I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.
For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.
Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.
Sign-ups!
To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.
All you have to do is go to>>this thread<<and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.
While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.
In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:
-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).
Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!
I‘m not saying it wasn‘t randomized, I‘m saying the randomizer is awful. And that maybe hosts should consider rerolling everything or randomly swapping the townie lover with another townie or the mafia lover with another mafia, so that at least the Lover secondary role goes to someone else? Because what‘s the point of staying on full randomizer when nobody is happy over it.
Just been thinking about it because that‘s really weird.
Just put a "lover ban" on those who were lovers so often aka don't include their names in the randomizer so they can't be chosen. Keep that ban for like 3 games and then you can enter their names again.

That doesn't work, we'd know that in those three games those members couldn't be lovers.
It's not something we can introduce into practice now, not with the change of hosts etc. Too much people would know of this so it'll influence how the game is played. It should be randomized, the hosts should just figure out if they should reshuffle again, automatically or manually.
It's called RNG for a reason. Not denying that the frequency there is rather uncanny, but people have to know when they're signing up that they could be any of the approved roles. Going into a game that could have Lovers and knowing that SonOfDaws or desin24 have a lower to non-existent chance of being one is harmful and goes against the nature of the game.
For the lovers issue, if one player gets a lover role again (or had one for the past 2 or 3 games), it should be reshuffled. I think it is not so randomized if a person gets the same role over and over again. Same with all the roles.

Still the purpose of randomize is not knowing the role and if we're in the game and we already know desin and dawn can't be lover, it kinda defy the purpose of randomizing

Reshuffling doesn't fix this issue. Tryhard players will go back and count how many times a person has had a specific primary or secondary role and use that as a basis for deduction. Hosts can't "help" players in this manner.

Nobody ever goes into a game thinking about Lovers. It would change nothing for everyone playing. They can both still be mafia and town, those odds don‘t change. The only one affected by this would be a Threesome candidate, who has yet to ever succeed in guessing the Lovers anyway...
James, stop fucking doing it every single time the day ends...... I'm not even in game and that still triggers the hell out of me, not to mention that ignoring the warnings and requests over and over like you're doing is disrespectful as hell to everybody.

Beg to differ. Lovers are featured quite often. Of course they're secondary roles, so how important they are to the Lovers themselves is up to them. But it's secret info that the other Town and Mafia don't have, which can result in Townie and Mafia deaths at the very least.
Keep in mind that this isn't an evaluation of the power of the Lover role, not every role has to have an easy path to victory. Plenty are just fine as "bastard" roles, that exist to add layers of doubt and complexity to the puzzle. I just fundamentally disagree with hosts rerolling things because it happens "too often" or it's somehow inconvenient. It's not random if you keep rerolling until you're satisfied with the result. And there's a shitload of things that can be extrapolated from knowing a host may do something like that.

I get what you mean but I don‘t agree at all because I don‘t see it doing any harm to the game whatsoever. They are secondary roles on a townie and a mafia. You don‘t have to reshuffle everything, you could randomly swap the mafia lover with one of his mafia teammates, and randomly swap the townie lover with one other townie player. It changes little to nothing, only lets new people experience a secondary role.

If I were hosting I‘d probably be very close to penalties or hostkills for game related talk in this thread by some people This isn‘t ok.
