Certainly one of the oldest veteran the world has ever seen. When hidden villages were barely born, he fought Shodaime Hokage as one of the Hidden Waterfall village's finest. Rejected by his own village after his defeat, he stealed its most priced Forbidden Technique. Wandering for a long time as a bounty hunter for many years, he has been hired by Akatsuki as its Treasurer. Behind his impassible face lies a hidden anger which led him to kill his every single fellow partner until Hidan.

Virtually immortal, he can steal the living hearts of his ennemies to extent or bring back his life and use them as elemental canons depending on their affinity. His body is no longer human and can be divided up to the number of hearts. His overwhelming battle experience taught him to not underestimate any opponents.

Jiraiya is a renown man of many names and holds a reputation as a shinobi of enormous power. He often summons toads in battle, one of his most famous summons is the giant frog Gamabunta, but his perhaps greatest and most powerful summons are the Elder Frogs, Shima and Fukasaku who can help Jiraiya get into his most powerful form, Sage Mode, to greatly enhance his abilities and body. Both in and outside of Sage Mode Jiraiya has a vast arsenal of techniques like the hair needle, lion mane, swamp of the underworld and fire element techniques. Jiraiya is also able to produce oil, powerful genjutsu while in Sage Mode, perform advanced sealing techniques, create powerful barriers and last but not least, he's able to perform the Rasengan.
