I wanted to post this theory I put up on my channel about a week ago and see what you all think of it. I looked through the threads and saw a Larcade thread though the last post was from like July 12 of last year so I didn't want to necropost (I will try to be better about posting in pre existing threads btw)

Did he get beat unexpectedly by Sting? Sure. Does it seem far fetched given that the Spriggans have been an overall disappointment to many? I’d be lying to say that it wasn’t. However, I would also say that the potential for him being a villain a particularly impactful one at that is definitely there.

For starters, we all know his big motivation in getting involved with this war was so that he could take Natsu out of the picture. Its no secret that Zeref as a dad was pretty neglectful towards Larcade likely partially due to his curse of contradiction which prevents him from caring about those around him because if he does they die. Needless to say Zeref has always loved his younger brother Natsu. This easily made Larcade jealous and develop daddy issues with papa Zeref to the extent that he has no emotion himself and is obsessed with killing Natsu to earn daddy’s love (cute right?). So sure daddy issues alone can’t make a villain right?

Well there is more to it than that alone. Sure it makes him vindictive towards the main protagonist but also consider this. He is EMPEROR Zeref’s son. So what does that make him? He is the heir to the Alvarez Empire and by bloodlines would be the leader of the Spriggans. If Zeref were to indeed die at the end of the series this would make Larcade the Emperor of the Alvarez Empire. It then is not too far fetched to think that Larcade would take steps to rebuild the empire possibly stronger than ever before. (Think reborn Oracion Seis under Midnight in the Key of the Starry Night). It would in all logic make sense.

So lets review we have a vindictive mage with the power to wipe out more than half the population of Fiore with his super virgin magic powers (more on that later) that has daddy issues who could potentially inherit a powerful empire at the end of this war. But the darkest perhaps most dangerous part of his potential villainy is his magic.

Remember his magic exploits human sin/pleasures. His magic is so strong that when casting at full power it was effecting the entire continent of Fiore even bringing powerful mages like Eileen and even his father Zeref to their knees. All of whom had taken part in…well rather intimate pleasures that…yeah they had sex ok get over it. Now just think here for a moment if all the main ships of this series (Nalu, Jerza, Gruvia, Gale) were to get together after the war and subsequently have children that would then make them all susceptible to dying at the hands of Larcade’s magic. Do you see where I’m going with this yet?

Wouldn’t it be mysterious if Larcade seemingly disappeared at the end of this arc never to be seen or heard of again. Moreover, if someone like Natsu kills Zeref and Zeref finally comes to peace with his existence and parts ways with his brother it could set the stage for an even more vengeful and vindictive Larcade. Think of it like this all your life you tried to get daddy’s approval only to be shunned (albiet for your own safety) and then groomed to be a secret weapon all the while your dad continued on how he loved his brother dearly expressing affection you’ve never felt. Then that brother kills them…you would have one pissed off Larcade.

So if there were to be a Fairy Tail Next Generation Series imagine how crazy it would be if Hiro Mashima the same guy criticized for killing no one in FT suddenly started it off with a bang killing off the previous main cast mysteriously through the son of Zeref, Larcade’s pleasure magic. Starting off the next generation much like the first did. Having to pave their own way without anyone but each other to rely on. I hope you enjoyed this theory if you did be sure to check out my channel LordOTaco and the video above on youtube (maybe throw a like and subscribe my way) or even give me a follow on Twitter. Until next time guys, this LordOTaco signing out!

Stay frosty
