I imagine the different levels of the Black Plate increase the amount of magic that can be stored, so that more powerful spells can be copied with higher levels. I suppose in theory that means that you could use the same absorbed spell more than once by not completely exhausting what you've copied the first time.

I read you need to clear all the 10 levels in order to receive Black Plate upgrade. So no many levels of Black. Thiser capacity should come from his MP.


So Taiga is only 1/5 of an average first year? First year = Red Iron? Or the bronze levels some of them are too?

If the MP relates to his size, then a RI would be 5 times higher, a Bronze 10 times, a Silver some 20 times... An excellent Third Year would be what? 30-40?

At 50 times, he'd only need to jump to grab the head.

I'm very sure they didn't tell Taiga the whole story.

The former principal was angry at him when he said the Black Plate didn't have much use to Third Years.

Nope, even if you only pass the first test you get a Black Plate.

What the former principal says is that a Black Plate is created by adding a layer of special magic to your Plate, but that the amount of this magic to be added depends on how many tests you can pass.

Sorry to bring in DnD mind into this but I think maybe the black card is like a Ring of Spell Storing. Ring of Spell Storing comes in levels and you could store spells of level equal the level of the ring. So perhaps the 10 levels in the challenge measures how much power the spells could be held or how many weaker ones. Or perhaps the card can only hold one spell ever and the 10 levels measures the power of the spells it can absorb which turns into which "card" it can absorb from.

But even if he gets spells he wont ever have any "original spells" and would just be a weaker copycat at best unless the principle or the professor "feed" powerful/different spells into the card to make it look like he isn't "copying". I was more interested in him receiving more training from that old man to develop Mo more.

It isn't exactly a story page but it's a page between chapters where they introduce a character with some background info

As an aside, anyone that's read the Xanth series should know Bink is the strongest magic user with his subtle immunity to magic.

i'm so glad someone else thought of this comparison! i love the xanth series

i immediately thought of bink when i was reading mx0 even though his situation is practically opposite from kuzumi. at the beginning, he seems to be the only one with no magical talent, but actually has the most powerful talent of all in that he can't be harmed by magic. everyone knows that he has a magician-level talent, but no one really knows what he can do. it's only through various seemingly "accidental" and lucky circumstances that he always walks away unscathed from every situation involving magic.

on the other hand everyone thinks kuzumi is the strongest magic user, but he is actually the only one who can't use it. he has a lot of lucky circumstances that help him as well, but he actually has to be more crafty than bink, who is automatically protected with no effort necessary (kind of like gaara and his sand).

ok, so actually talking about this topic, i like the idea of kuzumi becoming the ultimate anti-magic user. sounds kinda cool....in any case, i do agree that he will become exceptional in some way, as is typical of the shonen protagonist

Yes I think kuzumi doesn't want to fail and reach his goal.

He'll try to to climb the schools wall to find out something he missed. I wouldn't be suprised if he asked close friends/classmates to use magic on him while climbing to wall to train hindrances

Anyway, he'll show the former principal what he's worth

oh and I don't think it's a teacher but just a nurse/infirmary
