Discussion Naruto vs. Bleach vs. One Piece Poll

I voted OP. It's consistent, detailed drawing, unpredictable, likable main and SH crews, interesting plot and universe and top notch humor. And thank you amarilis for showing those collections. I almost died from goose bumps. OP really tease your emotion when it's time to get serious.

For me Naruto was the first of the three that I read. It was epic only after Land of Water arc (first mission). It raised a big moral question about what it means to be a ninja. As someone who dreams to be hokage I feel this is an important question for Naruto and I feel the manga will turn out great. However, it's not the case. I originally thought chuunin arc was great, until I found out 80% was ripped from HxH. I don't understand where Naruto is going now. He wants to be hokage but he's still a genin and only took two 3 missions. Why does he force someone to comeback? If my best friend wants to cut ties with me, I would let him decide but still accepts him if he comes back. Confusing power level and there is no real way to bench character's power. One day Naruto doesn't stand one second against Itachi the other day he defeated Pain (exhausted?) and stand at the top of the food chain. In second part the art really degrades from part I. It feels that the writer is tired from the series but editor pushed him to expand the story.

Some things are just a matter of taste... there’s no changing it... I read the three of them, but currently I’m only reading One Piece... I can see that most people left Bleach behind, so the dispute is kind of only between Naruto and one piece...

I would say the 3 have their merits, but I elect one piece...

I won’t talk about the themes that are used in the stories... I understand how one piece talks about politics and such and that helps building a great world for a setting... but sometimes you just want some good action and some laughter... I would say the storytelling is the first aspect to look at...

Bleach started off with a good pace, but lost it... and now you have characters who can move very fast, who appear to think fast, but nothing happens... I read someone saying how he/she gets to read it once a month so it doesn’t get boring... that’s a very important point... if you have a movie that lasts 3 hours but with a story that could and should be told in 1 and a half, lots of people get the feeling that something is wrong... and others will sleep XD I know some things must be told slowly to create tension and such, but not everything...

Naruto appeared to me as an interesting story... Who doesn’t love ninjas? XD
The main character had a goal, wich I find very important... And it was a great goal, so he would have a long way to go... I started to read it but I also stopped... I just couldn’t get focused... It’s hard to explain... The characters didn’t caught my attention, I didn’t get the laughter or the action I was expecting... And then I started to think that the characters were switching places... I’m going to be honest, I don’t remember everything that happened, I can get confused here... You have Sasuke taking the lead of the story, all the attentions turned to him, and Naruto’s goal, that was what moved the story was put aside... Even after I stopped reading, I hear people talking mostly about Sasuke, no one of my closest friends care about naruto at all... so if the story is meant to progress to the point when he gets to make his wish come true, I don’t know how it will end... but hey, I stopped reading naruto in its early stages just because I couldn’t concentrate in it...

I was a little reluctant to read One Piece in the start as I’m not all into pirates and such... but I gave it a try as gave naruto and bleach... and I was really dragged into the story... I like the way Oda-sensei tells it... You have a boy and his chilhood dream... The pace is good and the end of the chapter is well thought, as to leave something intriguing for the readers to wait... it’s something all skilled writers do, as it will garantee that your readers willl be there next time... When you have characters getting back to the main plot you really have the impression it was all thought before hand, as to why he was there in the first place? And I just got attached to the characters, wanting to know their life stories and such... Even when you have the attention turned to another character, you still have Luffy’s desire of being the pirate king working behind the scenes... I know all the things about friendship and that you want to protect your companions that are involved, but I think your personal goals are behind that too... So as it was the only one I kept reading and really liking, my vote goes to One Piece...

As of the art... I know that is important too, since we are talking about getting drawings to show emotions, actions, and so on... I like Kubo’s designs for the characters... his drawings are good in a great part, again, for the characters... as other people talked about the backgrounds being left aside I agree with that... and I also think the panels lack vivacity... I don’t know how to explain this... it’s as the artist of Death Note (my god I can’t remember the name >_<) said, it’s important to design a page that has movement, that is not estactic, and so they decided to put L playing with candy and Near with his toys so that something was happening, because it had a lot of talk and little action... and bleach ends up with little talking and little action for me... Kishi’s designs are not that good but they are ok... I just can’t really feel the life in the characters, even though they move right, the action is well shown, their expressions, for me, lack something... For Oda, I really like how he uses perspective in a different way... it was the first manga in wich I saw that... Sometimes it gets confusing, because you have too much things happening, but I understand the chaos in some parts... and some situations that are stupid need to look stupid and I find that funny XD

One Piece - each one of the Strawhats has his own goal, which will get fullfilled at some point of the story.
So much themes; politics, discremination, corruption, dream, freedom, etc. as someone said. All the mysterious elements in this story are all tied together; One Piece, Raftel, the Rio Poneglyph, the Void Century, the true history, the secrets of the World Government.
Compare that to Naruto. Madara's face? Zetsu's identity? Kushina's whereabouts? Those are pretty much the mysteries that people want to find out.
I won't even talk about Bleach.

Doing training arcs isn't Oda's style, and to be honest, it's good that he isn't doing them.
Luffy needs a power up, so the only solution is time skip. We know that he'll control his Haki, so doing a training arc to show us how he controls it isn't necessary. He has Hancock to train him. It's not like Oda won't explain us how exactly Haki works, he will.

