The Manga starts in Las Vegas, where a man is playing and winning lots of money because he’s having a winning streak, but then, all of the sudden an acquaintance of this man appears and makes him get nervous for some reason. We’ll leave at this point for now.
We now skip 20 years from those events to introduce the 19 year old protagonist of the story, who’s currently going to check his grades in the school billboard, only to find that he didn’t pass. He phones to his home to tell his family about the bad news and they ask him what he’s going to do either stay in school or find a work, he answers them by saying that he will think about it and hangs the phone.
He then returns to his home, depressed, and decides to take a shower. While he’s showering a friend calls him to go so he can cheer up.
They bypass a casino and his friend, who is kind of into gambling, convinces him to go in. They play in the slot machines, roulettes, etc. When they were about to broke they decide to leave.
Shortly after leaving the casino they meet an old bum who offers them to play a game of gamble, in which there are 3 poker cards, the bum has to shuffle them and then they have to guess where the Ace is. The first match they loose and then play 3 more matches because they had lost all of their money. When the last match was over the protagonist asks the bum to let him see the 3 cards and then finds out that there was never an Ace among them, but when he found out, the bum was already gone.
One week later, the friend of the protagonist tells him about a reunion, in which there will be poker games, and is interested in going because he knows the basics and wants to give it a shot, and asks to the protagonist to with him, offering to teach him what he knows. After many failed attempts he convinces him to go (in between the attempts there will be a basic explanation on how to play poker).
They arrive at the bar where there are poker matches in several tables. They buy some drinks and the friend of the protagonist plays some matches and loses. Then he asks the protagonist to play too. In the middle of the match, out of nowhere the bum that tricked the protagonist and his friend reappears and tells the protagonist not to retire, that he has a good hand to keep betting, and in the end he wins the match.
After that the bum challenger the best local poker player that’s in the bar, he laughs at him but accepts the challenge. The bum bets all the money he won from the protagonist before and ends up winning. The now humiliated best local poker player couldn’t believe that he lost to some bum and sends his guards to beat the bum and kick him out of the bar.
The bum ends up unconscious in the street, and the protagonist says that he will take him to his apartment to treat his wounds, when the bum wakes up he introduces himself talks with the protagonist a little and tells him that he has talent to play poker and proposes to teach play poker to be the best poker player in history but with the condition that he lets him live in his house and the 70% of his earnings goes to him.
