So while talking with everyone's favorite goddess worshipper @OtakuFreak I came to realize that Merlin could've broken the curses at any point.

1. It was established that Mel can train to DK level by his own effort, but the problem that he always noted was that he never had the time. (even if we assume this dumbass spent the last 3,000 years doing shit after each death.)

2. However, Merlin has the spell chronal coffin, which stops time. So if she were to cast it on Elizabeth and stop her time, then use absolute cancel to break the coffin afterwards, then Mel would have more than ample time to train to break the curses himself.

3. I'm going to assume that chronal coffin can be canceled due to the fact that if she was willing to cast it on Mel, then it must be breakable unless she just intended to freeze him and essentially put him in a state of living death.

4. Infinity by its very nature can oppose the direct power of the DK's commandments, so with this in mind if Elizabeth's time is stopped (which is an indirect element of the SD's curse as the SD did not manipulate time itself, but rather just uses it as a count down) then the curse shouldn't affect Elizabeth and kill her.

5. DK and SD basically almost sold their souls for Merlin's power. If they were willing to give parts of their power for hers, then hers in probably in the same range.

All in all I think Nakaba f'ed up by trying so hard to make Mel seem like such a god. Feel free to disagree and what not. I don't like you guys anyway. JK

The Supreme Deity blessed Merlin with the power to break ''any & ALL MANNER of dark curses & commandments'' - She could've broke the curses all along... :cheez:catshrug

The only explanation that prevented Merlin from doing so involves the very nature of Elizabeth's curse itself. It's fair to assume that Meliodas curse is demonic by nature, but we don't know if this applies to Elizabeth since her curse from the SD might be considered ''angelic''. As such, Merlin was only capable of breaking Meliodas curse but never did because it has no benefit whilst Elizabeth still perpetually reincarnates.

However even then.... as the BIZHOP has pointed out (@MrSchmitty7 ) Merlin could've simply frozen time for the first reincarnation of Elizabeth when she awakened her memories and gave Meliodas decades to train to the level of the Demon King...

If I was Nakaba I would excuse it by saying the curse is somehow too strong to be frozen in time. That they intentionally make it stronger than a commandment is, since commandments can simply be bypassed by her timestop. Then Merlin would be unable to stop elizabeth's time for even 0.0001 secs or something so that she can't cheese with infinity.

Meliodas does have an excuse for being unable to change which is something along the lines of him losing his emotions when he awakens his dark power. Problem is that it's not like he has Commandments inside of him when he does this, the curse isn't directly mind controlling him unless he dies. So if he became Assault Mode Meliodas level of strength, what in reality would happen is he would be way too strong to be killed and then he would also never need to gather the commandments.

A possible excuse I could use would be that the curse somehow inhibits him from reaching the level of the demon king, forcing him to follow the demon king's agenda if he awakens his full assault mode power. For example, the DK steals his emotions from him when he dies, but what if becoming strong also had the same effect, so that if he trained up to assault mode tier of strength, he would have no choice but to begin gathering commandments. AKA the demon king just awakened more of his darkness when he died and went to purgatory, which he would've done anyways if he trained his dark powers on his own. The story does actually say that him awakening the dark power has a direct effect of making him more emotionless.

So basically, he had no real plan to become strong enough to break the commandments, other than the pipe dream of him somehow becoming strong without inevitably also awakening his darkness, which it seems like he was going for.

Yeah I would by into the idea of him becoming more evil with the more darkness that he has, but my only problem with it is that the training arc basically showed that he can control it as long as he has emotions and this includes prime levels of darkness because before the series even started a side chapter showed him having his peak mark and that is the power that he was given back after he passed his trials, so if they believe that he can control that darkness I think he should be able to control more if he just trains.

That and even if he couldn't then he can just use his OG magic after seeing Elizabeth frozen for forever.

