Kishi has great character development skills imo. Although even Karin had some background and flashbacks while she and Team Hebi weren't even originally wanted by Kishi, according to an interview.
Which reminds me...Kishi gives Ten-Ten no love! I had t read a data book to first find out she was a weapons master. The only cannon episode I've seen her relay her weapon mastery was in SHIPPUDEN against a clone of herself...lmao whack. (Although my memory fails me at times.)
She has no flashbacks, no story, no background really, not even a clan name. Her only motivation at any time was just when she saw Lee work hard.
There's a running joke between me and my friends, that whenever someone says something of little importance or just a filler comment we call that a "Ten-Ten". Like for example.
Guy A: blah blah blah blah blah
Guy B: blah blah blah
Guy A: blah blah!
Ten-Ten: yeah!
Hell at the last filler of the Naruto Part I series, where Konoha rookies and the Sand rookies fight together...Ten-Ten was the only missing one...she even says it at the end. She wasn't even on a secret mission like Shino is when he misses out.
In conclusion, I believe Kishi gives Ten-Ten no love..simply because she's chinese and resembles Chun-Li, being the only one wearing a chinese attire the whole anime and even casually at the chuunin exams.
(P.s. I am aware that Gai's team has a chinese feel, Rock "Lee" and Neji's fighting style, but there's no mistake Ten-Ten IS chinese.)
