A LoneLobo Review
Hi guys! Not much to say here, except for: finally some time to do a review! Welcome to a LoneLobo review.
Let us start with the cover in one sentence: it is fun to see the giants are still fighting. Okay, on to the chapter. We pick up where we left off last week with Hody now commenting on the stunning revelation that Shirahoshi knew who killed her mother. Megalo saw it and told her years later, but she did not say anything because it was her mother's last wish not to hate that person... okay. So she kept that promise, was all alone for a decade in that tower and did not say anything. She must have really, really loved her mother for keeping that promise. But, when she loved her mother that much, it is hard to believe that she could forgive the murderer of her mother then... but it is a Manga with idealistic, and sometimes not that realistic, characters... so, well, I can actually live with it.
And I really like Hody's reaction to that. He just laughs at her, calls her stupid and reveals to her that in the end she could've prevented all this. Man, he is evil. I like him =P Hody kinda reminds me off Crocodile in Alabasta. And for fun he nearly kills her father and brothers right before her very eyes.
Then we jump to Madame Shirley, who is asked by some kids when Strawhat would come to destroy the island. After being told that she cannot exactly say, these three kids wish that Luffy would appear right now to stop the king from being killed. We learn: They really like their current king, even so much that they would be willing to sacrifice their kingdom to destruction. The adults join them and all want Luffy to appear and destroy the island. That... is kinda strange. oO Oh well. Hody is pissed (he is a realist) and now wants to show them reality by, finally..., killing the king. But before he can finish his job, Shirahoshi shouts out for help to the only person who was able to help her until now: Luffy-sama!
And then we could the picture of the month: Megalo spits out Luffy with a "Blech" and a lot of saliva. That picture is just gorgeous and so, so funny. Anyway, I think at least 50% of the readers thought that Luffy was hiding there. At least, Shirahoshi with her hugebottom body fit in there. Luffy then uses Soru and Gear 2nd jump kicks Hody. This was really well drawn IMO. And we learn again: I made a theory a few... 25 chapter away or so, that Luffy can use Gear 2nd without actually doing that pumping scene (which looks so well in the anime). Here again: he just uses it.
On we go with the chapter. Luffy is still covered in... spit (awesome) strikes an epic pose and everyone is surprised that he really did appear. Jinbei is pissed that Luffy came out early, but hey, should he have waited for the king being killed? Nami appears after releasing her mirage technique, which is a pretty cool one. She was able to steal the Tenryuubito letter and the keys to the locks. It seems to me that Nami is getting old... in her old days she wouldn't have needed the mirage
Just joking. Robin-chan then opens the locks and OMG it is the Sunny-Go in the sky. Wait.. how did it get there? I vote plot hole, but maybe Oda will explain this in a flashback next week. Franky launches a nuclear-missile the Gaon Canon and blasts right into the NFP. The whale whose name I already forgot retrieves the royal family, the Sunny-Go lands in the plaza and then every Strawhat Pirate is there... okay. Last time I checked Zoro, Usopp and Brook were imprisoned and Robin was somewhere else. Okay, Robin was near Luffy and Co., so that is fine with me. Team Zoro was either rescued by Nami and Robin, or Brook used his Ghost-Technique. When asked if they are friend or foe Luffy answers that they themselves should decide. This is surprisingly a nice answer, which is very true in itself. And so the chapter ends.
I really, really liked this chapter. It was fast-paced, but in a very perfect way. The plot really got forward, it was one cool scene after another and hey, Luffy covered in snot. Priceless. Which brings me to the downside of this chapter: it could've been some fan-fiction. For me it felt that way, because Oda is normally not the type to just throw everything at us (Luffy saving the king, the Strawhat Pirates miraculously appearing, etc.). It felt kind of wrong, but nonetheless, I really enjoyed this chapter.
What will happen next week? I vote for a flashback showing us the preparation for the Gaon Canon attack and how Zoro and Co. escaped. It will be the setup for the real fight in two weeks. The fights shouldn't take that long, I think they will defeat Hody fast. This arc, excluding the party-chapter(s), should be wrapped up in the next 5 to 10 chapters.
