Well, normally I piece these things together, but this time I'm totally stumped. Here's the right side of the spread, and here's the left. Opening them up in an editor it's obvious the two are supposed to be viewed together, and while I already know how I would go about it, the background is throwing off my plans a bit. Sure, I could move the window around, but I'm wondering what the author was thinking here. Well, to rephrase that.. I know there are artists who draw half of the spread on one page, half on another, so they don't match up and need a good deal of redrawing to make sense. But in this case, the windows match up perfectly (although not so much after I cropped and rotated them) but the rest of the image doesn't. For instance, the arm cuts off and the sofa is a good deal lower than it should be on one end.

So what would you guys do in this situation? Should I suck it up and redraw anyway? Or should I just place a bar between the images or something similar? Wait, does anyone even do that anymore!? In any case, I'm leaning a little toward the latter, but I'm not really sure what the response would be to this kind of thing. I know I don't mind it, but I can't speak for everyone... Phew, my apologies, that was far longer than I'd intended. OTL

Unless you feel the need to redraw all that was probably never there in the first place (Just from looking at the two images, there's probably a full 3-4 inches gone.), just place a bar in the middle.

I'd do something like this:

It's cheating since you'd have to changes and add stuff that's not there normally, but if you do it good no one will know and it doesn't change the meaning of the manga. On the arm of the guy with the book, maybe do something like on the left where there's a similar situation, but there's a little glowing rim of texture for a border. Also that white glow around the characters is nice for aligning any background stuff.

Too missing parts..... As tip, I can suggest you to find the raw magazine in which this manga is published (because from the deifintion of the image and its cleanliness I presume is a tankobon) and from that reconstruct the missing parts (firstly for the hand, because the other are easy cloneble)

PS: Sorry for my english

Thanks for the help, everyone. So, I gave it a shot, and while the background was quite easy (aside from those stupid round parts of the window, but hey, come on, they're lopsided anyway), I just couldn't get the hand right. Gah, I just can't-draw-hands! So it looks like I'll be stuck doing the bar anyway. Just a note though, that I've done this artists' stuff out of magazines before, but most of the time she leaves some inexplicable gap between the pages, which I find strange because from time to time she'll do one that actually fits together. I guess she's just fickle =P
