I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.
For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.
Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.
Sign-ups!
To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.
All you have to do is go to>>this thread<<and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.
While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.
In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:
-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).
Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!
Your point has been made abundantly clear now, save flaming the host for after the game. Holt is doing his best and closing the game this way is basically best practices. Barely ever before has it been the case a player does not respect the host in this regard, since the intent is clear as day
Raven, ideally, what you're saying would be the most sensible way to close the thread.
The problem is in reality..
That only fucks over players like you and me with no mod privileges.
So, the typing thread closed serves as the line in the sand that's clear to everyone and actually in the thread.
Still, you're right, this seems like a good addition to make to the rules because otherwise, it's really just up to each host on how they feel they should close the thread and I don't like that either.
I didn't get any other tag till this so I haven't checked here in a while, but we're just going to keep saying the same thing.
Half the players are half-mods. They have special permissions in this forum. When a thread is closed, almost 80% or more of the players can still post in there. MH doesn't show seconds of posts (or I've missed it). If I lock the thread first, when it gets back, I would see posts that were made in the time between using the lock action and when the thread gets locked. I would have no way to know which post came before an actual lock. The best way is to post (to serve as a stamp) and then disregard everything after. This is how it's always been done, no rules are being broken. I'm sure you've also seen numerous players, host and council members agreeing that this is standard. There really isn't anything to say anymore.
And here, being a mod doesn't matter much. I'm just a host
@Holt Remember the old FT days, the toxicity of the board. Let it seep in and how you had to deal with it, and strike the naysayers down with your global powers!
You think you did anything useful to fix FT section, It was me who saved it. I solo saved the entire section from dupes invasions, You could only delete post, that what you are good at..

Raven: don't let supermods see invisible people it's BEYOND UNFAIR even though in 80 games it has never mattered.

Holt: alright I write thread locked before locking so that more and hosts don't have a clear advantage on who gets killed.
Raven: no fuck you what the fuck is wrong with you.

Jokes aside, holt, I'm confident that, as a mod, you have the option (somewhere at the bottom of the page) to close the thread with a post (I'm confident I have done it before). Not disagreeing, just handing you a tool.
Edit: oh with the forum change that was lost, nevermind.
