It's so hard to rank him... still saying he is YC3 after that is almost insulting

ace was YC1+ level easy. he basically did as good against whitebeard as yamato did against kaidou. he used to get so much disrespect just cause he lost to blackbeard and akainu. like first of all akainu is yonkou level plus he had a devil fruit advantage...

trust me in a parallel universe where ace was never killed, that boy woulda been a problem. the world government dodged a fat bullet the size of my girl's ass by getting rid of ace when they did. imagine leaving him and luffy alone running around for too long. the world government woulda been fucked and they knew it. thats basically a world where dragon was born the same time as roger and he was pirate.

Nahh this is grossly exaggerating , Yamato could actually hit and hurt kaido , whitebeard was actually proven to be holding back much more and held back his final blow

Whitebeard and Kaido could defeat both Ace and Yamato anytime they wanted to. It doesn't change the fact these 2 people are both capable of putting up a fight and hurting an Emperor.

Ace was actually capable of hurting Whitebeard and he did multiple times. Thatch actually tried to discourage Whitebeard from fighting Ace because his flames that initially weren't hurting were beginning to burn Whitebeard. Before their final battle, Whitebeard had to be taken care by his doctor for injuries from fighting Ace.

Ace was also far more talented than Luffy. He acquired the ability to use Haki at Sabaody, he defeated a Vice Admiral, and this was his first engagement against a Haki user. He developed Armament Haki at Sabaody without a mentor. Luffy was pretty much fodder at Sabaody and couldn't take on a Vice Admiral until the 2 year skip. Luffy couldn't even fight against Smoker whereas Ace was already fighting multiple levels above that rank by the time he reached Sabaody.

He then went on to take on Jinbei, and even at this point, he was on par with him.

That was not enough for Ace, he stayed on Whitebeard's ships for a few months and by the time he'd decided to fight against Whitebeard for the final time, he'd developed so much that he was given the rank of 2nd commander of the WB Pirates. Whitebeard wasn't handing out Oden's former position to anyone not worthy.

Ace had to be killed and paraphrasing Sengoku... if he was left alone, he'd eventually become Pirate King because his strength was growing too quickly. As Chinjao said, Ace was the only one from this generation with the potential to be Pirate King.

Even Marco was never said to be capable of defeating an Emperor, yet they knew that if Ace was left alone, he'd become Pirate King meaning... Ace's potential is pretty much comparable to the main character, an individual who with time will grow to be as strong as an Emperor. Ranking him among commanders is pretty much misunderstanding his strength and potential, Ace was far superior to that rank of combatant.

Bottom line, at the very least, Ace is no weaker than Yamato and has far more potential than Yamato given... only Ace besides Luffy has been viewed as a potential Pirate King. Anything Yamato can do, Ace can at the very least do.

Yeah, Ace was the only character in the current generation whose potential reached or even arguably surpassed Luffy's own.
Apart from Luffy (and MAYBE Shanks), Ace was the only character in the series who has the potential to reach (or maybe even surpass) Roger/Whitebeard level.

This was precisely the reason why Ace had to be killed off.
Cause Oda can't have someone who can match or upstage the MC running around alive. Plus, his death served as a character moment for Luffy. Oda killing two birds with one stone here.

Plus, Ace was only 18 when he stalemated Yamato, who was 24 then.

I've read all 4 chapters of that magnificent spin off today.
What to say... I miss Ace so much, he was my favourite character and definitely deserved a better treatment from Oda.
Boichi's draws are stunning.
Hope to see more Ace's spin off in the future(won't happen) and hope Deuce will meet Rufy later.
