One Piece Chapter 798- Heart
Law and Sengoku bond over Rosinante.
Law and Sengoku bond over Rosinante.
After reuniting Rebecca with her father Kyros, all that remained for Luffy and his allies was to set sail, as the Marines have decided to arrest all of them. But it seems Luffy wasn’t the only one who still had some business on the island. After learning that Sengoku is currently there, Law decided to go meet him. And of course the subject of the conversation is none other than Rosinante, who counted in the life of the two men. Sengoku realizes that the young boy with white lead syndrome that Rosinante was trying to help is in fact Law. We learn that Rosinante was like a son for him, and thus held a special place in his heart. In fact he is shown crying when he learned the news about Rosinante’s death on Minion. This sheds a new light on Sengoku’s character, whom some might not especially liked at the Summit war due to his actions back then. Now we learn that he viewed Rosinante as his son, which imo makes his character more likable.
While Sengoku talks about Rosinante and tries to learn why he died, Law explains that all of his actions have led him to try to take revenge on Doflamingo, for killing Rosinante. But he wonders if that would make him the kind of D Rosinante wanted him to be. Law seems to be more concerned about Rosi’s words about the D being God’s natural enemy and outright asks Sengoku if he knows something about D. He doesn’t answer his questions, although I have a feeling he knows a good deal about D, especially if it turns out they are related to the Ancient Kingdom. But he reveals that in the end Rosinante might not have known a lot about D , and thus that the reason why he saved Law couldn’t be because of his name but because he loved him sincerely.
Law was so worked up with the D and taking revenge on Doflamingo that he could have overlooked that fact, despite the latter expressing his love to him.Sengoku urges the young pirate to not sully his love for him with such thoughts, instead they should both remember him and never forget about him, but they should also be able to move on. That would be something Rosinante would have wanted for both of them.
With this it seems that Law and Rosinante’s story is given a closure. Thanks to Sengoku, who was also mourning Rosinante, Law was able to realize the reasons behind Rosinante’s actions, and hopefully he should be able to move on and be completely free as the latter would have wanted. I always felt that Law was shackled by his past, and that he was unable to move on. All those years he sought revenge by having Doflamingo killed, instead of being free like Rosinante wanted. I’m glad for both Law and Sengoku that they got to bond over Rosinante, despite their differences.
As exepected, the Tontatta target the Marines in order to help the SHs and their allies.
As the Marines send for reinforcements, it seems that something is off. All the weapons and ammunitions disappeared, and this kind of occurrence isn’t too strange to us. Indeed like some have expected, it was the doing of “fairies”, or the dwarves to be more precise. They decided to help their saviors, the pirates, by stopping the reinforcements. Leo is even seen having sewn together Marine ships, which imo makes his fruit a lot more useful since it can sew everything even metal. With this the Marines aren’t able to get reinforcements to the East port, where the pirates are supposed to sail from. However Fujitora steps in and in an action that is nothing short of spectacular, he’s able to lift all the rubble on the island up in the air thanks to his gravity abilities, and plans to use them as projectile against the pirates at the East port.
Fujitora displays the full extent of his power, impressive.
Fujitora is a beast, that’s the first word I thought of while seeing these events unfold. Not only is he powerful, but he is pretty determined to stop the pirates. In terms of character he’s pretty close to what Aokiji was, but it’s nice to see that despite not wanting to go after the pirates at first, because they saved Dressrosa which shows that he has a sense of honor, he still wants to do his job as a Marine by going after the pirates. This also makes me excited about learning about the last Admiral, Ryokugyu, who is supposed to be a beast just like Fujitora.
Luffy vs Fujitora, now that's a fight I'm looking forward to see.
Law joins the others and urges everyone to prepare to set sail, while Luffy is still running towards his allies. He encounters Fujitora and witnesses him using his powers. Instead of just ignoring him like Barto asks him to, Luffy suddenly punches the Admiral with his Elephant Gun , to everyone’s surprise.Fujitora doesn’t seem too affected by the punch. Luffy declares he is tired of running, against the Admirals and the Yonko, and that he can’t become the pirate king if he doesn’t beat all those guys.
While it may be premature for Luffy to face an Admiral, especially if we consider that he might not have completely recovered from his battle against Doflamingo, it seems he has some legit reasons to fight Fujitora. Like he said he can’t continue to run against these guys, and this reminded me of the events in Sabaody when Kizaru targeted the Supernovas, and the SHs in particular. Back then they were completely powerless, and this is prolly something Luffy is worried about. He decided to wait 2 years before entering the New world for that very reason, because he wanted to become stronger not just for himself, but also to be able to protect his nakama. As for Fujitora he also has valid reasons to catch the pirates, and more importantly Luffy and Law, or else he can’t set foot in a Marine base. We can debate whether Luffy is at Admiral level right now or not, and if what we’re going to get is a full fight, or just a skirmish before one of them steps down, but it does look like the stage is set for the two to face each other in a fight. And if Zoro can challenge an Admiral, then his captain should be able to do the same.
I’m looking forward to this fight for many reasons. I really think that since Luffy is stronger it makes perfect sense that he would face stronger opponents, even an Admiral, sooner or later. As for how things will go, we can’t be sure of the outcome, but I for once am interested in seeing Fujitora go all out, like he said a few chapters ago. We still don’t know his ability, we can guess it’s related to gravity, but for example we can’t determine if he ate the fruit himself, or it was his sword, as seen in this chapter he raises it above his head when he activates his power. And what better way to end this arc than by having Luffy do something as big as challenge an Admiral, and if he does win this could be enough reasons to let Fujitora enter a Marine base(he will be injured though^^).
Based on my enjoyment of this chapter I’m giving it a 8.5 rating, it was a solid chapter that had Sengoku and Law bond and reminisce about Rosinante, and it even showed the Tontatta taking an active part in helping the pirates. And Luffy vs Fujitora is something I’m looking for, even if it’s just a skirmish. Maybe we’ll finally get the answer about whether or not Luffy is at Admiral level.
