That's true, but like Leo said, you can take your time, you can watch in the tempo you'd like.
When I start a long manga/anime (and I often do), I just watch/read arc by arc. In that case, you'd just have to watch the first 9 episodes of One Piece.
And then another 11 for the second one, etc. etc.
Long animes give you more than you can offer, but in that way you can submerge yourself in a brand new world at your own pace and feeling.
Instead of being obliged to watch those specific 13/24/52 episodes because that's the entire story.
But that's just me, I guess.
