So we got a sequel that takes place before the next school year. What would happen if the series continued into Kaidoh-buchou's year? Do you guys think the school ranks would be even close to what they were now? What school would be the next top tier school to watch out for?

Most of the school's best players were third year players, so wtf would happen? Discuss.

We know that Konomi can create new uber characters, were just saying based on what they are left with some teams are screwed.

And none of the Seigaku second years (Excluding momo and mamushi) aside from Arai are worth a damn.

I think it is too early to say that any team is screwed. Look at Taka and Hiyoshi. They didn't even become regulars until this year. There are certain to be characters we haven't been introduced to/characters we already know with the potential to improve.

Most likely, but as i said..as things STAND, Fudomine has the best chance, they have a lot of their regular who have National level experience

I agree. If we only look at the returning regular members, Fudoumine has the upperhand, but then again look at Rikkai. All that National experience didn't pan out for them afterall.

If I remember correctly, the only reason why Rikkaidai was to be feared was the three demons. I don't remember reading/seeing much of Rikkai's past before they joined the school. Also, we all forgot about Yamabuki. I don't know if this was in the manga or not since I didn't start reading until Nationals, but I remember Nanjirou saying how Yamabuki was crazy even during his era.

Actually Rikkai had a pretty good reputation

The 3 demons brought them 2 national championships

But when it came to kanto i believe they were the champions for 15 straight years

Also, we all forgot about Yamabuki. I don't know if this was in the manga or not since I didn't start reading until Nationals, but I remember Nanjirou saying how Yamabuki was crazy even during his era.

It wasn't Yamabuki, it was just the guy whos in charge of Yamabuki who Nanjiro is peed off with as Nanjiro was with a first seed Seigaku back in his days and it was Ryuzaki coach who said Seigaku had trouble beating Rokkaku (in that case Seigaku must be really bad or Rokkaku was amazing)

IF Echizen comes back, I can see Seigaku do well. I dont see much promise in the Freshmen trios or their subs, notably Arai. Fudomine would do well, but their front killer and his partner would just be classified as National Level, who although both won the First Round in the Nationals, lost to Makinofuji...EVEN if they were last years runner up. They should do well.

Hyoutei...somehow I don't see much in Ootori, who although has a super serve, lost to Hiyoshi, who doesn't stand up much either. Kabajii...how would he deal without Atobe? They do have over 100 pre regulars though...all got owned by Davide haha...

Rikkai... they only have Akaya as far as I know, and that isn't really enough. But since they won Kantou for past 15 years, they must have a good squad either way...?

Rokkaku will make it to the Nationals, HigaChuu looks like they're screwed without Kite threatening them without Gouyu, Midoriyama sucks, as does St Rudolph, And Shitenhoujii should do well with Kintarou and Zaizen...

I am not sure if I want a sequel , it would be sad (I think I'd prefer to see the best of seigaku, rikkaidai and hyotei playing in High School together xD)

Yeah, you're all right. Rikkai is totally screwed. They only have Akaya... At least Hyotei have both Shishido and Hiyoshi, and their methods are strong so I suppose rookies might be good. Seigaku.. mm... I hope they get better rookies than Horio and their friends... and Arai, please...

Well, if we would really see things as they are now, I think Seigaku still will be the better team. The only thing that would make them weak will be omitting Echizen which is so unlikely. That US OPEN thing is not canon. So Echizen will stay in Seigaku in his second year.

Rikkai. C'mon. It's not just Akaya. They got Urayama.

So it would be Urayama vs Dan vs Horio. Now, I want this. XD

Urayama isnt in the anime.
I hope they do an ANOTHER STORY OVA and have Urayama be brought into the Part I anime.

I mean Seigaku = Echizen, Momo, Kaido, Arai
Fudomine = Kamio, Ibu, Ishida, Sakurai, forgot the rest...
RikkaiDai = Kirihara, Likely to be Urayama
Yamabuki = Muramochi, Dan, that funny hairstyle guy
Shitenhouji = Zaizen and Tooyama.
Rokkaku = Amane, Aoi

I mean, tezuka's year is FAR more talented than any other year shown in this series.
So a tournament next year wont be as exciting.

Fudomine would definitely be the deepest team, although Momoshiro + Kaidoh + Ryoma would pretty much an instant three wins in singles against almost any team. That's if Ryoma returned to Seigaku, obviously. Teams like Seigaku, Rikkaidai, Hyoutei and Rokkaku have strong traditions and large squads, so I'm sure they'd develop some talented new players (and isn't Kaidoh's brother one year younger than Ryoma? So he could be on the team next year), and Bandai is shrewd enough to set up Yamabuki pretty well.

In the latest fanbook, Kirihara is confirmed to be the next captain.
Even though we knew it was gonna happen, im glad the author confirmed it.
He also included a comment from Urayama Shiita.(Rikkai Freshman)
Implying that he will appear somewhat more I reckon.

Uh not really. PP comments basically came from those who are close or have had some connections with the featured player. Urayama gave a comment because he came from Rikkai.

And I only really see him as a Rikkai counterpart to Dan. They might improve but I don't think he'll be an important character. Notice how they were slashed after appearing in some chapters in Shin? Yay.

Fair enough, but in the anime in Dan VS Echizen Dan showed promise despite the mopping 6-0 scoreline to Echizen.
Surely there is a reason why Konomi had included Urayama in New Prince of Tennis.
Do you think its purely comic relief like Horio?

That was from the anime. Purely non-canon. Dan could be a decent player but not at this point.

If Urayama would ever be an important character, then, he should have had some moments already. But there's none. I honestly don't think the character is really needed. He's a first year and I think Ryoma and Kin-chan are the only rookies who would really be focused here to established more their rivalry.
