There has been a lot of debate about the logic behind Minato's sacrifice, and I decided to make this thread in order to settle this once and for all.
Why people found it pointless:
You are much more useful when you aren't dead.
He could have been there for Naruto

Why people found it noble:
He sacrificed himself in order to cut the Kyuubi's power in half.
He didn't want his wife to sacrifice herself alone.
