I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.
For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.
Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.
Sign-ups!
To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.
All you have to do is go to>>this thread<<and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.
While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.
In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:
-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).
Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!
The host aren't complaining though, so we're gucci.
In those games where this thread had to be locked, that was due to much more specific game talk going on, mostly due to lynched people being triggered.
Ust comes to mind
I agree that the talk at the moment is basically nothing, since it's all like "Ah good job we killed a Mafia" and nothing else, but if Gary wants to preserve the thread as game-related-post-free for good, locking it is the only way. That's what I meant.
I meant freely as in no implemented restriction. I think I agree with Evil. Let it be, as long as people know better they can be punished. Punish if it happens. Altho a problem that alrdy happened could heavily affect an on going game.
I'm fine with one-liners which say nothing about the game, expect the outcome of the lynching (which is either crying or celebrating, in this case celebrating): Just happy we got a mafia at day 1, when was the last time that happened? Also gnut/Gry, thanks for saving xnut's lazy butt and giving Holt the final kill. Though that wouldn't have been necessary if Panda had gone with the votelock tiebreaker as I had expected.^^

Because it still can effect the perception people have of the players. The fact that you rushed in here the moment the game thread was closed spazzing out in elation in ALL CAPS, is essentially playing the game when the game thread is locked. So the next time someone is getting squeezed hardcore and they make it through the day somehow, if they don't post like you did, does that mean that they were bullshitting? Or does it mean the opposite?
There's a difference between someone making a vague comment about the phase's conclusion, or a dead player posting a silly "farewell", and what Philia did last game after he was lynched. People are still continuing to play the game in public (maybe unintentionally) when they shouldn't be doing it at all.
And locking the thread can't prevent discussion no, so if there's no way to prevent this from happening, we either penalize the people who do it....otherwise, why do we even lock the game thread at night anyways? Oftentimes the game still gets played here during the Night.

With moving to Xenforo, PMs are quite a bit more easy to browse. The Hosts could have easily created a conversation and added more people to it as they were eliminated, if such a thing was desired.

Ah, I forgot about Pat's post...well either way, same result really.
Can anybody please give me a list of hosts who I can contact (annoy) to look at my Gambler/Mafia Gambler/Old Cat Lady roles to see if they can get approved? I think the Gambler ones got a real chance to both make it!
I'll try to catch up with your suggestions, your mind is just too creative '-''''
You could try to host -afaik you've shown to be quite knowledgable about the game- and use some of your ideas as 1 game only mechanics tbh, sounds easier than adding 300 roles to the permanent list every month.
Not only are we forced to have anew discussion about long agreed upon rules and guidelines again, which took ages to find compromises that please the majority, but also talk about some -new tweeks- which all wouldn't have been necessary if carried out right.
