Hey, calm down bro. I am Laxus' fan, but I won't boast my favorite character in front of everyone. Sorry I don't mean to offend you.

First, what is the aim of this thread? To compare Laxus' power to other characters? To discuss Laxus' next possible role in the manga? Or what? I don't get it because there is no interrogative sentence.

Second, I prefer to discuss/theorize Laxus' next role rather than to rank where Laxus' position is at. Characters' strength ranking is pointless imo. Because we just saw it from quality. There is no concrete evidence. Unless we quantify/measure with MPF (Magic Power Finder). There are quantification and score.

I am sorry this is just my opinion ._.V

I understand that many of you like Laxus and that he is your favorite character. I don't blame any of you because all of the true Fairy Tail fans have their own bias. However, I honestly think that Laxus would have lost to Mystogan right then and there during their battle even with nobody else interfering.

As for those of you who say Ajeel is weak, and the weakest spriggan of the Spriggan 12, I also disagree with you guys. We have no way of telling who is the strongest and weakest spriggan of the 12 Shields as we have very little information on their magic and power. Therefore, there it is pointless to discuss it as all of it is pure speculation.

As for the main discussion about whether Laxus, Natsu, or Gray is stronger, it all depends. Again, if you guys are talking about the Alvarez Arc, it is unknown so far. There is no way to tell of their strengths without any evidence. The fact that Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and Erza's attack all did no damage and had no effect on Ajeel does imply that they are not on Ajeel's level. On the other hand, Laxus' magic did cancel out one of Ajeel's top spells and even Ajeel himself admitted that he could have gotten injured if August was not there to help him defend against that attack. This does not necessarily mean Laxus is stronger than Team Natsu though. There are still many unexplained factors that could drastically change the results. For example, we don't know if Lucy and Erza were attacking seriously or just defending themselves. Natsu and Gray also claim that they have some hidden magic spells that they have yet to use as well. For all we know, Laxus might have been trying his best during that attack against Ajeel. It is useless to discuss this, we just have to wait until we see more of their fights and the rest of their tricks up their sleeves.

Where is your proof that Laxus would have lost to Mystogan, you put your words in bold as if its a fact, it's not. Laxus was doing pretty damn well against Mystogan, he didn't even take off his coat during their fight and was laughing and grinning the whole way through. I love Mystogan, he was my favourite character before Hiro sent him off to Edolas, but we can never know who was the superior wizard.

I agree with the Ajeel part though, we have no way of knowing who the strongest Spriggan is, we know August is stronger than the ones Makarov has met, but remember that there are 5 Spriggans who have yet to be unveiled (we know the names of two), they could perhaps be weaker than Ajeel or even stronger than August, we don't know until they are revealed and their powers explained.

Don't be too offended here. I bolded the words to summarize the idea of each paragraph so it can be read easily without having to read every sentence for those of you who hate to read the whole post. I never said it was a fact, instead, I actually said that we all have our own bias meaning we all have our own opinions. Judging from the fight, I believed Mystogan would have won anyways due to his magic. There is no way he can lose the fight. I admit I have no proof that he is stronger than Laxus; however, he actually had more hype than Laxus even though we didn't get to see any feats. Also, don't tell me hype does not matter because I've read the Fairy Tail forum long enough and I can pull out the posts that everyone hypes the Spriggans. They had no feats so far and everybody is hyping them to Zeref's level.

In the manga, it did not quote this statement but as we all know the anime has to be approved by Hiro Mashima as well. In the anime, Erza quotes "Mystogan could well be the strongest mage in Fairy Tail [Disregarding Gildarts Clive]" in response to the question "Who is Mystogan?". If he were truly on the same level as Laxus, Erza would have not hyped Mystogan and said "Mystogan is on the same level with Laxus who is probably the closest person to beating him right now". Either way, all opinions are reserved the right for further analyzing.

As I said earlier, I still can't picture Mystogan losing the fight due to his abilities against Laxus' but I know where I stand, so you guys can choose for yourself.

All I saw in the Laxus vs Mystogan fight was them testing each other out and Laxus was laughing and grinning thought the entire ordeal. You just said there is no way Mystogan can lose that fight, what basis do you have for that claim?

Erza said he may well be the strongest mage, again this is speculation, Erza knew nothing about Mystogan's power and magic, she simply knew him to be a powerful wizard so she said he may be the strongest, she never said he is the strongest and when Laxus was battling Hades she said she had no idea that Laxus was that powerful, she knew nothing about both their magic.

The reason why I said Mystogan cannot lose is because his attacks prevent him from being hit. His Air Magic specifically, Mist Body, enables him to dodge anything even Laxus' Lightning Body attack. We didn't get to see all of Mystogan's attack but his Three Layered Magic Circle: Mirror Water could reflect Laxus' attack right back at him if used at the right time, which would injure Laxus greatly because as you claim, since he is that strong, if he is hit with his own attack of that magnitude that could put him at a disadvantage. This is just my point of view on how the fight would go if it lasted longer.

A dragon slayers own element is useless against them especially if it's their own magic. Have you not been reading/watching FT? This has happened countless times with Natsu, so the three layer magic circle would be useless against Laxus. The whole Mystogan can't be hit is bullocks, Laxus clearly affected him with the spell he activated just after he broke through Mystogan's illusion, even though Mystogan avoided part of it using mist body he was still affected, I doubt Laxus would just never be able to hit him.

