on him. Even then he took a number of light shots from kizaru and was still mostly fine.

Also Ace had no problem stopping smoker. He wasn't looking to fight and was basically buying time for luffy to escape. You really think smoker could hold a candle to ace?

Marco is probably on Sabo's tier.Which is a little bellow fujitora and a little higher than doffy.

Marco is definitely someone capable of matching an admiral. He did push back kizaru. The WB pirates were at a disadvantage during the war, they were on the attack side and had to deal with the fire of very well prepared marines. It was a less than ideal situation. Marco is not a logia, he only somewhat visually resembles one but his abilities are completely different. When something goes through him he takes real damage which gets instantly healed. A logia would simply not get hurt in the same scenario. Marco only has a logia beat when it comes to haki. With haki you get to hit a logia and cause damage but marco in the same situation would simply heal the damage. Still, oda did say there is a limit to how much he can heal and it tires him. Anyways, in a move even scenario marco should be more than able to match the admirals. Even jozu was taken out by aokoji after he got distracted... The top 3 of WB's crew were IMO monsters well above good old ace who was a rookie in comparison. Even vista was able to hold his own against mihawk...

Very well said. People seem to underestimate WB's top men because they didn't wipe the floor with the Admirals without taking into mind those circumstances. Something I'd like to add is that since Oda Haki'd up those fights would have been written differently if they happened now because now we know about haki. Also just from a story telling standpoint, why should Oda show some of the most powerful characters in universe going all out halfway through the story?

While generally I agree, it's hard to tell how strong someone is just because the character could fight the Shichibukai or Admirals for a while. Even Sanji or Zoro have done that after the timeskip.

And I think Marco is being underestimated because he lost to Blackbeard. Crocodile also lost to Luffy before, but he has proven to be one of the strongest pirates in Marineford.

Well, as far as we have seen luffy was kicked down by doflamingo without all that much trouble, zoro was pushed back by ishou and sanji barely held for a bit against doflamingo. Law has not done all that well against doflamingo either. Impressive, yeah, but the difference is quite clear. Given this I would think that marco from 2 years ago easily showed he is superior to the top 3 strawhats today. I'd go as far as saying that the gang would do as well against marco as they have done against the people I have mentioned which does show a significant advantage over them.

Marco is strong enough to hold his own against the current Admirals, Shichibukai, and Yonko. During the war he had no problem fighting Kizaru or Akainu on even footing for prolonged periods of time without taking any significant damage. Marco's devil fruit abilities enable him to heal almost any fatal injury. Also, he has significant defensive capabilities. Physically harming Marco is a tough endeavor if the combatant doesn't possess powerful Haki or some type of ability or weapon that allows them to bypass Marco's near invulnerability like Seastone. There's no one in the OP world who would be able to curb stomp Marco in a 1 on 1 fight.
