I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.
For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.
Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.
Sign-ups!
To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.
All you have to do is go to>>this thread<<and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.
While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.
In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:
-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).
Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!
Well, I wanted to hear their opinions on this because, to me, it feels unfair. Frankly for players like me. I thought the high council should take a closer look to make sure everyone gets a fair chance to play, instead of being blocked by extra layers of rules that feel unnecessary.
Since you’re speaking on behalf of the other counsel members, that’s fine by me. I’ll just share my perspective as someone who sees it differently.
the rule is framed as giving the host “flexibility,” flexibility without limits can easily turn into dictatorship. If a host has unchecked authority, then decisions can be made based on feelings, pressure, or old grudges rather than fairness.
there’s already a punishment system in place for disruptive or toxic players. If someone is truly a problem, they can be restricted from signing up. That system is clear and fair. Adding this extra rule just creates another layer of subjectivity that can unfairly block players who haven’t actually done anything wrong. I get the logic of prevention stopping problems before they start. But prevention can just as easily turn into punishment for something that hasn’t even happened. People can change, or maybe they just had one rough game. Blocking them “just in case” feels unfair and risks freezing players out for very long time.
I’ll leave it at that. I only hope the rule doesn’t end up being used to settle old scores instead of protecting the game as said.
Like I said, these so called councils are just settling old scores with rules they constantly change. Everything I argued about is happening exactly as I expected.
I applied to play and got rejected without a real reason, and they told me not to be upset . Yet my last three games showed improvement in my skill and behavior. I even won solo as a Mafia recruited member in one game and helped the town win in two others. Sure, I didn’t play perfectly in some games when I was learning, but that’s part of growing as a player.
Still, I’m constantly targeted by players holding grudges over something that happened five years ago, grudges strong enough to influence council members to create wallz against me to prevent me from playing. It’s pathetic. At least give me a real reason if you’re going to punish me, instead of this nonsense.
A host can deny players if their friends aren’t okay with it okay fine. But that’s a terrible rule. I’m ready to burn all bridges, but I’ll make sure doubt is planted in return. If old drama won’t be buried, then so be it.
The host who denied me actually cheated in a game and messaged me during the day phase, asking me not to retaliate when I was about to get lynched by my own Mafia team, led by one terrible butthurt player. They feared I would tell on their names them. Me and that host were on the same team, It got funnier once they lost and decided to put the blame on me for the loss. That proves they’ll do anything to win, and if they lose, you get the blame.
I try as much as I can to avoid certain hosts because I can smell foul play all the time. I guarantee they support each other, directly or indirectly, to look competent.
Do a little research and fill in the blanks and you’ll know who’s who. Yes, I said it, and I have screenshots to prove it. With that said, I don’t think i will play again and I wish everyone else good luck, and if I caused any misfortune to your mafia game experience, I’m truly sorry. Always remember what goes around comes around. Just chill, and stand by. for life eventually punishes the wicked.
While everyone is usually welcome to sign up for a game, the Host may refuse to accept Players they do not feel comfortable hosting in their game based on previously established negative conduct.
We don't mesh well and I can't trust you to respect me while hosting a game. As expected and displayed, this would be a waiting game for your "mood to get contaminated" and then you consciously start to act up. So I made a call and I'm fine with you or others not liking it. Feel free to manifest your displeasure while I may feel free to consider this matter done on my end.
For a game about secretly murdering/eating people, there's far too much hostility flying around for me to ever step into this quagmire (also, I reckon I've decided that Werewolf is a game that is best played in person, rather than through internet forums)
I would love to play, but given how last game was too stressful time-wise for me in certain phases, I will have to decline this time for I can’t dedicate as much time and effort as I’d like.