Well, first of all, that is not true. I don't know where you got that information from. I need proof if you want me to believe you. If you obtained in information from the Fairy Tail Wikia, I want to know who wrote that sentence and ask them where they got the information from. I looked at their source (Fairy Tail Manga) that they cited and read the exact chapters/page numbers. It did not explain anything that has to do with immunity to their magic. It only talked about consuming the element. Also, the reason he was hit by Laxus' attack was because he was caught off guard. In a serious fight, Mystogan could dodge any attack. He already proved that by negating one of the fastest known spells (lightning).

Everytime Natsu is hit with fire he says it doesn't affect him and just swallows it, not saying Laxus can swallow the lightning because it's his own but he will not be affected by it just like how fire doesn't affect Natsu, so sending his lightning back at him would just not do anything to him.

Mystogan was caught in Laxus' attack when they were battling right after Laxus broke out of the skyscraper illusion spell, telling Mystogan "looks like your the one who's slow on the uptake" and then attempted to take him out using lightning body and then Mystogan used mist body to evade. All you have to do is rewatch the anime or read the scene in the manga. I just finished watching it on Netflix and Laxus got an attack in, so your whole argument of he would never be able to hit Mystogan is wrong.

Did you seriously not know that Dragon Slayers can't be affected by their own elements?

I still don't remember when Natsu was hit by his own fire and said it doesn't affect him. I still need proof on that. If you're talking about how he was hit by someone else's fire, then your whole argument is invalid. A dragon slayer is not totally immune to his own element. That is like saying Orga has no effect on Laxus or Totomaru and Zancrow have no effect on Natsu which is not the case.

I've watched and read that scene countless times. I never denied that Mystogan never got hit. I simply stated that Mystogan could dodge that attack if he was in a serious fight that was a matter of life and death. I still think that Mystogan was just caught off guard during that attack that Laxus inflicted upon him anyways. Even if he wasn't, I still don't see how Mystogan would lose. What magic does Laxus have that is powerful enough to defeat Mystogan? Mystogan also probably had more magic spells that were not shown.

Again, I still haven't seen any proof that dragon slayers are not affected by their own elements.

Your point involving Orga and Zancrow is invalid because they use different magic. They use God Slaying Magic, which is an enhanced version of Dragon Slaying Magic if you'd call it that. What @Stormfury is talking about is how Regular elemental attacks and their own magic isn't effective against them, which should be the case. We haven't seen a Dragon Slayer get hit by his own magic, but it shouldn't effect him/her that much.
There's also the question of whether the lighting he used on Mysotogan differed from the lightning he used against Natsu and Gajeel, as that was Lightning Dragon Slaying Magic. If the lightning was different to the dragon slaying magic, he could eat it and not be effected in any negative way.

Just because it is god slaying magic, it doesn't make it a different element. What about Totomaru though? Plus, if Natsu was immune to all fire and Laxus was immune to all lightning that would damn OP. So you're saying that Jellal's Fire of Rebuke, Jackal's Explosions, and Uosuke's Terrain Effect: Lava Zone would have no effect on Natsu? I can't think of any lightning mages so i'll leave that out but this should be enough questions for you to answer.

Jackal's explosions aren't fire magic, but a curse. They did have their effect on Natsu, damaging him, but mind you this was at point-blank range.
Totamaru is from Phantom Lord right? I totally forgot about the guy aha. His fire didn't damage Natsu at all, so my point that regular fire (excluding slayer magic fire) has no effect on Natsu. Uosuke's Terrain Effect isn't fire magic so I have no clue about that one, but no doubt it wouldn't hinder Natsu as much as it would others.
And I didn't say that God Slaying Magic didn't make it a different element, just a different type of whatever element it is. Consider the slaying an added effect if you will. We've seen Natsu resist all flames except for Jackal's explosions at point-blank range and Zancrow's God Slayer Flames, so why wouldn't he resist most fire incluing his own? It'd be the same for Laxus and lightning magic. Erza's lightning didn't effect him much when she attacked him with it, which shows that he can resist it.

Yes, Totomaru is from Phantom Lord. Even if the characters I mentioned don't use fire magic, they still have magic with the properties of fire. In theory, it should still have an effect on him.

You're implying that all should have a consistent effect on Natsu, but as we've seen, different magic does different things. It doesn't matter so much about the properties of fire, but rather what the spell being cast is supposed to do.

Either way, you can believe what you want. I know for a fact that dragon slayers are not immune to their element. Now, the real question is if they are immune to their own magic. I think the Fairy Tail Wikia is wrong. I am certain that they are not immune to their own magic. I just can't find a scenario to prove it but I guess nobody else can either because there has hardly been any evidence of this happening.

Your point went from Dragon Slayers not being resistant to their element to not being immune to their element. Did you mean from the start that they weren't immune to their element, or were you saying they aren't resistant to it? I'd agree that they aren't immune to it, but they do resist it unless in special cases like against another highly advanced type of the element (i.e god slayer magic).

My whole argument from the start was against Stormsfury. My point was that they are not immune to their own magic* meaning that if their magic that is reflected back, it will have an effect on them. Resistant or not is a totally different topic. I never debated about that. Resistance to magic has to do with durability and not really on the type of magic used.

*NOTE: Magic and Element are totally different. Element means that they cannot get hit from an opponent that has the same magic. Own Magic means that an attack they use can backfire and injure or hit them. I stand my position where I believe a dragon slayer can be affected by their own magic. If you guys disagree, I need proof.

And we need proof they can be affected by their own magic. I think that they shouldn't be affected by their own magic, but if they are affected, that effect is minimal.

Didn't those weird dudes with the giant frying pan absorb natsu's fire and shot it back at him, way back in the day break arc or whatever it's called.

Chapter 7 they absorbed his attack and he went right through it.
