mIRC is basically a program where you can go into 'chat' like rooms called channels. From those channels sometimes you can download a lot of things that you can not get elsewhere. #Lurk is the channel that the guide walks you thru.

If you read the guide it will help you out a lot. ^_^

sorry, i kinda stuck at the step "3i" and all the steps downstream to it..

Step 3i: Make sure the #Lurk channel window is in focus, then type in the string shown in the image, only taking note to replace the highlighted text with the text you memorized from the last step. Hit enter to send the string, then go to the next step.

this is because i cant see any 'string', image or highligted text.. i'm kinda new in this stuff, so pls be patient wif me.

Ahh.. it's not that hard...

I t asked you to write

/msg nickserv register <yourpassword> <youremail@domain>

So, let say your prefered password is 12345 and your REAL email is [noparse][email protected][/noparse]
So, just type in

/msg nickserv register 12345 [email protected]

The pictures are a little dated (maybe?) compared to the version of mIRC I DLed, but I figured it out with little problem.

Is it common that if mIRC isn't used for a while, you have to reregister your nick?

When I first started using mIRC I used it a lot and never had to reregister my nick, but now I use it infrequently and I've had to register my nick every time I connect to the server.

Yes, after a month of inactivity, nickserv will de-register your nick. You have no choice other than to register it again.

You have to go to "tools->options", and then find "DCC". There, you can set "on send request" to auto-get file. This will make it so that you automatically start reciving whatever the bot is sending you right away, without having to verify it. =)

I'm sorry, is there any way to not auto-get? to verify... because the only computer i've been using is a family computer & i'm afraid of viruses... ;_;

but still after i change the DCC into auto get, i still got the DCC pending message, even closing connection after 180s

Connection Timed Out is an error that has nothing to do with the program actually. It means that you can't connect to the server because of your connection. Maybe your internet connection is bad when you tried to connect to IRC or there's something wrong with the line itself.

Try to connect to different servers, although you actually just have to retry on IRCHighway since the servers are listed as "Random Servers", and you're indeed connected randomly. Also, are you using mIRC at school or college? Such institutions usually block IRC connections, resulting in the same error. You can also try different ports, but it's not advisable to do so.

You can also try JavaChat to see if you can get around it that way, I'm not sure about this part.

Try this:

• Connect to IRChighway and stay in the server window
• Type: /nick yournick
  Change 'yournick' to the name you wish to have
• Type: /msg NickServ REGISTER password
  Change 'password' to something individual

That's all.

For a test, close your client and open it again, then type:
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password

Instead of 'password' use the one you chose. That should identify you on the server. If that works, you can now set your client to do this automatically for you.

And after you're done, type:
/join #mangahelpers

Followed by:
/me hugs eni
