Discussion Luffy will die when One piece ends.

I really don't want Luffy to follow Roger. I think after Luffy finds One Piece he will join his dad in the war against World Government to overthrow them.
And if Luffy will have grave problems with his health there is Chopper to cure him.

It doesn't mean if Roger died when he became PK, Luffy will die when he became PK.

Since Luffy/ SH Crew will fight the WG after this because of the blank century of whatever it is since this has been build up from the start and cannot be ignored.

Sure Luffy won't be able to reach what his age might be but he will live long enough.

no way this will happen, because once they get one piece they will become too infamous to get back to their normal lives in east blue. Remember there will be a bigger EPIC WAR coming between the revolutionaries and the World government. This time the Tenryūbito will step in with their own military force to back up the world government.

Franky wont work on ships with Iceberg again because he swear not to make anymore ships after sunny. If he wanted to do this he would have stayed in water 7. Plus he's even more infamous now then before, he can not possibly stay in water 7 anymore.

I still think Luffy will die either in battle or from over abuse of his own body. But not after he accomplished all his goals first.

His theory is basing of a time when the World Government/Mary Joa[Celestial Dragons: which army besides the Marines? nothing was implied till now] was taken over by the Revolutionaries & Mugiwara Alliance, please read it all through before you post. :P So there is no need to hide for "hero/good" pirates anymore with a correct Marine force. They never did something bad besides fighting against foul forces and steal a little bit of gold [That was offered to them or taken from other pirate crews].

Eh Brooks Devil Fruit was already used and it was a "one-time" power, bringing back from the dead. It doesn't keep him alive, it just made his skelleton able to live like a normal human. His powers and speed are due to him being so light and his prior experience as a pirate.

I've thought about this for a while now. I dunno if anyone have bring this up yet.

But I notice there have been a lot of reference to luffy's health throughout the manga ever since he acquired his new technique (gear 2 and 3).

After impel town where he lost more of his lifespan to the poison and now going through all the damage done to him at the marine HQ. I think Oda is setting up the backbone of luffy's early death.

Like many famous pirates before him the talented always die young and it does make for great story/ending.

In 10 years time when one piece concludes, luffy might conquer the seas but his final adventure might end with him self sacrifice for the sake of his crew or another form of early death.

At the moment I can not see him settling down with wife and kids after his adventures. He will go out with a bang.

I think this is possible now that Oda shows us how he can kill a main/loved character in one piece. It will be sad but I think it will be a fitting ending for Luffy and one piece. Live happily ever after have been used too often already..

Just a thought, what does everyone else think?

After a 2 year timeskip being introduced which I do not like, that presents the potential for characters personality and appearace to change drastically, I wouldn't be surprised if he does die.

I think that he will also die, but peacefully like Roger did.

If Luffy does die, it is the biggest death in the history of Manga/Video Games/Novelization.

I believe that Raftel is the first Island Luffy set out on, and that after circling the New World and conquering everything they will come to the realization that "One Piece" was the adventure they had all set out on, there is no final island cause the world is round.

This is insanely unlikely because there must be some real thing behind the Celestial Dragons and Will of D and everything, but I thought it'd be a good poetic end for OP.

Luffy would sacrifice himself like Roger to inspire future generations to go out and adventure.

Luffy != Roger, even if they both share the same spirit. Luffy neither has an mortal illness, nor does he have a reason to die for anybody yet, conversely he wants to have fun with them and this 2Y time skip will help them to rescue him in dangerous situations. Rayleighs training, the uprising of the revolutionaries, what points to such an end? Odacchi may love Toriyama, but the hero dying wouldn't be a good end for such a humorous stoy.

Those have been my thoughts for awhile now. Hence with why Rayleigh talking to Robin about what they learned and that as they are now they wouldn't be able to do a thing about what happened during the blank century because they were not strong enough yet, and hopefully will be when they reach the end. Also, with Dragon being Luffy's dad, I could see a third arc happening after Luffy becomes the pirate king which would entail the revolution against the world government and a new era being created.

I've always thought that One Piece wouldn't be the standard large amounts of gold type treasure (although that should be part of it), but what really got me was Whitebeard's words about how Teach wouldn't be the one to "meet Roger" and carry on his will. Which makes me think that One Piece also has to do with the Will of D.

That being said, I would absolutely rage if Oda-sensei killed off Luffy. Yes it would be totally out of left-field at that point, but I can't for the life of me see why he would do it. Killing Luffy after everything just seems mean-spirited at that point.

The way I see the manga ending is the strawhat pirates getting past raftel and going to reverse mountain once again. Once that happens we see them all thinking "soo.... what now" and after a pause "again! kampai" and the manga ends...

But what would the conclusion to the Void Century and all things Rayleigh said at Shanbodi A. be, if it were just to end after they see the Red Line again? Oda adding that just for imagination wouldn't make any sense and many fans would be disappointed.

Luffy just can't die..... He needs to live to carry on the new age. what's the point of dying when he stated that being the pirate king means you have the most freedom in the sea... If you die there is no freedom for your crew or people you know. it could have monopoly effect.

This is my prediction:

He will find one piece, be the king etc etc but leave one piece alone to continue the pirate age. With years being taken out of him from injected hormones, he will get near to the end of his life. Chopper will produce medicine to keep him alive until they get back to SA. He will die there after disbanding the crew and die as the pirate king. Maybe he'd do a roger and reignite the flame of the pirate age (like WB also).

I just highly doubt Oda would actually write Luffy's death into the story. I mean, obviously he'll die eventually, but I just don't see it playing a part in the story.

Gol D. Roger's death has already set off a storm, and I just don't think it would have the same effect or be as impactful just to repeat that with Luffy.

Although I like the general idea of Luffy dying at the end cause it makes sense with all the strain he is putting his body under...I just don't think he would die. Chopper will save him.
One Piece is about the happy adventures of Luffy and co. I don't think it would end with Luffy dying.

To me, the ending will be Luffy and strawhats reaching Raftel. After waiting a while for the log pose to change he then tells his crew to turn back and they'll start another adventure - this time using a different route from the one they used (you know how there are multiple routes possible?) and a new adventure begins! And that will be the end. This also thus leaves open for a million fan-based continuations of the story.
Either that or upon arriving at Raftel they find a ponygleph that tells them that One Piece is back at East Blue or something like that where Roger was born. So then they'll experience new adventures using a different route.

Pirates like Luffy don't want to obtain One Piece, cause then their adventures would be all over. By the time they reach Raftel each crew member will be mature enough to not care about One Piece anymore and instead want to go on new adventures with each other.

And I just don't see Luffy dying, repeating what Roger did.
I think every single crew member will not have fulfilled their dreams by the end - because if they did then their adventures would pretty much stop given they have no more goals.
