I don't think it's going to take them 30 years to add an 18th game honestly, they've been wanting to get to that point for a long time. I'd be shocked if it isn't a thing by 2025.

So we end up only getting 2 preseason games, every team is injury-riddled because there's less time to get in football shape, even more talented undrafted players fall through the cracks due to having less opportunity to get their play on film.

But of course the NFLPA won't be able to do anything about it despite how fucking awful the idea is.

Is it what you want to see? No, it's not. Not going to help them win games either. But you're watching football not golf. Unnecessary roughness happens. Those are two fine examples of it.

Like any Ravens fan, I despised Hines Ward... but I don't really recall him doing shit like that. I hated him for what he did between the whistles and sidelines. I didn't need any extra-curricular stuff to feel that way. The brand we see in my above post is beyond the pale IMO. Maybe it was a different time and wasn't all over Twitter in 10 seconds, but idk. Hard hits when the rules were different just aren't the same to me. Unnecessary roughness typically doesn't include punching/choking people or trying to decapitate them.

It's possible I'm being melodramatic, but I can't ignore a trend. Okay maybe it's also MOSTLY Watt, but the way he's fawned over recently despite playing like a piece of shit ever since that game against us in 2019 when RG3 beat them, tons of late hits going uncalled. I guess it's that kind of shit as well as never being called for it that makes it worse to me.

In the interest of being fair, Aaron Donald is a lot of the same shit as well, we just don't see him as often I guess. How tf do you choke someone right in front of a ref, the said ref even breaks it up but no flag is thrown?

We had no business winning that game. They flashed up some crazy stat that teams that throw 4 INT are 0-52 since 1960. Might have been our best defensive performance of the year, but Baker Mayfield shouldn't be playing IMO, he looks inept.

I just think you're letting twitter get you all excited over basically nothing. They're fouls. And I'm with you on the fact that this should be flagged. Whether it's my team or another team. Those are all 15 yarders. They are penalties and should be enforced. It's just bad play.

The Hayward "punch" thing is pretty silly to me, to be honest. If he has his hand open when he does what he does there. You call it a push and nobody would care. He didn't so it was technically a punch and you're not allowed to do that. Especially after the play. But it wasn't something that was going to hurt anybody. He was pushing that other player back. That's just making a mountain out of a mole hill, IMO. Which is twitter's specialty.

The choke was the worst one for sure but honestly shit happens in football. It deserves a flag. Not sure if it deserves anything more. In slow motion it looks bad but in real speed. I don't know. Definitely a personal foul though.

And Hines Ward was extremely dirty. He's usually voted one of the dirtiest players of all time for good reason. So is Ray Lewis. Though I always thought Suggs and Clark were worse. Mainly because Suggs was always trying to cripple people around the knees. And Clark was like an artist of knocking receivers unconscious. This was after concussions thing came out too. The game has changed but not as much as the NFL likes to pretend.

That's football though. It's not a nice game where everybody playing it is Mr Rodgers. I don't like seeing that stuff any more than you do but I think you are being fairly meledramatic about the how awful/unusual all this is.

Sadly, you're probably going to see more of it from the Steelers since they will continue to get blown out. Because they have a bad line, a QB that's too old, a #1 receiver that's out for the season, and a defense that's getting increasingly tired/frustrated/sloppy. There are lots of people to blame for this Tomlin is one, for the lack of discipline and sloppy play. Kevin Colbert is another, who is set the Steelers up to fail this year with the QB and line situation. But at the end of the day this is pretty normal football stuff.

And it's something not only fans of other teams in the AFCN agree upon, it seems to be recognized by fans across the NFL as well.

Everybody always says that about the teams they don't like. There have been so many uncalled fouls, holds, and pass interference calls over the years. Or calls in which the foul didn't happen. That's just NFL officiating at work. It's always a coin flip.

This year I'll grant that for once it's worked in our favor more than it hasn't. Especially during that Lions game. The Lions win that game if the Refs don't call just a terrible game. Still we're sort of owed it for the literal hundreds of roughing the passer calls Roethlisberger never got over the years.

I don't disagree but as I fan of the opposing team it was a wonderful moment.

Think about it this way, my team is not making the playoffs. No matter how many times Romo tried to tease that they "could". Maybe that was Harbaughs version of a Christmas present. I guess given the context with Humphrey getting hurt on the last play of the last defensive series, going for 2 makes more sense. Might have been different if Westry wasn't inactive, who knows.

Hope DeCosta can work some sort of magic and get something worth a shit off the street, because relying on Anthony Averett to be your CB1 or Jimmy Smith to play like he's 10 years younger means the season is pretty much over in my eyes. If you told any Ravens fan that we lost two CBs for the year and that they weren't Jimmy Smith and Tavon Young, they'd never believe you. Davante Adams is going to torch us.

They're examined by doctors, so I don't know how they would fake anything. Even if a player is no longer injuried there are other exempt lists then can be added to anyways.

No question the Ravens would be a different team right now without all these injuries. The injuries list just a nightmare. Sort of a tribute to Harbaugh actually that despite it all he's done as well as he has keeping this team as good as he has. They've avoided the worst case scenario on offense since Lemar has stayed relatively healthy. But everything else that could go wrong pretty much has.

Are injuries difficult to fake?

Lie on the field saying your back or neck hurts. Then get up and say you're ok, you only had the wind knocked out of you.

Good if dirty way to gain an unofficial timeout. Or to give your team extra time to rest if they're fading.

They could claim dizziness or lightheadedness and go through concussion protocols with a negative result.

Doctors would never know the difference.