What's the point? He can't just find them. They all have Rayleigh's Vivre Card, so traveling around the world looking for the Strawhats is retarded. He can't find them. And the anime shows us pretty much everything they're doing. While Oda might not written the material, he approved it. And again, just like with Luffy, he won't show us the Strawhats doing actually training (since we always see Zoro train on the ship).

they got their arc's(title pages of chapters), and the next week comes filler episodes with the rest of mugiwaras(i presume that this is the second set of filler episodes of three that are about the rest of mugiwaras)

I watched One Piece just when it started, but then I forgot about it for a while. I started with Naruto, then discovered Bleach and only after a while I rediscovered One Piece. And damn it is really a great story. I voted for it.

One Piece, for some reason is really divisive among international fans. Some, like me, swear by it, but there will always be a lot who are turned off by the art or the length or whatever. For those who aren't a fan, be warned: criticizing One Piece is a good way to turn the most reasonable person into a fanboy/fangirl. I turn into one every time

Naruto manga is my favorite. One piece anime is the best and poor Bleach died a long time ago.

One piece is a masterpiece, but it doesn't have a great impact on me because of the first part of the manga. (no one dies, people flying in the air after getting their asses kicked and alot of stuff that doesnt seem serious to me).
Naruto was the first manga I started reading. I think being the first is what makes it my favorite :P (first love lol)

in my opinion OP wins simply because of the humor. Sometimes i read it and i wonder how Oda could think of this sh*t.
Fruit that gives people super powers?
A swordsman that fights using three swords by carrying one in his mouth?
A reindeer that turned human by eating the hito-hito no mi (the human-human fruit)?
A speedo-wearing, soda-powered cyborg that remodeled his own body except the back because he couldn't reach there? (not to mention his centaur-mode)
or a walking skeleton with an afro (becuase he has strong roots) thats afraid of ghosts and zombies?
villains that forget to breathe, or turn into giraffes, or look like giant leeks, or are dressed up as clowns, or has to spend most of his day on the pot to pee out his own poison-poison abilities?
the okama way?
Or finally any one of the thousands of jokes or situations or characters that I've failed to mention so far simply becuase there are too many?

Naruto has some good points. Bleach has some good points. But neither comes even close when it comes to combining psychodelic induced wacky-ness with serious plot and in-depth and relevant character development. Not to mention sprinkled throughout all of this is references to real-world problems (like pollution and social desparity between the rich and poor), which i won't get into right now.
And as you read the manga you get this sense that even if the main characters have separate goals now, they would fight and die to make the others' come true, and that somehow if one reaches his goal then they all reach their goals. I have no doubt that by the time this ends (in another 10 years and 500+ chapters) the Straw Hat crew will reach their goals all at the same time, becuase they are linked therefore their goals will be linked as well.

The judges have ruled: One Piece for the win.

That said OP isn't my favorite manga. For that its a toss up between History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (favorite shounen) or Until Death Do Us Part (favorite seinen).

i loved naruto in the beginning but, it sorta died for me after itachi v sasuke. Sure its picked up now from everything with the 4th but than died right after for me. I mean cmon "All i saw was a yellow flash" thats kinda retarded to me.
When i first started reading one piece it was because their was no naruto chapter; after 2 hrs i couldnt stop reading. i was probably up till 2 am reading it without even realizing. the plot, humor, characters, setting, are all well balanced and good; and after 500+ chapters it has yet to disappoint me.

why??

First of all, i LOVED Naruto. It was the only one i saw at the time. Then when bleach came along, i had to agree that bleach was AWESOME when it was only the soul society arc.This put Bleach ahead of Naruto for me a little. After a while i started disliking bleach. It's whole plot felt ruined to me because Ichigo's random ass power-up hella pissed me off. Out of no where you see ichigo getting stronger in fights and suddenly own the enemy! Only thing i see now is, OOOOO pretty art.....

For Naruto, i still like naruto, but i've been having less and less respect for it.. I love thrilling and shocking animes. I especially care about how the storyline is. Apparently, Naruto has not been shocking me, it has not been thrilling at all, and the storyline is not THAT good anymore.. Now what i see is, Ehh better than nothing

NOW for my UTMOST FAVORITE MANGA/ANIME, ONE PIECE (SCREAMS). omg i really cant say anything bad about this because i LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! It has every good quality of what i see in a EXCELLENT manga/anime. Some people think "OH one piece has ugly animation/art!" YOU KIDDING!? I LOVE IT! why? 1)simple and i don't need pretty drawings to impress me of my perfect image of an awesome manga. 2)As the time when on I learned how to adapt adapt to the drawing and fell in love with it (that is why i love luffy! SOOO CUTE <3. And YES luffy is my favorite character of all time!) and 3)SORRY I CAN GO ON COMPLIMENTING ONE PIECE, but there is just TOO much to say.. I LOVE ONE PIECE AND THAT'S FOR A FACT! <3 love the emotions i get, the storyline, love the shocks and surprises, etc... THE ONLY ONE THING I HATE HATE HATE is waiting for one of the best mangas in my life to come out each week! come on! who doesn't xD!

Oh, I beg to differ. I once read that Japanese ppl <especially girls/women> don't like a&m franchise at all. Saying "where ppl" seems like "all ppl" in Japan, which is not true. There's everywhere like that, even in Japan.

Even if I went as far as to use the internet as a source of weighing the opinions of international fans, we see the same trend. Naruto is more viewed and has a much higher readership (OneManga, MAL, Mangafox, etc.), but One Piece is rated much higher on virtually every site, is favorited by a larger percentage of its readers, and in general is better received as a quality shounen manga.
