Ever since the appearance of Kaido theories have appeared about the possible/likely connection with the story of Momotaro.

For those who haven't yet seen this theory or are not familiar with the story here is the summary from Wikipedia:

According to the present form of the tale (dating to the Edo period), Momotarō came to Earth inside a giant peach which was found floating down a river, by an old, childless woman who was washing clothes there. The woman and her husband discovered the child when they tried to open the peach to eat it. The child explained that he had been sent by Heaven to be their son. The couple named him Momotarō, from momo (peach) and tarō (eldest son in the family).[1]

Years later, Momotarō left his parents to fight a band of marauding Oni (demons or ogres) on a distant island. En route, Momotarō met and befriended a talking dog, monkey and pheasant, who agreed to help him in his quest. At the island, Momotarō and his animal friends penetrated the demons' fort and beat the band of demons into surrendering. Momotarō and his new friends returned home with the demons' plundered treasure and the demon chief as a captive. Momotarō and his family lived comfortably from then on.

What the theory comes down to is that the Wa no Kuni arc will parallel the story of Momotaro.

In the OP version Momonosuke would be Momotaro and Kaido is the Oni.

As for the three companions I think it's safe to say that, if it would follow the same story, Luffy will most likely represent the monkey.

The leaves the pheasant and the dog.

I was very surprised by the announcement on Zou that Nekomamushi was going to look for Marco. Due to his DF I think he is the most likely candidate to represent the pheasant.

That leaves the dog, which is also the reason I decided to open this thread.

My personal opinion is that the dog might be:

- a whole new character as I can;t think of a suitable candidate that would complete a 'supertrio' of Luffy and Marco (unless it would be a character that was introduced before but only shown very briefly like Weevil).

- Eustass Kid. This is pure speculation without any proper proof or motivation and is based on the idea that as Luffy, Law and Kid fought together at the auction house they might fight together again and that the last time we saw Kid he was beaten up and held prisoner by Kaido which would imply the starwhats might encounter him in their fight with the Yonkou.

Some things I would like to get your opinion on:

- Do you agree with the theory?
- Who do you think would be the most suitable candidates for the monkey and pheasant besides Luffy and Marco?
- Who would represent the dog during the Wa no Kuni arc and why?

As unlikely as it can be, what if the Dog is already someone that we know? Like, Akainu for example?

Not saying that he would join hands with Marco and Luffy, but rather, help out in a different way like indirectly, or even directly send the forces of the Marines to Wa no Kuni as well.

For example to destroy ships or something like that. Even more so, if Doberman was sent and we got to see his "justice" which we don't know what it is yet.

BUT! As I was typing this I just thought of someone else - Garp.

When Garp was introduced in the anime, he was wearing a dog helmet.

But then again we also have Inuarashi which already is a dog haha.

Kid is meh and is bloody destroyed right now so I have no idea if he'd be of help.

What if they're talking about the RA. Monkey-dragon, SABO-pheasant and kuma-dog. Nah. I think a samurai from wano would represent the dog, luffy-monkey and yeah, Marco-pheasant.
