Discussion NPOT Plot threads that went no where

What was your most disappointing moment with NPOT where they hyped up a character, team, match, plot thread etc that ultimately went no where ? I have a few right off the top of my head.

• How they hyped up the genius 11-20 and they ended up getting beat owned by the middle schoolers to never be seen again practically
• How they dedicated an entire chapter to the Japan team trying to convince the coach to let Duke play the french captain only for team japan to win before it even got to singles one which made that build up useless
• Ryoma having a change of heart out of nowhere to rejoin team japan, honestly I feel he should have stayed on team america and be an antagonist. It's not like hes getting much attention after he switched
• How they hyped up team Switzerland only for them to lose early, like really?
• U-17 ranked # 5 Kaji...need I say more?
• This build up that Oni and akutsu would have a deep relationship/match, never happened
• Omagari in general, hes apart of the genius 10 and he has only played 2 matches in the entire series. One of which was almost off screened "against Switzerland I believe in round Robin" hes mostly forgotten now, I would have liked to see more of him and this relationship with akutsu they were teasing.
• Team america lossing the way they did, I feel they should have been the Japan's opponent in the finals
• Ryoga switching teams to Spain was....stupid. i have no idea why this had to happen or how it makes sense in the story. And his skill is ridiculously broken and stupid.

That's all I can think of for now

I dislike how they treat 1st court and 2nd court.

The 3rd court contains shit ton of monsters that was equal to even the high tier middle schooler at the beginning of the series.

2nd court got wipe out completely by characters that was widely consider as mid to low tier.

1st court goes absolutely nowhere beside Kazuya although they technically should be the closest to 1st stringer.

These dominating middle schoolers have never heard of or played vs the G10 in their careers.

Lol. Like wtf do they do. Do they not follow any other tennis leagues/matches. I only say this because it feels so inconsistent with Yukimura bringing Rikkai into the golden age, Tezuka beating all his seniors, etc. But all of a sudden those seniors were all just pieces of trash. I guess Japan skipped two years or something.

1. well 11-20 they weren't in story that much and since this is still NPOT I think this makes it more Hser's than Mser's and the fact this is golden age! so they are very interesting and with a little help they bcame more intrested and the fact using them makes story complicated and maybe bad... However story alreday told and to me make sense if they're not part of it.

2. good question and A: simply they knew it. I mean 3 coaches are not just for fun. they here to analysis all countries so they are realize what they doing so the players too with all possibility but they werent sure that S1 would happend or not, they just simply considered Duke as a S1. because more than anyone he wanted to face Camus. this determination of Duke is enough to put him above Byo in S1.

3. Ryoma is a samurai and he is alwyas loyal to his homeland. that time, all he wanted to beat Byo but then he realize what is he really seeking.

4. Japan didn't go full force against Switzerland and why they would do that? I mean if byo steped up and play vs Amadeus other countries analysis his game and Second: we as a reader probaby lost our hype for him as well, but as I said before all was planned to make Mser's better.

5. He lose vs Oni short and simple and then after Oni vs QP he replace him again. he is lost his place that's why! more to say?

6. two things that matter! characters and story to me Top Hser's (1-5) are need to shown than any Hser's and Mser's (most of all + Prince) so, the way story is going, I think kind of make sense that we see less of 6-10 However I feel they have more to do in final (Omaigari and Ochi more likely) but it depends they're partner and have some feeling that two Mser's paly double too.

7. Us of A? no! why? two reason: they were more protagonist than antagonist! Spain is the one! they wins all game 3-0 and their captain along D1 are like this ::

8. Ryoga? well he is Ronin so he can do whatever he wants and about his ability and persnality just wait a little bit more.

9. Oni vs Monster, is bout the disiere you know, first he wants to settle with prince then Sanada's offer was more important to him that's why things turn (he didn't care to play agains Oni) always remember character's intention too! and then Oni become stronger like Kin-chan[Oni/Kintaro story worth to read] (they both are blessed as a giver) in the ohter hand now Monster had more desire to play tennis which makes him with (Ryoma's curse and blessing words) to go another level and fight vs pro he ended up with his full potential. that's not bad

1- The existence of the 11-20 players was only an excuse to show how the middle school players increased their level, and narrowed the gap with the high school players.
2- I agree, the Duke game was a missed opportunity. But perhaps Konomi decided to omit it, to surprise in the semifinal, the style of Camus, with the illusion of Niou.
3- In this I do agree completely. The whole Ryoma business as an adversary, and then going back to Japan, was ridiculous.
4- A great disappointment about Switzerland. It would have been more significant for Switzerland to lose in the semi against Spain. Since we had it as a much more powerful team than the US. And that the team that managed to beat Japan loses, creates more hype with the final boss (Spain).
5- The thing about Kaji, does not interest me too much. There is nothing to object to Oni for him to take that place. Nobody believes that Kaji is bad, but Oni is understood to be better.
6- I really expected that in the games against the G10, Akutsu would play against Oni. I even think Konomi had it that way originally, but I don't understand what made him regret it. Agree with you on this point.
7- Ohmagari ... I don't want to rush, he can still get to play in the final. If he doesn't, I will agree that his existence is meaningless in the series.
8- On the USA team, they can still have a bit of prominence in the game for third place (if there is one).
9- About Ryoga coming to Spain, we still don't know almost anything about the character, nor his motivations. Although at the moment, his decisions seems stupid, and I do not see much sense. We will see later what explanation Konomi gives us.



Some other things that don't make sense or go nowhere.
• Court 1 that was going to play against the G10 team of Japan ... Only Tokugawa was the only one worth it there?
• What merits could Nakagauchi have shown to be part of the team?
• What did they take Marui, Hakamada, Date, Kaji to? ... Or what was the goal of bringing Sengoku back? When it is obvious that you have no chance to play. I will always maintain that the match against Aramenoma was a missed opportunity to make all these characters play, and thus their presence would be justified.

Aramenoma itself was just stupid and point less lol.

Omg I TOTALLY forgot about these clowns! Lol they had slight buildup and ended up getting one shot by ryoma single handedly. The most memorable thing about those chapters were how badly drawn they were because the rough drafts were released early I think

Hmmm, actually I feel they weren't heavy handed with suggesting fuji would play tezuka again. They have already played a bunch of times and its implied tezuka is well above fuji now so a match with those 2 wouldnt be all that great. They used up all the drama of that match up back in the nationals when it was fuji vs niou

I feel the Switzerland Vs USA was already discussed here numerous times.

We all know that USA lineup is favored against Swiss that match.

D2: Dodo/MS Vs Tatsuta/MS

I guess Dodo was the difference here

D1. MS/MS Vs Randy/Albert

Swiss power doubles easily won this

S3: Kiko Vs Henry(MS)

Kiko dominated him

S2: Alan Vs Peter

I feel Peter could have won this if he is not injured/prev injury.

S1: Ralph Vs Amadeus

Ralph is slightly stronger

I feel USA and Swiss can beat each other depending on their lineups(BTW, they do not know who will play for the opposing team right?)

BUT REMEMBER, Swiss also lost to Australia 2-3 because of noah. Granted, they didn't go full force, but still.

Swiss was hyped with Amadeus and they beating Japan. Then Konomi Hyped them again with Tatsuta(who is described as in the same level of amadeus)

Only to be dominated by USA. Then USA being dominated by Spain.

Anyway, Spain is hyped too. I feel only Germany and Spain has lived up to the hype