I still think chrono coffin would work on Elizabeth because the SD's curse doesn't really affect time, but just uses it as a countdown, so if anything it should just be merlin's magic vs time instead of the SD's magic

Yeah, time magic in general is weird sometimes, when it's not just treated like a 'stasis' effect that is limited in force in its ability to freeze things in place. If you are somehow 'affecting a concept of time itself', which seems very weird to me, then it's hard to imagine that not working.

Merlin is the Erza of this series, her power changes, increases or decreases according to plot needs. Her abilities too depend upon situations.
Well Merlin is better than Erza cause Merlin Is an amazing and talented and all knowing wizard that's why she's pulling bullshits is kinda ok but Erza LOL "POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND FEELINGS"

Erza uses the same BS to instant win every time. She usually just slashes someone with a powered up sword while in a fanservice outfit. Merlin uses somewhat different bs to win, and loses half of the time, but in a way where her later BS makes it seem like she would've always won if she tried her hardest. So yeah, Merlin is better than Erza to an extent.

You know. I also realized that as well.

Merlin had absolute cancel, which she could use it: to remove spells, with a duration or not like they were nothing but she never used it to remove the commandments or the curses.

Should be kinda obvious that she would've tried Absolute Cancel on the curses of meliodas and elizabeth, didn't work. The only thing she can do with absolute cancel is free herself or others from a commandment, like how she got out of the petrification, since garan was no longer there to instantly re-apply it.

I doubt she tried we assume that she tried but we never actually had confirmation about that or did you forgot how power merlin was?

She defeated 2 guys that both of them were as strong as all the commandments put together like they were nothing more than insects.

This is a boring thought-process. "Assume there are extra errors because why not". That's how it seems like you're thinking. That's just a waste of time to try to make new flaws show up. The point of manga is to be enjoyed. I am not saying to turn a blind eye to the demonstrable flaws or not think critically, but Absolute Cancel not working is consistent. All you have to assume is that there is a limit to how powerful of a spell it can cancel.

Time to trigger everyone:

-Merlin's main strengths are her infinity, magic knowledge and general versatility or "hax" she has. Her gifts from the Gods are pretty incredible and makes her a scary opponent. She's intelligent and has tools to figure out an enemies weakness and should she be given the opportunity to play on this, I think she could beat people even above her in PL.

However, from what we have seen her actual strength has limitations. Notably, without amplifying the weakness of an enemy, her magic itself struggles to damage individuals at 168-173,000 and has been shown to be overwhelmed by top tier characters using their magic against her (e.g Chandler and Original Demon pretty much outbeat her in raw power). Physically, we've seen Merlin get nuked by Zeldris and get hurt pretty significantly and outmanouevered by other characters like Galan, Chandler, etc.

I think she's a competent fighter due to how she can amplify someone's weakness to make up for the lack of her raw power or do 'hax' feats. If Merlin can prepare against someone in a fight (like how she did against the masters) then she could defeat anyone hypothetically. But in actual combat, I think she struggles and would get defeated by characters around Chandler/Cusack or superior.

Tired of seeing constant weaknesses being brought up despite the constant note of her power affecting the DK, yet somehow her damage output cannot surpass chandler? Actually take note of EVERYTHING she does...
Thanks for your opinion. Its not shared. But from 'what we have seen' dont blame u for the conclusion. There no point talking about Merlin when we know she isn't fighting with everything she got. She never has. Exterminate ray isn't all she has... If u cant see how from the latest reveal about her explains alot, then again no point continuing.
She has hardly used her true power.

The Merlin Kingdom wish you the best in life...talk to u when she does her St release, or we ACTUALLY see her full arsenal. So come back after a couple or few more chapters, thank you.

She didn't even damage the Demon King? Logically, if she cannot even go beyond scratching Chandler without amplifying his elemental weakness, how could she harm a God?

She has hardly used her true power.
I mean I could say the same thing about Elizabeth, but it has no merit in a discussion since it is something in the distant future.

If you want to argue Merlin's power in relation to Elizabeth or any other character, then bring me actual feats which we have seen Merlin do. You get upset that I supposedly ''downplay'' her but don't show me anything to convince me otherwise?
