To fit the theme:

When in Rome do as Romans do.

There is a similar version in Arabic:
"اطلبوا العلم حتى ولو في الصين"
" atlubuu aleilm hataa walaw fi alsiyn"

Seek knowneldge, even all the way to China.

I (sadly) don't think we have such idioms in Moroccan dialect (darija) though (at least I can't think of any rn).
Oh nice! Maybe it's from Arabic root

@Lady pompom told me once, when a joke is bad Brazilians call it a „portuguese joke“.
Eeeh? Hidoi.

We don't really have Brazilian ones that I remember. We usually focus on roasting our Spanish nii-chans.

Greece time:

Vi-me grego (I saw myself/felt greek) -idiom used to show something was difficult/ with many obstacles.

O nice!
Here we have a saying in the states when someone's bday comes. We just say 'happy bday!' We dont differentiate with the categories or age. Very interesting.

In Poland we have a saying about Hungarians - Polish and Hungarian are two brothers, both for a fight and for a drink (Polak, Węgier dwa bratki, i to szabli i do szklanki). And Hungarians have the same saying in their language. It's a proof of ages of friendship between our nations :blush

There are many common quotes all over the world, and its hard to trace their roots really.

Egyptian sayings.

" على قد لحافك مد رجليك " - " Stretch your legs according to your blanket ."

Its meaning is, To avoid doing things that you can't do or afford, Do things within your limits.

Russian sayings.

" И на старуху бывает проруха " - " Even a grand mother make a mistake "

Meaning, Everyone make mistakes.

"… اتفق العرب على ألا يتفقوا"

means Arabs agree to disagree

its a joke about the state of the Arab world between each others, country or people
