That's a lie? I always saw it as an example of good public transportation that Brazil should follow... Brazil is not the only who has crappy public transportation? I'm amazed.

Well, perhaps my comment was a little unfair to the good old British rail system.
It all depends on what you define as 'good'.

If by 'good' you mean
"trains arrive and leave roughly 30 minutes after they are meant to"
"train carriages have a slightly musty smell, cramped seats that enable almost no movement in your legs/arms, 'wonderful' microwave reheated bacon sandwiches, and passengers whose natural volume far exceeds most commercial aircraft"
"tickets that cost far more than is necessary (over 100 pounds to get to London from Bristol?!?)"
"the thrill that your train may not even run, due to (but not limited to) leaves on the tracks, stolen electrical cables, signal failures, the wonderful circle and district lines, drunken train-drivers, too much rain, snow, sun..."

If you desire excitement in your life and are not entirely enthused about reaching your destination comfortably, with money left in your pocket, on time, or even at all, then you may well be able to describe the system as 'good'.

I desire slightly different things in my train system. Perhaps I have been spoiled by living in countries like Japan (where trains do as expected and take you from A -> B).
I guess some people have higher standards than others.

Well, I am sure that it could always be worse.

Fun times, I once had a drunk guy try to talk to me and then, when I told him that I was tired from flying for 13 hours to get back from Japan and so didn't want to talk to him, he proceeded to throw up all over me and the seat next to me.
Now that really was a fun way to be welcomed back to the UK!
Especially as that occurred around the start of my 2 hour train journey back home - nothing beats sitting on a train for over an hour tired from airports/flying covered in another guy's vomit!

I guess, perhaps you had to be there...

Hey, hey, just because our transportation systems are not up to scratch doesn't mean that the country is necessarily bad.

England is an awesome place to live. It boasts:
Fantastic weather - no sweating profusely here, no sir!
An almost utter lack of dangerous animals - perhaps the badger is as fearsome as UK critters get (it will take the head off a broom if you are not careful!)
Almost no volcanoes, typhoons, hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, natural disasters - minus a bit of flooding from time to time.
Awesome food and drink (just because all you can name is 'fish and chips' doesn't mean that is all there is to British food [also 'fish and chips' isn't technically British]).
Wonderfully uncomfortable stoney beaches and a sea that will easily cool you off from the unbearable heat of the British summer sun.
Great scenery for hiking and camping.
No rare incurable tropical diseases to catch.
Awesome historical towns/castles/cities/buildings/sites...

If you can get out of London, I would really recommend visiting the UK.
Especially if you like the kind of holidays that require a tent, lots of hiking around interesting terrain and a large supply of effervescent NaDCC tablets.

Any American people please, tell me whether USA public transportation is good. I'll go out of my mind if I get there and be punched by the reality.

It's really hit or miss. It depends on where you're going, and probably what you're used to. You might be fine sitting in a bus, but as someone who's always had access to a car, I'd rather not every step foot in one, unless it was a coach bus or something.

not everyone is that lucky to have a car as a teen/young adult.my mother never drove neither did my gma...
i was the 1st out of my gma/moms/1st unk/1st auntie...me and three other grandkids to get a car(at 20..i bought).
bus was and has been a big part of my life...i'm exactly half and half,from riding one(first 20yrs) and been driving(last 20yrs)
